With Kanna's permission, Meirou had strayed from her usual adventures in the park to the streets, particularly on her way to a book shop with some money. Gaian money was strange to her, all sparkly and...called 'Gold'? Yet she was SURE it wasn't made of the metal that shared the same name....Silly gaians..
She walked into the dusty and paper-filled store, eyes wide in the dim light at all the books that were there. Some new, some old, and very few ANCIENT. She squealed in glee before running to the back of the store and looking at all the covers.
Shakespere....Fitzgerald...Gaiman? Ah yes! Einstein!
She reached for the book, grinning. Her best friend in nuclear science was going to be hers!

... Well, there were shopfronts all around, and Jilan was looking at a book store, but he was not at all familiar with this part of town sweatdrop The youth tried not to worry too much - all he had to do was find a bus station, and he could get home from there, even if it took two or three buses.
He just had more stuff with him, since he had just arrived from the Silver World.
Dragging his wagon to the alcove just in front of the book store to get out of the sidewalk, Jilan set down his book bag and his backpack and dug his journal carefully out of the former. Shut inside the front cover was his bus pass, which would get him anywhere in the bus system and-
-it had an expiration date?
The little scholar sighed, wilting a little as he tucked the card into his robes and gathered up his belongings again. Time passed so strangely between the Silver World and Gaia, and he had no idea just how much of it he had missed here. At least he had gotten better about strangers - a shop owner should be no problem at all, right? - and so he figured he could just duck into the shop to ask for the date.
Jilan pushed the door open and held it with his rear end, and tried to work his wagon full of things over the threshold. At least it was easier now than it had been last time, because he was taller sweatdrop
"H-hello?" he called shyly, testing his voice.

Meirou, assuming she was the only porcelain around, projected a rather large wave of pure joy, twirling as she held the book. Her best friend was able to be bought with what little she had~! ...Even if Kanna told her it was for FOOD. Who needed food when you could have PHYSICS?
She skipped to the front of the store, holding the big dusty book in her arms when Jilan spoke. The girl looked over to him, on tiptoes to hand the book to the cashier and....
"Hello~" She chirped, not quite sure if the guest was Porcelain or human....But projected out a greeting as well, just to be polite~.

Jilan peeked around the front of the store; hopefully whoever was working there would not mind him bringing his wagon just inside the door, since he could just leave it outside unattended.... It contained an awful lot of stuff sweatdrop
Sensing a projected greeting, the little scholar brightened and replied with one of his own as he spotted the young girl. Glancing between the cashier and the Porcelain, he bowed and clasped his hands together as he told both of them that he could wait for a moment until their transaction was finished.
But, um. After the young lady is done buying her book, uh, Jilan wondered if he could trouble them to tell him today's date? He smiled sheepishly, hoping that he did not sound too weird.

Meirou smiles and nods at Jilan, politely taking enough time to buy her book to be nice to the wonderful shop keeper and Jilan as well. She took her change, and the book, and turned to Jilan with a smile.
Meirou believes it to be April 9th! Because Kanna's birthday is tommarow and made Meirou memorize it!.....And she still has to buy Kanna something. gonk But the book is that precious!
Did sir just arrive in Gaia? Meirou seems to have noticed a lot of arrivals recently......Like Kinji.

Dropping the handle of the wagon, Jilan pulls the bus pass from his robes again and immediately seeks the expiration date again.
... April, really? gonk His pass expired at the end of March. With a sigh, he tucks it back into his robes again - it will make a nice bookmark, at least.
The little scholar wishes a happy birthday to Miss's ... friend? Guardian? His thoughts become momentarily hurried again before Jilan recalls that he still has several months before Kumoru's birthday.
And as for if he- Jilan stops when the young lady calls him "sir", and glances over his shoulder quickly to be sure she is really talking to him first. Ah, he did just arrive in Gaia, but he has been here before. Grew up here once already, he informs her proudly but also somewhat sheepishly, as he is obviously a youngster again by all appearances. Jilan has just returned from the Silver World, and needs to find a way home.
Immediately, the boy knits his fingers together and blushes and fidgets and then, veeeerry embarrassed, asks young miss if... he might be able... to. Um. Borrow a dollar for the bus? sweatdrop

Meirou nods. Kanna is her Guardian here in Gaia. And she sure loves playing in that orchestra.... gonk But new instruments are so expencive!
The silver world? Meirou doesn't know of this place....Could he explain it to her? Isn't that the place of the dead? D8 Or something like that...?
Meirou smiles brightly. Meirou needs to take the bus too, anyway! So yes, he can borrow a dollar! Where is sir going, if Meirou may ask?

Clasping his hands together, Jilan insists with a blush on his cheeks that young Miss need not call him "sir". He is just Jilan sweatdrop What is her name?
And he needs to go southeast on the 512-bus, he tells her with a nod. As long as that has stayed the same in his absence from Gaia. Though Jilan is not sure why the bus routes would have to change. Which way is she going?
He then explains that he has heard from several other Porcelain of the Golden World that the Silver World is their land of the dead... but of course now Jilan has been there and back twice now, and he seems very much alive. The little scholar shrugs; he is not really sure how else to answer her on that topic.
... He is curious to know more about young Miss's instruments, though? How expensive are they? And where do they sell them? Jilan suspects they have stores just for instruments here in Gaia just like in the Silver World (and feels silly that he does not actually know about purchasing them in Gaia, for all the time he has spent here), but he is not sure where to find such a place. Though... he probably has a little while to save up and such, before he must return with something to show Lady Hiko....

Meirou nods, listening. Jilan, hmm? Well...Miss is Meirou, so now she is no longer young miss! Just Meirou as well.
Meirou is going to the symphony hall near the large park. It's where Kanna works, and will soon be out!
She nods, listening intently. So it's more like...an alternate Golden World? How different are things there from back home?
Kanna has so many instruments! Though most of them stay at the apartment...She said her old ones from back in school were a couple hundred dollars, but her nicer ones are about a thousand or so. Meirou believes there are some specialty shops in the area...And most of them do repair work as well! And who is this Lady Hiko? Is she Jilan's friend from the Silver World?

Right, Jilan is very pleased to meet Meirou. He grins, a faint bit of shyness coming from him as he bows.
Though... if he is remembering the layout of town correctly, if Meirou is going near the park, she will probably not be on the same bus as Jilan. So they should probably chat now while they head out to the bus stop, so they will not both miss their buses. And then perhaps they can meet again sometime later?
Lady Hiko is not really a friend of Jilan's, exactly. Yet? Or, he does not think so. They are not very close, but he likes her and she thinks he is interesting, and wants to know more about the Beautiful Arts of Gaia. Jilan has studied the Beautiful Arts a fair amount in the Silver World (though he is sure to mention that he likes magic better), but he does not know terribly much about art in Gaia. Which is silly, because he has lived here for so long.
But perhaps sometime Meirou can introduce him to Kanna? The little scholar is hardly a skilled musician, but he knows a thing or two and would be most curious to learn more.
Jilan starts working on turning his wagon around to pull it back out of the bookstore, steadying the load on top with one hand. Oh dear, how will he ever get this on and off the bus?
As for the Silver World, though- Wait, what does Meirou mean by "back home"? Here in Gaia? Or the Golden World? Jilan requires clarification, because he is not from the Golden World, and has in fact never been there....

Yes, the park is probably far from where Jilan is going. And what a lovely idea! Meirou would be more than happy to meet Jilan again sometime! She's usually at the park this time of day...Because Kanna WORKS.
Ah, so Lady Hiko mentored him, or something along those lines, in the Silver World? How does one even GET there? Meirou is rather curious, and would like to know.
Oh yes! Meirou would be delighted to introduce him to her caretaker! Kanna isn't really THAT good, she admits, but she's better than the others...Sometimes.
Meirou thinks about the issue of Jilan's rather large load of stuff, looking it over. Well...Maybe if he had a RAMP it would help!
'Back home' is the Golden World to Meirou....Though 'Home' is Kanna's apartment here in Gaia. So there are Porcelain who have NOT come form the Golden World? Meirou finds this horribly INTERESTING.

The youth smiles, nodding. He projects to Meirou that he would like to meet her caretaker sometime... though these thoughts are touched with shyness. However, sometime when he is not burdened with all of his belongings, he can maybe try playing some Silver World music for Meirou and her guardian both. And they can show Jilan more about Gaian music since he has never really had a music teacher here before.
And he only really met Lady Hiko twice. The people he lived with were Genka and his wife Kinkyou. And he got there through portals, but he really cannot explain it better than that. He did not find anything about portals in any of the magical texts he read and... Jilan glances at his wagon filled with books and laughs sheepishly. There were a lot of those books.
A ramp would be handy, though.... Oh well, the little scholar will figure something out. Like trying not to acquire so many things next time he goes to the Silver World sweatdrop
As for where he comes from... Jilan becomes quiet and tells Meirou that he was born in a place called Dragonlamp; he has heard High Priest Kouyo call the place Karyasihu, if Meirou knows it by that name. He only lived there for a brief while before he was rescued and brought to Gaia, though. So... he considers himself a native of Gaia.

Meirou would LOVE to hear Silver World music! And Kanna would be more than happy to teach Jilan...She plays a lot. And Meirou means a lot.
Oh, so there's these portals around? Meirou KNEW physics had to do with it somehow! Perhaps these portals are just mini-black holes and...Well...Meirou doesn't know a lot about black holes... sweatdrop Indeed those ARE a lot of books! Maybe with all that writing, Jilan can translate her Prince's Jacket? Meirou doesn't recognise the writing on it.....
Perhaps Jilan can carry less into the Silver World and get a large bag on wheels. Wheels help everything! The girl glances around and finds a plank of discarded plywood. This should suffice! Of course, in grabbing it...
OWWW! gonk Splinters are bad!
"Stupid board!" The girl states rather angrily, kicking it back. "May Issac Newton force you to break with 50 Newtons of force!" She had gotten better at speaking...... Well...Thanks to 'One-ups-manship' with the band...

Meirou stops to reply to the rest of Jilan's comments. No, she has not heard of Dragonlamp by either name. It must have been pretty horrible if he had to be 'rescued'. gonk

The boy modestly waves away her concern - he scarcely remembers Dragonlamp at all, so it was not like he was there long enough to suffer. He visited once, briefly, and it troubled him to be there but... so far as he can recall, it was more the overall feel of the place (creepy!) more than any particular incident.
He hauls his wagon along down the sidewalk; the wheels he has certainly help considerably, but... the little scholar is not sure how much longer these will last. They are also not quite big enough to hold everything. As though to emphasize this fact, the cloth-wrapped parcel on top of the pile of stuff starts to shift a little, and the youth is forced to steady it to keep it from falling off.
From what he has heard, though, the portals come and go. Jilan shrugs. He is not sure the how or why of it, whether it is physics or magic. Perhaps the next time he returns to the Silver World, he can try to find books or writings on the subject, if there are any. And if the Silver World truly is the land of the dead, then perhaps High Priest Kouyo might know something as well....
Wait, Prince? Is- is Miss Meirou a Princess? Fumbling over himself a little, Jilan apologizes if he has been rude or too informal with her!

Meirou nods, trying to remember this place...to avoid it. If it was creepy, she was sure not to like it.
Perhaps what Jilan needs is...A BIGGER CART. Maybe a rickshaw or something? If he has a strong back, surely he can do it. Meirou sighs, looking over her splintered palm, though it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
High Priest Kouyo? So there's a High Priest here in Gaia? Did he also come from the Golden World, or is he from Dragonlamp? Meirou must study for her Naming Ceremony! gonk Even though it's a long way away...
No, no! Meirou is not a Princess! Shuuken is a Princess, but also Meirou's 'Temporary Prince'. Come to think of it...Meirou hasn't heard from Shuuken in a while.....Ah well. The Prince saved Meirou when she was swept away by a rather..odd wave back home. He bandaged her wounds and left her, with his jacket, in the Symphony's practice rooms.
