Summary of following: Thanks for using my setting, but please stick to it!

Firstly, I am honoured that you [i.e. the people interested in this comic] have decided to set it 'pon my fair city - and am very glad you have chosen to do so. I'm also glad of the opportunity to use my setting.

Speaking of which: I have the setting of the Anachronism very well laid out in my mind, and in note form (lots and lots of notes). It details not only the basics of the city itself (which can be found here: Link!) but also more global details - such as principle differences in technology (importantly their limitations) and anything revolving airships: navies, pirates, capabilities of airships etc. And I hope this has all come together in a very detailed, interesting and 'believable' setting. However said notes haven't been put in workable form yet, but I am working on it (especially given they'd be needed for this comic). If all goes well, there'll be a lot more to be used soon!

Before ye read the following, I don't mean to curtail anyone's creativity - neither that of the people who will write this comic, or place character's upon it.

But basically, I like my setting. Really like it (and have worked a long time on it). And I'm very pleased you've chosen to set your work [and I consider this a work of all involved] upon my fine air-city. But please be faithful to it - I'd rather none of it was followed than just some bits of it.

That said, I don't want to stop people being creative, and I certainly don't want to dictate everything that goes on, or every detail - much like a city planner doesn't dictate who lives in his houses, and what furniture they buy. Please do be creative! It's wonderful!

Special note: If you (i.e. anyone) want more detail on something specific, or think something should be changed, tell me - and chances are I'll get right on it.

Don't worry. Its about the guild so logic dictates it takes place in the guild 3nodding

besides what better place to battle Air Pirates then an Air City?

Naturally, but my point is it didn't have to be about the guild.

Well, hopefully at a reasonable distance from the air city. wink

While I'm here, it may be worth saying a few noteworthy facets of the setting:

- The world has been free of all major wars for over 5 years, ever since the British Empire used its vast fleet as a deterrent. With a sudden stop in conflict, and fostered by the feeling of an age of understand and science, all major conflicts stopped, and countries signed non-aggression pacts.

- Most of the conflict that still exists is dealt by pirates, which frequently prey on cargo vessels and even undefended countries, many of which are actually funded by countries which failed to sign a non-aggression agreement. For this reason, armies still exist.

- The Anachronism was originally intended to be a super weapon, the very spire that powers it being capable of focussing light with destructive effect. Given its airborne nature, it would be able to move not only armies but support buildings to wherever they were needed (not to mention it's weapon). However before the Anachronism was complete, Britain declared peace; and the Anachronism was instead completed to serve triple function: as any other city, as a centre of science and discovery, and as defence against pirates.

- In this here setting, there is no such thing as magic; at least not in the 'classical' fantasy shoot-beams-of-searing-energy-from-my-hands sort of way. There do, however, exist parlour tricks and spiritualism (including illusionary acts, communing with ghosts etc.). But they all have perfectly rational explanations. Basically: the laws of physics apply.

- This is still set on Earth, circa 1800s - humans (or close variations thereof) only please. Robots are ok.

...O_O BRILLIANT!

Steamboy meets Floating Castle(flying castle? it's been awhile), in a sense. Oh all the interesting things one could do there. Unlike most people, the first thinking coming to my mind, is hide and seek! =D

It's a good thing I came here to see if anything new had transpired re: the comic, cos now I realise more about the Anachronism and can thus change my colours on that drawing to match accordingly.
The ones I had picked originally I now see are so wrong. I have done the background (which can remain the same) and the flats, no shading yet luckily. (^_Q)
And it also explained what some elements were, that I was having trouble recognising. If I had kept on, you might have been very confused. XD

Do you mean Laputa: Castle in the Sky? Or perhaps Howl's Moving Castle?

Ah, I was thinking of Castle in the Sky with the floating perspective, AND Howl's moving castle was the other one that came to mind with all the gadgets ( also loved the idea of doors to other worlds, but that's me). It's been awhile since I've seen them. Reminds me I should Download them again, I only have Miyazaki's 'Spirited Away' on DVD, and kinda forgot about the others for awhile.

Film school seems like a LOOOONG time ago. -_-

Yes, captain. What of the existence of other airborne structures?

Yes, captain. What of the existence of other airborne structures?

They are certainly none on the scale of the Anachronism.

However, there do exist some flying villages and the like, suspended by balloons; and there are a number of airships large enough to serve as flying hotels. I do have details on other predominant vehicles and settlements, but I'll detail them later.

Well, I was considering the possibility of an airborne citadel that once floated, one of Jad's 'legends' he persues, called New Atlantis. It's a steamjet-borne floating piece of land (Smaller, of course. it's a village) that is 'lost' it's truly a large robot, and is carrying out it's functions to avoid other areas of civilization. It's somewhere in the pacific...

That reminds me of something my half brother said yeeears ago. You see, he loved airplanes, and when looking up at the sky one night with him, mentioned all the Stars. To which he said, "That's not a star, that's an AIRPORT!"

You see, he thought airplanes stayed up in the air at all times. Perhaps that can be used as a transportation method around Anachronism, and to other floating places. Little air cabs with 'air'ports for them to refuel and stop. Kinda like blimps, but more steamy.

I figure this has already been thought up and covered, but, eh, why not? I'm getting excited about this!
