Kwaruza had just spent some time with her son. They had spent some time chatting about life, and girls. She found it amusing that he was so open with her about everything but he seemed a little lonely. It had upset Kwaruza somewhat to see her son so lonely but then again he didn't seem too bothered as well. Maybe it was a phase he was going through.
She had been walking for a while now allowing herself to move and think all at once. It was the best way of doing things she found as she could think about anything she wanted while still doing her job for Tamu. It worked perfectly.
She had walked up the stream today, sometimes wading in the shallow ends sometimes just walking beside it. She loved the water. There was something about it that just seemed so homely.

A deep sigh, a long intake of breath, the flick of his tail, eyes closed as the sun warmed his hide. The sand between his toes, salt in the air, water as far as the eye could see, it was more amazing than he had ever remembered it. The sea, such a beautiful place, fish, water, surf, catnip, what more was there to want?
Company perhaps, and that was here as well. She had been right, there were lions at the sea, and not just a few, but a pride. If they had been here when he had last seen the sea as a cub, perhaps he never would have left. Why had it taken him so long to come back here in the first place?
"Groovy man."
A soft whisper to himself, the ultimate sigh of contentment and relaxation. This time he would stay here, perhaps forever, what reason could he ever have to leave?

Kwaruza continued to wander around for a while before she saw the blue figure heading in her direction. He was very blue and she wondered for a second or two if he were related to Tamu but then as she seemed to get a little closer to him she was sure that there was no relation. She just wasn't use to seeing blue lions.
"Hello there!" She called out a smile firmly placed on her face. She flicked her tail behind her as she walked onwards towards him. She looked him over as she drew closer to him, taking in his markings, the blue colouring of his body and the yellow that highlighted his mane and underbelly. He was quite something. She had never seen anyone quite like him before.

His eyes had opened, ears twitching as the sound of a voice joined that of the ocean waves (ah, such a peaceful sound). Turning toward the voice he had half expected to see bright colors (were there others here as brilliant as Leboya? Like the jellyfish that washed onto the shore?), instead his eyes fell on a peaceful white pelt, shinning in the sunlight.
"Hey. Such a beautiful day, a good day for fishing."
His voice was soft, mellow, perhaps the voice of the most content lion on earth, at perfect peace. Fishing, what a groovy idea, he had never fished in the ocean, though he was certain the fish were delicious.
"I never knew lions lived at the sea, man."
Was the lioness one of them, did she live here? Righteous, maybe she could give him a few pointers on ocean fishing.
"I'd love to stay forever."
Another deep breath, he just couldn't get enough of that salt air.

Well he was an easy one. He even answered her questions before she had the chance to ask them. Sorted!
"There is a pride that lives here, you are welcome to join us if you wish. We just ask that everyone looks after each other." She smiled at him and watched him. He was a strange lion, so very strange.
She was willing to answer any question he might have, she always was though if he asked a question about fishing she wouldn't know how to answer it. She had never caught a fish before, always going inland to pick off herd animals.

"That sounds excellent."
A warm smile, he looked to the lioness, truly grateful for her welcome. Though he had never been one to worry what others thought of him, it was good to know he would be welcomed, to stay and ejoy the beauty of the sea. Could life get any better?
Strange? Well, there was no arguing that. It seemed the lion was always happy, peaceful, whether by his catnip addiction or his own nature. Far from the most intelligent of lions, Ali was a gentle creature, harmless, and if he had a good day of fishing, he was more than willing to share. He would have shared the catnip as well were it asked, spread the pleasure around, enjoy life, whatever that pleasure may be.
"What're the fish like here?"
He had always wondered about ocean fish. Were they big, small, silvery, bright, colorful like the fish in his dreams? What did they taste like? He'd have to find out, maybe he'd go for a swim to find out. Righteous idea, fish, surf, what did it feel like to swim in the waves? Odd that he didn't know that, hadn't he swam in the water as a cub?

Kwaruza smiled at his enthusiasm. It was always nice to see someone excited abut the pride and living here because to her it was perfection and she loved it!
"Fish?" The question caught her off guard a little but she smiled again and chuckled a little.
"The fish are brightly coloured, at least they are if you swim out to sea more. They get bigger too. You can find small ones by the rock pools," she motioned with her paw in which direction they were. "Or you can find bigger ones out in the sea if you are for swimming." She loved to go and watch the fish, they were all so pretty especially if she swam out far, though sometimes some of the bigger ones would frighten her a little, they were really really big!

"Awesome."
His mind swam with the possibilities, dreams of brightly colored fish. And big fish, mmmm, they must be very tasty, or at least he imagined they were. So many types of fish, what other creatures lived in the sea? Fish, life's greatest pleasure.
Though perhaps it was second to the water. Fitting that a lion such as Ali'ikai should love the sea, it was in his name after all. His name, he supposed that was an important idea, though he probably would have answered to 'hey you' or 'dude' just as easily.
"Call me Ali'ikai, or just Ali."
A friendly smile in greeting, well at least he was polite, even if he was a little out there.

Kwaruza nodded.
She looked at him again and was about to ask his name when he told her. It was always useful knowing the name of those you had met especially if he was planning on staying here.
"I am Kwaruza, the ruler of these lands is Tamu, I am sure you will bump into her at some point. Is there anything you want to know about the pride? Otherwise I will leave you to your explorations and fish!" She chuckled a little, a smile still on her face. She was more then willing to help with anything otherwise though she knew it was best to leave the new ones. Best way to learn is to do it yourself.

There were many things he could have asked, things he should have asked. Such as what was the surf like, was it hide tide or low, were there currents he needed to look out for, rocks, sharks. How many members were in the pride, did they have specific rules, beliefs, what would he be asked to do for the pride.
All of these would have been very good questions, but Ali...
"Nah man, I'm cool."
The beautiful sea, the thought of fish, it was all that was on his mind, a pull he could not resist (not that there was ever much more than that on his mind). He wanted to run into the water, to feel the waves, the salt in his fur, to find the colorful fish he had been told of. If he had any questions later he knew who to ask, he could find her again, right?
Well, maybe there was one question to ask.
"Want to join me for a swim?"
A smile, purely an innocent question. Surely she enjoyed the sea as well (why else would she live there), shouldn't everyone join in the fun?

Kwaruza nodded as he said he was okay,
"Well if you change my mind I am normally easy to find and am more then happy to answer questions or just hang out and be friends. I know sometimes its hard for some to fit in." Though she was sure it wouldn't be for him, he just seemed so happy and laid back.
She was about to leave when he asked his question and she couldn't help but laugh. No one had asked her to swim with them before and she adored swimming so she couldn't just turn him down now could she?
"I would love to!" She smiled, she needed a good ol' swim anyway.

"Groovy, man, let's go."
Giving in to the call of the surf, he walked along the beach, paws sinking into the sands with each step. Ah, the sand, so soft, so warm, he could spend a day just playing in that sand, he could even make shapes in the sand. Oh man, a great idea, he'd try that later, after his swim. Priorities man, water, fish, then sand.
The sand on the short was different, harder, wet, coarser, worn by the tide. He stood still for a moment, the water watching over his paws, sand dancing with each wave. Whoa....
And then, with a bound, he was in the water. Whoa, it was a lot colder than he had expected (how could the sand be so warm and the water cold?), but it was not unpleasant. Ah, so that was what the waves felt like, washing over his blue hide, salt water catching in his fur. It was peaceful, and like a boy born to surf, Ali'ikai took to the ocean like a fish.
Okay, don't drink the salt water, but swimming, it was better than the best catnip high.

Kwaruza smiled and followed him, she watched him get into the water and chuckled a little. He seemed to be a natural in the water and it made her smile. Kwaruza loved to see lions swimming.
She followed him into the water, a little more elegantly then he did and swam over to him. She had learnt to keep her mouth shut while swimming at least mostly anyway. She ducked her head under the water, she was able to swim under water well. She swam up to him, grabbed his tail and yanked, not harshly but playfully. She then let go and swam off a little before coming up for some air.

Whoa, man, what the--
A surprised yelp, Ali flailed about in the water a moment, looking one way then the other. What was that, something had grabbed his tail! Searching, he swam in a circle, a deep breath, his head plunged beneath the water, searching about for whatever had caught his tail. Had it be a fish? Or--wait a minute.
"Hey, you got me."
A grin as his gaze fell on Kwaruza, she was a good swimmer, there was no denying that. Well, two could play at that game.
His forepaws lifted from the water, a moment later crashing down again, sending a massive splash toward the white lioness. Hah, take that! The fish could wait for now, this was too much fun.

Kwaruza couldn't suppress her laugh as the sea water splashed her face and went into her mouth.
Ewww.
She coughed a little before going back under the water, she was swimming a little like a fish, maneuvering herself under him. If this worked out well, as she rose, she would hopefully throw him out the water a little. That however would depend on whether or not he moved though. She could hope he wouldn't. This was just too much fun. She hadn't played in a long time.
