It was the worst weather of the season. Rain fell in abundance rather than a light drizzle. 'I'm never listening to that weatherman again!' Anthony said to himself as he stood under the edge of a roof of a shop. The weather had told him that it would be sunny with almost no chance of rain. He leaned against a wall to support himself to still stand. He wanted to find somewhere to go sit down, but he wasn't hungry or thirsty. It'd look bad if he sat down and didn't buy anything. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few Pieces. He counted them up and saw that he didn't have much. He had brought out 15 or so. He didn't really think he'd be buying anything, and didn't plan on it, either. He sighed though. The rain didn't seem to want to let out anytime soon. 'Maybe I can make a dash for it...' He thought to himself with a hand stroking his chin in deep thought. He eventually decided to find a shop to go into and shop around. He pushed himself off the wall and began to head left, hoping to find something interesting.
After a while, he noticed something there. It was a nice looking shop. Sort of odd with a hint of mystery. He blinked a few times and squinted to see the sign. It was across the road from where he stood. He peered up and saw gray sky instead of a shelter. He pouted to himself and ran for it the second it changed to a green light. Bad idea as turning cars didn't have any respect for pedestrians crossing the road and he stepped in more than enough puddles. Eventually, he made it to the shop; shoulders, glasses and anything below his knees soaking wet with rain water. He shrugged it off as he took his glasses off and wiped it with the end of his shirt. While he was momentarily 'blind' he made his way into the store where he seeked a sanctuary.

It was the worst weather of the season and Linnea Mycroft watched it from the storefront windows while she dried off.
She was in an odd mood, and the weather didn't help. The drumming drops served as a hammer for each of her peculiar musings, pounding them into her mind with more force than before. She knew she shouldn't have gone to the city today. Strange thoughts were hard enough to deal with at home, and home had tea and a fireplace and the comfortable solitude that only the nearby hallowed ground of the cemetery could protect properly. Here there were people, more people than Linnea was comfortable around, noise, buildings, and headaches. She put a hand to her temples, shutting her eyes tightly. "...Mmmm." Another customer came in, she moved away as they did so and pretended to be interested in the merchandise. She wasn't sure what kind of a shop she had run into to avoid the wet, but she was sure that she'd rather browse what they sold than be social at the moment.

The bell had rung not once, but twice to catch the attention of the shop owner; however she was out, and instead in her place was her son. Heavy footsteps were heard as Ment raced down the stairs from his bedroom over the shop into the actual shop area. He was excited. With the weather having been so bad all day not a person had visited the shop, which made him a tad bit lonely.
He greeted both customers, slightly out of breath, "Welcome to Solace Scents. Anything I can help you with?"
The teenage boy ran a hand through his white and red streaked hair and grinned, standing with a hand placed on one of his skirted hips. The trail of his witch's hat bounced slightly still in motion from his fast paced entrance.

Anthony wiped the droplets off of his glasses. He squinted at who was talking to him; trying to make out the figures in front of him. He couldn't see who was exactly in front of him, but he could see a blur of colour. Before him, he could make out the shape of a skirt. He shook his head to the white haired woman. "I was just planning to browse, but since you asked, what can you recommend me, miss?" He said with a smile before putting his glasses back on. And looking at who he was talking to. And thought that she was quite a pretty girl.
He stepped closer to the inside of the store, so that the person behind him could get into the store. It'd be bad if he was the reason they lost customers. He stood a bit closer to the skirted person in the store.

Linnea looked up at the bizarre girl. Frowning, she studied her face. ...The boy?
The... person, yes, the very colourful person that greeted them. Giving them a curt nod, she asked "Hello... Yes, I'm looking for, um," Her head throbbed and she winced. "Something soothing." she muttered, rubbing it once more. Solace Scents, if she had to guess, probably sold scents. And though she had just come in to get out of the rain, it would at last be polite to look at what they sold. The frugal woman didn't often splurge on things like scented oil, but hope was the greatest of all gifts, and she was using their roof for the second greatest of all gifts, that being not soaking in the rain. "You can help him first." she added as the other customer spoke up. He didn't look like he had come in for any other reason than the rain either, but he looked more persuadable than the cemetery caretaker and she needed a moment to soothe her aching mind.

"As you wish, Ma'am." Ment commented to Linnea and turned to Anthony with a grin, "Well sir, I could recommend you anything really, but unless I knew some things that smelt pleasant to you I might not know if my recommendation would please you or not."
Ment stepped closer to Anthony, his Chucks making light thud noises on the ground as he approached. The end of the teens hat swayed side to side, making a faint whooshing noise. The closer he got to Anthony the heavier to smell of peppermint seemed to become.
"Now, what exactly is it that you find pleasant to your nose," He chirped, motioning for Anthony to follow him around the tables, "Perhaps something floral? Or maybe something heavy and sensual?"

The scent of peppermint lingered in the air. It reminded him of the sweet scent when he went to his sister's house during Christmas and all her kids were eating red and white striped candies. He was engulfed in the scent of the being in front of him. "Oh, sorry. Heavy doesn't sound too please. Perhaps something floral then?" He said as he took a deep breath of the fresh peppermint into his lungs. It tingled his senses and he just stopped taking really deep breaths around the clerk. It would've made him look like a creep to be sniffing up teenage store clerks in mini-skirts'
He almost didn't notice the woman that came in with him. He felt slightly bad for having to let the women let him go first with the store clerk. 'I'll have to be quick to not bother her but stay in here until the rain lets out...' He was in a predicament. He didn't know what to say, but instead he just followed the peppermint scented girl around the tables. Little did he know that she was in fact, a boy. "Could I possibly have your name, miss? It'd be much nicer if i could address you by your name instead of a title." He said with a small chuckle.

Linnea rubbed her temples as the other two conversed, a lingering smell of peppermint helping in a small way to ease her mind. Taking a good look around for herself for the first time since she came in, her eyes widened at all the unusual scents in the store. She had always considered scented oil to be a sort of silly luxury, but she had no idea there were so many different sorts to boot. Who MADE all this stuff? Glancing at names, she saw some that didn't even sound like something you could smell.
However, her conscience was nagging at her to buy something even as her brain was goggling at how many types of product the store had. Silly it may seem, but it was now her societal obligation to purchase one. If she left without as soon as the rain stopped, she would feel like she was just leading them on and that was hardly fair. It didn't look like they were struggling, but really, how many people honestly bought scented oil every day? So instead of just goggling at the scents for sale, the meticulous caretaker began to search for one she wouldn't mind having in her home. It was the right thing to do.

Ment couldn't help but laugh a little. He called him miss. That was just too cute, even to him. Ment pondered for a moment on this, guessing his voice was a little girly for a boy, but that made no matter, he could easily change it lower by nixing out the happy-go-lucky tone of his.
"My name is Ment, sir. Ment Solace."
Walking Anthony towards the back of the store, he picked up a sample of incense from a table marked 'florals'. Gently, Ment removed the top of the oil container and whiffed it under Anthony's nose. It smelled like an overpowering mixture of plum blossoms and tulips. Perhaps a bit too strong for Anthony, but he'd never know which was right unless he tried.
Ment eyed Linnea calmly as she looked around. He didn't want to be rude, but as soon as she entered she smelled deeply of earth and a thought hit him as to something she might like a whiff of, if she was actually in the market of buying anything. It seemed like she might be as she was looking over each of the Scents in great detail. She was currently standing near the food smelling items.

Anthony pushed up his glasses and looked out of Solace Scents to see if the rain let out. It didn't. It seemed as if it were even harder now! He plastered a frown on his face before he was taken by Ment to the back of the store to take a whiff of some scents. When they got there, he saw that the tables were marked which was going to be a good thing if he ever wanted to pick up anything else from the little scent store. He didn't say anything as Ment did his thing.
He thought it over in his own mind. 'Ment.' It didn't seem clearly like a boy or girl's name to him, so he kept his thinking that she was a girl. At the scent that was given to him to smell, he sort of winced a bit. It was quite heavily scented for his tastes. "Maybe something not so fragrant? I live in a small apartment, so my neighbours would probably smell this." He said with a nervous chuckle. "But what might this one be called?" He was curious on scent names. He wasn't a regular to anything fragrant or even scented soaps from the store!

Linnea lingered over a scent briefly, breathing in something a bit like vanilla cookies. "Mmmm..." It was pleasing and it revived her spirits a little. More alert, she smelled another and withdrew. What was THAT one? It was much too vibrant for the woman and she went to explore another section, getting wrapped up in exploring the diverse scents despite her best intentions. In a more flowery section, she saw that the feminine salesboy, whose name she happened to catch offhandedly as he said it, was showing the older man different scents. Lilies were the flowers she was most familiar with, those funereal blossoms and the wildflowers that sprouted in the cemetery in spring. Personally, Linnea preferred the wildflowers. Thinking about this as she stepped over, she wrinkled her nose in sensory surprise. Whatever Ment Solace was letting the man smell, it was far too strong to be either of the floral scents she was used to.

Ment nodded his head as Anthony explained that what he was showing him was far too fragrant for his tastes. He fastened the top back onto the vessel, not wishing to overpower the room with it. It was already heavily scented enough in the room, so adding more to it than needed probably wasn't the best of ideas.
Hmnn. Ment pondered to himself as Anthony asked what he was showing him exactly. Easy answers were his specialty since he'd been working here since birth...if you call it a birth, "Some have creative names, like Tantric Carousel or Jeweled Aurora. Others, like this one here, have simple names. this one is called Fields of Plum, which is mostly just plum blossoms and a bit of tulips in there. It really depends from oil to oil since Olivia does not buy them all from the same place."
Ment caught a glance of Linnea as she withdrew slightly from the scent of Field s of Plum. Perhaps she liked more subtle and light Scents. He chirped, addressing her in hopes of assisting her needs, "Were you looking for something more light Ma'am?"

"Ah. I wonder who comes up with the names. They all seem to be quite original and somewhat amusing to think of when you smell it." He said as he chuckled a little nervously as he realized that he was rambling on and on. Anthony wanted to continue to ask about the scents, but realized that Ment's attention focused onto the lady that came into the store as well. He didn't mind it at all. The man just looked around the shelves for something that might catch his eye. He also tried to find a clear window to see outside if the rain had stopped by now. He looked around for a window or something to check.
Before he could find one, something else caught his eye... It had colours that attracted him to it. It looked like a swirl of pastel colours like a sunny spring day. He kept his eyes on the orange coloured oil that was on the shelf. He hoped it would be the right one for him. He had never bought scents before and wanted it to be a special scent that he could always rely on to make whatever room he lit it in smell wonderful. But for now, he waited patiently for Ment to help the other lady first.

It took the slender woman a moment to realize she was being addressed, but when she did, she jolted with surprise and looked up. "Me? Ah..." No escaping it now, she supposed. "Well, I, yes," What would be suitable? What wouldn't she mind around the house? "Light, yes. Something refreshing, perhaps? I don't want anything too thick or, or," her glance flickered over to Jeweled Aurora. "Silly. Sensible, calming, that's what I would like, I suppose. Nothing too noticeable. Do you have any suggestions?"
She felt half ridiculous in the scent shop, a plain woman in unfamiliar territory, talking to one of the least plain people she had even seen in her life. To feel more comfortable she crossed her arms in front of her, embarrassed that she had distracted the shopkeeper from the other man he was serving, who probably actually came in intending to buy something.

Ment gave Linnea a smile as she describe to him in her off-guard state something she in particular would like to have burning in her home. She seemed a little intimidated by the selection before her, or simply by Ment himself; he couldn't decide which at this point. He simply nodded and repeated her, "Simple, light and calming. Maybe something more natural?"
Walking his way past her he picked something up off a near by table, tucking it securely between his arm and body before grabbing a second vial, and a third. They clicked lightly together as he made his way back to Linnea, producing his small haul to her in hopes of something being there.
"This one is called Oasis, it's water based and is supposed to remind you of a relaxing day out by the ocean," He explained, taking the lightly colored aqua liquid out from under his arm and handing it to Linnea.
As Linnea took the bottle to inspect the contents, Ment shot a glance over at Anthony who seemed to be eyeing one of their flower based Scents. Ment smiled while addressing Anthony, "If there's anything you'd like to take of whiff of sir, feel free. Afterall, can't decide on something you want if you haven't smelt it yet."
