Xue does not often venture outside without some member of his family to go with him. But today is different. He is on an important mission, and taking anyone along could compromise it. Moreover, it is dangerous, and he cannot risk endangering anyone else.
He packs his bag with a few essentials, including his sketchbook (though it is mostly filled with crayon drawings, and very few pieces one would call sketches), his flashlight, and a number of muffins and cookies wrapped in clean cotton napkins. He wears a deep green scarf, even though the weather is starting to warm up. And in his hands is a short staff, though it is actually taller than he is. It is painted an eye-smarting shade of pink and has metal caps on both ends. With this, he feels he is prepared for anything!
Three hours and a great deal of walking later, however, Xue is exhausted and discouraged. He has eaten nearly half of his provisions, his scarf is dragging on the ground, about to fall off, and he is leaning heavily on the staff. Nothing he has seen so far has been promising. He isn't even sure where he is- some kind of park, perhaps, but not one he has seen before. So he is lost. But Xue will not give up! He will never be defeated!
... so he proclaims, as he drops onto the grass, too tired to move.

Meirou blinked, hearing the proclamations of another porcelain in the park, and looked over in Xue's direction, seeing the boy on the grass. Of course, being curious and a bit worried about the boy, she headed over to his side.
Is he alright? Did he just arrive in Gaia or has he been here for a while? And where did he come from?
Meirou pokes the boy's hand gently, just to let him know that she is there, and not about to harm or attack him. Maybe she should get Kanna......

Xue looks up, grinning madly. Although he is too tired to jump up and dance around like he normally would, his mind is frantic with thoughts of Porcelain Friend Yay Hello! Even if he did not set out looking for friends, he is always happy to find some!
Still prone, he nods, then shakes his head, and then nods again. Yes, Xue is alright. He just needs a moment to rest, and then he will be as good as new. No, Xue did not just arrive in Gaia- yes, he has been here a while. He lifts one hand and points it in the general direction he came from. It was a long way by walking. Xue is probably in Barton now, isn't he?
Most of his discouragement has faded, and he shakes his head once more. The lady shouldn't worry about him. He is a brave soldier, and it will take more than this to do him in! The evil tried to strike him down, but it will not keep him down for long. He will save the princess from the bad things, she will see!
At the end of this slightly jumbled statement, Xue admits that most of it came from the stories his brothers read to him. They like books about knights in shining armor, and Xue must admit, he likes them too. But if this princess does need his help, Xue would be happy to provide it... in about five minutes, anyway. sweatdrop

Meirou sits down beside the boy to keep him company with a small smile. What is the boy's name~? Meirou is Meirou, and would be worried if she was someone else.
Yes, young warrior is in Barton, right near the symphony~ He has walked very far indeed! Meirou is impressed with how far he walked without collapsing. Well, until now anyway. But the rest is sure one wonderful reward, huh?
Evil tried to strike him down? What sort of evil? Meirou wants to see what evil this was....and drop it from the top of a tall building to time how long it would take to hit the ground! And compose an ode to it...And so on.
Meirou doesn't know a princess....But she knows two princes! One she only vaguely remembers...And the other is here in Gaia! Has the knight met Shuuken before?

Quite pleased indeed by the company, Xue stretches his legs out comfortably. Xue is Xue, and he is very happy to meet Meirou! Xue is always happy to meet new people, and admits that he might not know if Meirou was secretly someone else, but is glad that she is not. He thinks.
Symphony? That idea doesn't register, but if he is in Barton then he walked quite a ways indeed, considering his home is by the beach. Usually when he comes to Barton he comes by train, and so he doesn't end up in unfamiliar places like this one. He hopes he remembered his secret weapon, but will check after enjoying a longer rest.
Quick to reassure her, Xue insists that it was not really evil. The Lost Monster is more annoying than evil, and very easy to defeat if one knows the trick. As to dropping it off a building, or composing an ode... well, Xue has never tried either of those things (and is not entirely sure how to try), since he has met very few monsters. And he did not come up against any other monsters yet, which is disappointing, since it is the reason he set out on this journey.
But when Meirou mentions Shuuken, Xue sits up sharply. Meirou cannot mean the Demon Monster, can she? A very dangerous monster, that one, to take the appearance of a Porcelain. Xue has only met it once, and he defeated it with his magic light. But the light only works for a short time, and he is sure the Demon Monster is out there somewhere, doing... whatever it is Demon Monsters do.

Meirou is also happy Xue is Xue and not some imposter...Though she would also not know if there WAS an imposter as well. So Xue is not alone in that theory.
The symphony is where Kanna plays, Meirou explains. It's the big building over there. She pointed to emphasise her point. And there are many musical instruments there. It's where Meirou arrived in Gaia.
Oh good. So the Lost Monster won't devour your friends...Or books. Meirou is relieved to hear so. And perhaps Meirou and Xue should try composing an ode or dropping it off of a building...Or TAME it. For the greater good!
Shuuken is the Demon Monster? gonk Shuuken swore her time to Meirou to protect her as a Prince protects a Princess! ...Though Meirou is sure Shuuken is a princely princess. Kanna met Shuuken way back before Meirou arrived in Gaia, apparently.....
Meirou thinks over the possibility carefully, frowning to herself.
Speaking of Princes....Does Xue know an elegant prince who left his jacket with Meirou? Meirou wants to return it to him....And possibly return the favor.

More than a bit confused, Xue takes several deep breaths and considers things. He does like the idea of this 'symphony' place. Usually he would just play whatever and wherever, but a whole building devoted to playing! Do they have a specific game they play, or do they rotate? Xue has favorite games, but it is fun to learn new ones and switch things around every so often. He would very much like to visit sometime!
After a moment's pause, he reassures Meirou that the Lost Monster doesn't devour anything. It makes things and people impossible to find. He has heard that some things get lost so badly that they never, ever get found, which is a very scary idea to him. But- and here he rummages in his bag before triumphantly pulling out an enormous sheet of paper, folded at odd angles- the Lost Monster's worst enemy is a map! So Meirou does not need to worry.
He is still does not quite understand what this 'ode' is, or why one would drop a monster off a building, but he cheerfully agrees that it might be fun to try. However, it is her last idea that really appeals to him. Taming a monster! Of course, what a perfect idea! Meirou is so smart! 3nodding
Xue's silly grin practically slides off his face, however, as the topic turns back to the Demon Monster, and he nods seriously. He is quite sure that the one called Shuuken is in fact the Demon Monster, and very dangerous. But, he recalls, that monster didn't seem like a mean monster to him. In fact, the Demon Monster protected him from other monsters until he could subdue them with his magic light. So maybe this Shuuken is not bad. But Xue is certain that there is only one Demon Monster. Perhaps it wears different faces?
He also thinks carefully, pausing in his thoughts to note that he knows no princes. No real princes, anyway, and he doesn't think Meirou is interested in him and his brothers playing pretend. sweatdrop

Meirou gently explains that the symphony is where people get together and make music on instruments. However, she DOES know of a building devoted to running around and playing games! She has walked by it a few times, so he need not be saddened!
Oh how wonderful! Xue will be safe from the Lost Monster indeed! Meirou happily nods again, glad to see the boy will be safe. The idea of something never getting found is also scary to Meirou....She doesn't know what she would do if she lost one of her books!
Meirou thinks for a moment before explaining that an 'ode' is a piece of music or poetry, perhaps?, dedicated to something. They're not very long, usually. And one would drop a monster off a building to see how fast it would fall, of course! Meirou assures him it is a great idea to tame a monster, though she is quite sure she could not do it alone...And with Xue's great knowledge of monsters, he would be the perfect tamer!
Ah...So the Demon Monster is dangerous, though kind towards Porcelain. What does it think about Gaians, though? Meirou fears for Kanna's safety, though she is sure Kanna could defend herself with those heavy instrument cases.....
Meirou's Prince saved her from drowning when a wave swept her away from the Golden World....He also bandaged her head and left her with his jacket, which she hopes to return. Meirou doesn't blame him for this at all...She misses her mother, but is happy to be living with Kanna.

Ooooooh, Xue gets it! He does like music, but he doesn't think anyone in his family is all that musically inclined. Which strikes him as odd, actually. Xue had always his family had basically everything covered. He stops worrying about that, and instead gets excited over this new building. What is it called? Xue would love to see it! But that doesn't make him any less interested in the symphony place.
... well, not much less interested. sweatdrop
Puffing up his chest, Xue proudly brandishes the map. He will protect Kanna and her books! What sort of books are there? Xue has picture books and drawing books at home. His siblings have mostly storybooks, and Des has cookbooks! But Xue likes his books best.
He tries very hard to remember the new information Meirou is feeding him. An ode is a short musical poem, check! Falling off of buildings to find speed, check! None of this means very much to him, but he does seem to get the gist of it. He blushes slightly at her praise, and agrees that it is too big a job for one person. But if they work together, they just might succeed! 3nodding
Although reluctant to do so, Xue admits that he does not know all that much about the Demon Monster. He only met it once, and it was in the company of other monsters at the time. He barely escaped. But somehow Xue does not think that it is the kind of monster that would attack anyone without a reason. It did help him, after all.
Drowning? Oh no! Xue is very glad that Meirou did not drown, and that her prince was there. He can see why Meirou wants to find him. Xue promises to keep his eyes open for any princely people.
So, Meirou is also from this Golden World place. Xue is sorry she is away from her family. But he promises that Gaia is a nice place to live, when she gets used to it! Xue is happy here, so he is sure the others will be too.

The building is called the City Museum! Though it isn't like an art museum at all. You apparently can run around and play with stuff, and get waaaaaaaay up high without worrying about falling! Because it's all enclosed! Meirou has seen the amazing structure, and Kanna promised to let her go...Maybe Xue could join them!
Kanna likes books about history, and music. She thinks she likes fictional stories as well, though Meirou has been too busy to try to read one. Oh, and she has cook books too!
Yes! Working together sounds like a good idea! It means they can have a better chance of doing so! So which monster should they tame first?
Ah....Meirou understands exactly what Xue is saying. It's usually in a good mood then?
The girl thanks him happily, smiling and nodding. She is also happy she did not drown! And that she came to Gaia and met Xue, Shuuken, Gongjin, and...everyone else!

The sit-ee moo-see-um? Xue scrunches his face, but as Meirou explains he nods excitedly. That sounds like a lot of fun! Well, except the going waaaaaaaaay high up. Even if there isn't a danger of falling, Xue would be happier not going all that high. sweatdrop
So many books! @_@; Xue is a bit awed, but mentions that he's at least seen lots of books before, when his family goes to the library. So maybe there isn't a reason to be overwhelmed yet.
Xue strokes his chin thoughtfully. There, he explains, lies the problem. He has walked all the way from Gambino, and has yet to encounter a single monster. He hasn't even found the Lost Monster, because while he doesn't know exactly where he is, he can find out easily with the map. So while Xue and Meirou might be an awesome monster taming tag-team, they have to find a monster to tame first.
Nodding, Xue confirms this. Or at least, the time when Xue met the Demon Monster, it was in a good mood.
Yes! Gaia is full of Porcelain, so Meirou will not be lonely. And he is glad he met Meirou too. His feelings about Shuuken remain mixed, but Gongjin- oh, Xue knows who that is! He's a monster tamer too, Xue thinks. If they need help, maybe it would be good to ask him.

Meirou nods, understanding the fear of heights. It does seem rather scary, but....Yes, she must agree she would also be happier not being up that high. UNLESS it involved Paul Hewitt!
Kanna DOES have a lot of books....But not as many as the library. Meirou doesn't think she's THAT obsessed with reading...
So the monster's aren't out and about today? Well...At least Xue is safe. Perhaps a monster will show up later that they can tame!
Meirou nods again in reply, listening happily. So Gongjin is also a monster tamer! Perhaps they will be the 'Three Musketeers' or something...Like those chocolate bars! But Meirou fails to see how chocolate bars relate to a book about three heroes....

Who-it? Xue has not heard of this person, and simply shudders at the thought of being high up. He has trouble going upstairs sometimes. sweatdrop
Just because Xue has not seen any monsters does not mean they aren't around, he warns. It would not be good for them to let their guard down. That was how the Dark Monster got him last time, when the light in his room broke. Xue will not be taken by surprise again!
Well, maybe not a Monster Tamer by trade. sweatdrop But he did offer to help Xue fight the Lost Monster last time, so he must know some kind of way to fight monsters. If they want to find him, they could probably ask Oneechan~ Oh and Xue has heard of Three Musketeers before! The chocolate, that is. He did not know there was a book about it. And about heroes too! It sounds like one he would like to hear.

Yes, Hewit! But because he is Meirou's almost-best-friend, she can call him Paul.
There's a dark monster too?! Meirou is amazed at the sheer number of these monsters. Are they all like one big family?
Oneechan? Who is Xue's Oneechan? Perhaps Meirou has met her...And yes. Very good fluffy chocolate. Kanna ALWAYS has chocolate in the apartment! And Meirou thinks the candy was named after the book...She thinks it's about three heroes who team up to fight evil or something like that... sweatdrop

Oh, Xue sees. It is good to have best friends! But why is Paul an almost-best-friend? confused
Oh yes! Xue nods seriously, and opens his satchel, pulling a thick notebook out of it. A few pages fall out as he opens it to a picture of a purple monster with perhaps a dozen arms and green hair, drawn in colored pencil. The lines are not particularly neat, and it's quite obvious that the picture was drawn by someone without a great deal of experience.
This, Xue explains, is the Mold Monster. It comes when food is left in the fridgator for too long. The next picture is completely black, with curls of gray around the edges. This is the Dark Monster. It exists, see? And they probably are a big (scary) family.
Oneechan~ is Oneechan~ of course! Nusumu-oneechan~ who is awesome and makes delicious food like Des does, and lives with a dinosaur, and has all sorts of cool stuff, and is super good at hide-and-seek! Xue thinks very highly of her... though she does not seem to be very fond of him. sweatdrop But he does know where to find her, and she will probably listen to someone smart like Meirou.
Three heroes! What a wonderful idea! If two are better than one, then three must be better than two. Although Xue admits, fighting evil sounds like it is a very big job for just three people. He is not sure he is up to that yet. sweatdrop
