Intro
"The use of black magic corrupts the mind and the heart and the soul of the wizard employing it. It doesn't happen instantly, and it doesn't happen all at once—it's a slow, festering thing that grows like a tumor, until whatever human empathy and compassion a person might have once had is consumed in the need for power. By the time a wizard has fallen to that temptation and become a warlock, people are dead, or worse than dead. It is the duty of the Wardens to make a quick end of warlocks—by any means necessary.
The White Council of Wizards is the governing body for the practice of magic in the world, and made up of its most powerful practitioners. Being a member of the White Council is something akin to earning your black belt in a martial art—it means that you can handle yourself well, that you have real skill that is recognized by your fellow wizards. The Council oversees the use of magic among its members, according to the Seven Laws of Magic." -Harry Dresden in Turn Coat

Story
You are a wizard, vampire, or a being of the Nevernever. You can follow the seven laws (Shown below), or not. Just keep in mind that if you do not, the White Council will be on you for it, and they aren’t nice. This RP is a social fantasy Role Play. There probably will not be a real plot, and characters depth will be shown mostly through the actual posts that you make than the Character Profiles.

The Seven Laws of Magic
Wizards in violation of the Laws are called warlocks. Through the "Grey Cloaks" aka Wardens, the punishment for violating the Seven Laws is administered. The punishment is almost always death. Warlocks may be spared from the punishment of execution if a wizard of the White Council takes responsibility for them; however, if the warlock violates the laws again, both are executed. This probationary status is known as the Doom of Damocles (a reference to the Sword of Damocles). The Laws are as follows:
1. Thou shalt not kill by use of magic. Wizards of the White Council are forbidden to kill human beings through the use of their power. Self-defense is very occasionally allowed as a mitigating factor. This Law is also a primary reason Wardens wield swords. Wardens are allowed to kill those warlocks who have broken the laws; Wardens are given somewhat of a free pass in regards to this Law in combat circumstances. The Law is very flexible, however, in regards to things that are not actually human. A wizard may kill, for example, a vampire, ghoul, or any being of the Nevernever without penalty.
2. Thou shalt not transform others. Even if a spell to do this is done successfully (as it is an extremely difficult spell), transformation of another's body against their will – changing a man into an animal, for example – creates an imbalance between body and mind that ultimately degrades the transformed subject's mind to an animal state as well. (Transformation of oneself through magic is not necessarily as destructive, but still risky and potentially hazardous)
3. Thou shalt not invade the mind of another. Forcible magical violation of someone's mind by extracting knowledge against their will is inherently destructive. Mind magic is so dangerous that the Council has not even dared trying to explore how to build better defenses, which gives an advantage to black wizards less bound by scruples.
4. Thou shalt not enthrall another. Enthrallment is the term for dominating another human's mind and personality through magic by binding their will to your own; it is not the same as compelling beings of the Nevernever through arrangements or exchanges. So long as the wizard in question does not actually control the being through magic, the law is not broken. A popular alternative is trapping the creature in a magic circle until it accepts the terms of a bargain, though some Wardens have ignored this distinction in their zeal. As with mind-probing, magically controlling the mind of another person is an inherently destructive and evil act – it is almost impossible to control safely and precisely, and taints the user of the power as well as the subject even if done for the best of intentions. This taint often sends the user into a self-destructive downward spiral, where every act of magical mind control further twists the user and makes more such acts likelier; if the cycle progresses far enough, the user becomes functionally sociopathic, and impossible to rehabilitate.
5. Thou shalt not reach beyond the borders of life. This prohibits the research and practice of necromancy, described as the summoning, binding, and exploitation of the unwilling dead (the psychic talent of mediums for speaking to willing spirits is called ectomancy, and is not governed by the same Law). It would also theoretically prohibit any attempt to genuinely resurrect someone from the dead back to true life. As the Laws are intended to protect humans against the abuse of magic, a loophole in this law allows the practice of necromancy on non-human dead.
6. Thou shalt not swim against the Currents of Time. This prohibits any attempt to change the past through temporal manipulation for fear of paradoxes. Even divination of the future is frowned upon in all but the vaguest, most general instances.
7. Thou shalt not seek beyond the Outer Gates. It is unknown just what the Outer Gates are, but the implication of the series is that they mark the furthest boundaries of the multiverse. Beings from beyond the Gates are known only as Outsiders, and are among the deadliest threats to humanity known – their sheer existence is antithetical to the universe. They are also noted as being immune to most magic.

Rules
1.) Follow Gaia’s TOS
2) No godmoding or powerplaying, EVER! This will lead to you getting kicked out from the RP.
3.) PM me all profiles with the title 'The Dresden Files'. I like to check and make sure everything is set up correctly.
4) Be nice! If you don’t, people won’t like you, and you will likely get kicked out.
5.) Don’t post until you are accepted by me! If you post before that, you WILL NOT get accepted, even if your profile was phenomenal.
6.) Short posts are okay, but less than two sentences is unacceptable.
7.) All OOC posts should be shown in some way ex: ((blah blah blah))
8.) If you don’t post for more than three days/ three pages(unless we really get going, and three pages comes uber fast) of the RP, you will be kicked out. So, keep active! (This doesn’t count if you say beforehand that you are leaving for whatever period of time. I would like you to get your character alone if you do this.)
9.) These rules may be changed at any time by me. If you have another rule you would like me to add, tell me in either a PM or OOC.

Character choices
I’ve listed a few who I thought were important in the books/TV show, but you do not have to use these characters. You can make up new ones. If you have read the books or seen the sow, you can suggest a few more that I could put up. If you use the characters below, I would prefer that you have read the books so that you know their personalities and whatnot. For a little more background on these characters, you can go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Dresden_Files_charactersHarry Dresden Karrin Murphy ‘Bob’ Molly CarpenterThe Archive(Ivy) William “Billy” Borden Michael Carpenter Charity Carpenter Ebenezar McCoy “Gentleman” Johnny Marcone Donald Morgan Anastasia Luccio Inari Raith Thomas Raith Susan Rodrigues Carlow Ramirez Arthur Langtry (The Merlin) Ancient Mai Aleron LaFortier Rashid, The Gatekeeper Martha Liberty Joseph Listens-to-Wind (Injun Joe) Mother Winter Mother Summer Mab Leanansidhe Lloyd Slate Jenny Greenteeth Titania Aurora Lily Ronald Reuel Fix

Character Profiles
You must use a picture for your character, and all fields must be filled out. Like I said, most character aspects only have to be covered briefly here, and will probably mostly be shown through your posts. Species could be: Wizard, Human, Sidhe/Fae(Faerie), Vampire, Werewolf, Shapeshifter, ghost or any other supernatural being that you can think would be in the world of humans [imgright]Insert image URL here[/imgright]Username: insert username here Character Name: insert character name here Character Age: insert age here Species: insert species here Bio: insert Bio here Personality: Insert Personality here

Accepted profiles I'm setting this up so that it looks good on my computer screen. If it looks weird on yours, too bad. Username: Fall out of the skyCharacter Name: Achiriyz FaeCharacter Age: 106Species: Sidhe (Fae/Faerie)Bio: She grew up as a princess to the Summer throne, but thrown out when her sister, Aurora was born. She now lives in the human world, assisting Wizards when they ask for it. She is kind of like an informant to the White Council for the Fae movements. She usually disguises herself as a Pixie.Personality: Like all Sidhe, she is secretive and gives out puzzles instead of saying things straight out. She is happy-go-lucky, like most Summer Sidhe, and can look for the silver lining in all bad situations.~*~ Username: Tomha_Domizoko Character Name: Thomas Veldin Character Age: 36 Species: Wizard Bio: Thomas is a Wizard who started a Charity Organization. He would be there to help but one day he completely changed and now does nothing to help others. The organization ended quickly after he changed Personality: At one point a kind hearted respectable person, now he's demented and lonely being.~*~ Username: Oxymoron Synonym Character Name: Molly Carpenter Character Age: 18 Species: Witch Bio: Molly's parents are Michael and Charity and she has 6 little brothers and sisters. She recently discovered that she has magical powers, just like Harry. She thinks it's pretty amazing, but at first she used her powers to take over her friends' minds and influence them not to do things that were harmful. This was against the Seven Laws, but she sort of got out of trouble with Harry's help. Now she's under the Doom of Damocles. Personality: Molly is very much like her mother. She's extremely stubborn and listens to very few people. She's very curious and this often gets her into trouble.

Achiriyz flitted around the town, sniffing out something good to eat. She ended up on a window sill, munching on a plate of cookies that was left there to cool. She finished one, and then flitted back out the window, just in time to not get smooshed under the window when a human closed it. She flew to one of her constant customer's homes. It was a Wizard, and Wizards usually knew just what the Sidhe liked. She wasn't even sure what she wanted, but a Wizard would likely give her something.

There was a small house outside of town. The townspeople knew Thomas lived there but nobody dares to bother him, let alone get near his home. There was a foul stench around his house like a rotting corpse. Since only the town authority knew a Wizard was killed in self defense they believe that body is lying around the house somewhere. The wizard inside the house named Thomas just sat in his wooden chair reading a book he one day found that talks about Lichdom. Tomha had no intention of trying to become a Lich but did seem to like reading about the undead since there was no law against reading about undeath, as far as he knew.

Molly sat on a bench in the park, watching people. She was bored and didn't have much else to do besides study, which she didn't really feel like doing at the moment. While playing with her trusty bracelet, Molly almost laughed out loud when a passing mother moved her young son to her other side, away from Molly. She supposed she must look pretty menacing, with all of her piercings, fishnets, leather jacket and combat boots. Sighing, Molly wondered what else she could do besides watch people and scare mothers with small children.

Inside of the house, Achiriyz looked at the Wizard. The smell in the house was atrocious. "Tommy~!" She shouted and she flitted around his wooden chair, "I'm bored! Do you anything for me to do?" She stopped and landed on his shoulder.

The inside of the house had damaged and broken furnature and blood stains leading to the basement door. The stench was coming from the basement. He glared at the sidhe. "Who are you and what do you want? I don't know you, I never met you. What do you want?" He said as he closed his book. His memory was never well, before the creature can respond he repeated "What do you want?" one more time.

"That's so mean! How could you not remember me! I've helped you out in the past," Achiriyz protested, "I'm Achiriyz, but you always called me Riz. It was annoying!" She got off topic and rambled for about half a minute, "Nevermind all that! You're so mean!" She made a pouting face.

"Of course I'm mean, I'm extremely angry so being mean comes with the rage. I still can't get over Necromancy being outlawed. Imagine what I could do with it. Since I have many books, some even one of a kind about such magic I could be the ultimate necromancer. Hmmm..." He paused as a thought hit him.
"I think I got an idea. Laws of Magic are laws, which means...?" He tried to quiz Riz. He smiled wickedly as he rushed to his bookshelf.

"Are you thinking about breaking the Law?!?" Riz shouted, though it wasn't so loud because of her tiny body, "I'll have to tell the council if you do and don't bribe me to not tell them!" She was being unusually straightforward. If she knew she was going to get something out of it, even she could lie to the council.
((Oh, I forgot to put this somewhere in the first few posts to set up the RP, but if someone in the Magic community promises the same thing three times in a row, it becomes binding, and they have to keep that promise. So, you could try to make my character promise not to tell three times, and she wouldn't be able to.))
