The mucky ground made wet sounds as Kerberos' heavy weight shifted upon it, steps careful as he wandered in this new land. He found it... Interesting to say the least. It smelt of wet earth, water, and of course the forest.

Snorting quietly as a frog jumped off of his hoof he flicked his tail and kicked mud at the small creature that annoyed him. Swivelling his ears he turned immediately, wings shifting as he was ready to lash out. This place... Reminded him far too much of past deeds. The farther he got the more weary he became of what surrounded him.

"Show yourself!" He called out as he stamped his hoof and splashed mud against his other hooves and the continually-croaking frog that did not wander far, much to his distain. The blood-spattered look of his lower legs were slowly becomming splattered with mud, the dark substance covering up his morbid markings. At least the ones on his hooves.

She noticed the black stallion only a moment before he spoke, but it was long enough to keep her from startling when he cried out. Selene frowned thoughtfully to herself; what was he talking to? Clearly he hadn't actually noticed her, so either he was paranoid or he was insane. Possibly he was both. Possibly he was paranoid and insane because he was being stalked by a seer. The pale mare smirked; how very interesting.

"There's no need to shout," she said softly as she emerged from behind the thicket that had concealed her from view. On closer inspection, he had some fairly interesting markings; the white ones were intricate and quite attractive. Shame about the red splotching on his muzzle; made him look as though he'd been rather careless whilst gorging on berries. Selene chuckled internally at that thought, her personal imaginings of the black brute stuffing his face showing not at all on her face.

"So then, stranger who calls in the night," the pale mare went on as she openly looked him up and down, "who are you, and what do you want?" So angry his stance, so tense. What did he expect her to do? Attack him? Had he perhaps expected her to be someone else, someone he knew? Perhaps that seer stalker she had imagined for him, if there truly were any of them in the world today. Well, perhaps she would find out soon.

Nostrils flaring the stallion stamped a hoof once again, muscles shuddering under his coat as the cold water hit his bloody markings. It didn't seem like this strong boy needed to be fearful of anything, his looks were intimidating enough to really scare away anything that would want to hurt him.

Turning to her as she emerged it was obvious that he was still tense. This mare was of the same breed, but unpredictable still. The pale mare had a look about her... He was not going to relax his nerves. No, he was far too smart to let anyone lull him into a false sense of security.

"One could ask you the same thing." He snorted, wings shifting as he moved. "I am Kerberos, and my reasons for being here are my own. What of you, pale one?" She stood out quite obviously against the trees here. One would think she wouldn't want to get her hooves dirty in this swampy, mucky land.

Selene gave an inscrutable smile and moved closer, careless of the muck that began to coat her lower legs as she stepped onto the swampier ground. "What a coincidence. My reasons are my own as well." Berry Face. She would call him berry face to herself. Tense and nervous, oh what did berry face fear? "I'll go one better than you have though," she said with a flick over her long, now mud-marred tail. "My name is Selene. Quite a lovely night, isn't it?"

Secretive berry face, tense and secretive. Was he here to do something taboo? Was fear of discovery the reason for his tension? It seemed he wasn't about to tell her anything interesting though. Perhaps this night would turn out dull after all. Still, however it came out, she had to quite admire those white markings. So clear and crisp, so startling against his midnight pelt.

Fear? It was not fear that made Kerberos so tense... He feared nothing aside from the demons that dwelled within him, threatening to spill over and create bloodshed wherever he went. For now they were quiet however, letting him watch this female, gauge her reactions. "...It is a fine night." He replied, still watching her carefully.

Berry face... His hooves would smash her to peices if he ever heard her say such a rediculous thing. The markings she so admired were reminders of what had been done, what he had done.

What a boring thing. No conversational skills at all. Just went to show you couldn't judge a Nequus by their skin she supposed. Pity. Well, at least he was still something to look at. Not much more. All the personality of a stone. The white mare chuckled and began to move slowly around the other Aeri, studying every one of his interesting marks.

"So then, Kerberos, mysterious stranger of few manners," the mare purred, "out here all alone are you? Not here for a romantic meeting with anyone?... Oh, but of course your reasons are your own." How tiresome. Should she just walk away? To think that he might be hounded by a magicer was surely wishful thinking on her part. No. He was just a boring antisocial stallion over above average height and below average intellect. Shame about the red splashes really; they didn't go very well with the white marks he bore. He would be far more handsome without the silly berry-splashes. Still not quite up to her standards though. Few were.

"In the interest of stimulating some semblance of conversation, let me tell you why I am here," Selene said after a few moments with a smirk. "I am out here looking for interest and intrigue. Seems I am to be disappointed this night, does it not Kerberos?"

If this mare knew about his past, Kerberos surely would not be so boring. A pure-white colt whose coat darkened to what it was now? Much more interesting than the less-than-social stallion he was now.

"Manners are not something one learns when trying to survive." He snorted, continuing to watch Selene. "I am here alone - aside from you. This is no romantic place. What couple would meet here, in the swamplands?" He snorted again, in mirth giving a low chuckle. "Hardly seems ideal, covered in leeches and mud."

While he did not relax the large stallion seemed to loosen up slightly. He was not being attacked, though the conversation was a tad annoying. He was unused to being spoken to so much. "Seems you are to be dissapointed if you are looking to me for intrigue."

Selene gave him a faint smile and shrugged her wings, looking him up and down again. "Well, I suppose there is no accounting for tastes, now is there? I suspect the Dirn would think this quite a lovely spot to come, if perhaps a trifle too dry..." A trifle too dry and boring. Oh yes indeed. She'd got herself all muddy for this? Not worthwhile at all. Ah well.

"Do you struggle to survive then, Kerberos?" she quizzed with a hint of a smirk. "Does the plentiful grass of D'ob run away from you when you try to graze? Do the many fruits of these very lands take wing at your approach?" More likely he was just so very boring that anyone with half a brain tried to kill him on sight in order to make the world a slightly less tiresome place. Or perhaps he was just so boring that he was even boring himself to death. Berry Face the Boring. That name had quite a nice ring to it.

"If you are struggling to live, why come to these oh-so terrible swamps in any case?" the white mare thought to add. "Hardly an ideal location to find the cleanest water or the finest food." Perhaps he was running away from something. She could believe that. Maybe he had tried to steal away a mare who was too good for him. Perhaps he had killed someone; he looked strong enough to do so if the mood took him, and his manner was dour and odd enough for him to be one of those crazed killers. Well, she would like to see him try it on with her. She'd beat the fool to a pulp, and that would certainly make her day a little less dull.

"Some may find this to be an ideal place... But I do not." It certainly was -not- dry. One's hooves could rot right off the ends of their legs if they remained in this muck for too long.

Stamping a hoof slightly he gave a snort. Who did this female think she was? "It is not the food that runs from me, it is the others that do not wish for me to share it with them." Maybe another Aeri was not afraid of his massive form, but other Nequus were not so forgiving of one that could easily deliver a crushing blow to their skulls.

"The swamps are not riddled with other Nequus driving me from my home for their own assumptions." Where Selene saw berry-stains, others saw blood. He was a black-coated Aeri with blood-stained hooves and muzzle. A terrible omen if anyone ever thought of one. It made him seem much more interesting, to be a herald of death rather than a berry-stained rather dull stallion.

Selene chuckled softly. "Oh no. Are the bad Nequus mean to you Kerberos? Well, nevermind, I shan't bully you at least." She wasn't sure what she was going to do with him though. There really didn't seem to be much else to say other than good day, and I hope we never meet again unless you have miraculously become more interesting than a small grey pebble.

"Assumptions are terrible things," the white mare added thoughtfully, shaking her head. She had assumed there was something special about him thanks to his odd behavior. Seemed it was just another case of a social misfit. Some people could be very silly about black coats, although in all honesty she had met far more Nequus of bright hue who displayed sinister characteristics than dark coated ones. There had been that other black Aeri stallion lately, but at least he'd had the decency to be fascinating. Those bones. She was still wondering about them from time to time.

"In any case Kerberos," Selene said, shuffling her wings against her flanks. "Since it seems I want nothing of you, and you want nothing of me I might as well be off to let you get on with brooding, humm?"

This female's tone was getting rather irritating. Kerbros snorted, tossing back his head before watching her. One had to probe deeper than dull questions to get more than dull answers... His past may be a good place to start.

Not this time however. Just as long as she got out of his face... He would be content to let her leave. Snorting he nodded. "Fine. Let us part our ways."

Selene chuckled to herself and gave the strange but boring stallion and nod before turned and setting off at a brisk trot. The sooner she found a clear river or lake to wash off in, the happier she would be. Ears pricked forward, the tall white mare moved on with her never ending search for the interesting things in life.
