If you could, would you power your house with clockwork and a crank?
  Yes!
Sometimes, like if the power is out
Probly not, it'd be fun for parties or something though.
  No, I doubt I would.
No way in hell! Thats stupid
What? You expect me to get off the computer and actually Turn a crank?! By Myself?! BLASPHEMY!

Clockworks have so many uses. What would be your favorite?

Discuss uses for clockwork, real or not.

As for me I think clockworks could be used for power. using a set of gears you could literally "wind up" a generator and distribute the kinetic energy to turbines to make power. All you'd have to do is wind it now and then. If we did it right it COULD be used in the real world.

Yes! Looking to go green? Why not go STEAM? (or clock! or both!) XD
Also, I think cars should be turned into pedal cars, with pedals for every seat, that way everyone can contribute to powering it. You get your exercise and won't be dependent on oil anymore.
Has anyone seen City of Ember? If not, I recommend it. It's pretty predictable plot-wise, but it's definitely got some steamy elements to it.
The entire city is powered by a generator (I believe via waterworks, not steam).

Yea, not only is it green but it would be very cheep. And to boot it would be pretty awesome XD

And yea, people don't see the potential in clockworks and steam. people are to lazy to get off their arses and turn a handle now and then. They'd rather pollute and spend money needlessly.

I think that the incessant ticking of clockwork would drive me insane if everything were powered by it.

Though it can't be any worse than the high-pitched hiss of electricity... *shudder*

Yea, I'm pretty sensitive to electricity. I can see and hear it sometimes.

And I kind of like the ticking sound of clocks. its soothing to me

It'd be pretty useful, if the power goes out. Which for me is atleast three times a year. Yup, the ticking of clocks would drive me mad, listening to a clock ticking in the middle of the night is irritating enough.

lol, why is it I'm the only one who likes the sound of clocks ticking at night? XD

perhaps its the result of that time I was stuffed in a dryer when I was an infant...oh well, these things happen.

How did that happen?

You'd love Time Management. Well, the beginning at least...

I prefer the sound of Allfactory, myself, but Youtube doesn't have a recording on it...
