The female was tired of trying to survive on her own. She had been drained with the birth of her three pups, and then she had been left, to deal with the pups on her own.
Of course, She wasnt sure where her other pups had gone, she only had Warrick at the moment.
Oh God how she prayed her other two were both okay..Both growing into gorgeous happy wolves.
But this wasnt the life for her. This wasnt the life for her son.
She picked up her feet a bit, her once bright eyes slightly duller, but yet still holding the strength in them.
She wasnt weak. Though it seemed she was, by being duped by a male, or being alone and tired..Drained of her faith. She was not weak.
She was a strong wolf, and she was a protector.
But she was in need of protecting herself..

Alas moved along the border of the Akiiki Chibale territory, she loved the land, but it was because of her family. Her beloved mate, her children both biological and adopted, and all the others. Even the cold beta, Twix, had slowly come to accept her and understand that a healer was often needed as much as a warrior. She moved along her nose twitching as she plucked herbs from the ground.
Her head lifted and she inhaled curiously, there was another wolf nearby. Her body tensed, after all they hadn't had any friendly visits of late. Still she moved in the direction curious to see who it could be.

She sniffed along the earth, searching for the scent of something edible to silence her growling belly. Her last kill had gone to her son.. and he had shared, but there was little of the rabbit left after he had finished.
But what her nose picked up was not that of a prey animal, but that of another wolf. Instantly her body went rigid as she prepared to defend herself.
If she had wandered into someones territory she didnt know.. And she would turn around and leave.
But she sniffed again, and felt pulled to the scent.
She didn't smell something to be afraid of..Though she was going to remain cautious.

Soft blue eyes fell on the female not to far ahead, she was straddling the border, luckily she didn't look like she had come from the enemy lands. Her nose twitched and she relaxed sitting down and offering the other a smile.
"Welcome to Akiiki Chibale, I am Libenalas, but everyone just calls me Alas. What brings you to our packlands?"
She tilted her head curiously, perhaps the female was just wandering but she did look as if she were searching for something. Alas felt no need to announce herself as Alpha female, her confidence and pride came from her calm and healing abilities. If Crunch was the strict and protective father of the pride, then Alas was surely the tender loving mother to it.

Artemis looked up to the smiling pink wolf, and her tail wagged oh so softly. She wasnt trusting yet, after all, she had been hurt by the one she had trusted the last time.
But this female smelled kind..and the smile was doing nothing to change that.
"Hello."
She said with her own little smile.
"My name is Artemis. Its a pleasure to meet you Alas."
She said, lowering her body so that she was submitting. She was just used to submitting, she had never been very high in her pack ranks.
She stood in front of Alas, her head cocked slightly.
"So Im in packlands? Do you know the alpha? Im looking for a nice pack.. A pack that can protect me and my young son."
She said with a nod.
Maybe the alpha of this pack was kind.

Alas ears perked happily at the soft voice, here was a female in need of a little tender care. She seemed to be cautious yet friendly, a sign that someone might have taken advantage of her.
"Actually, this is my pack." She chuckled softly, the pack belonged to each member and her voice held no tone of authority or cruelty.
"Well my mate is our Alpha Male, and I stand at his side as Alpha Female. Our pack is home to any who need need a place for family and friends." She frowned as she heard the other speak of her son and the need for protection.
"Are you in danger? You must bring your son and let us help you, we're a family here, we take care of each other." Now her tone was firmer, harder, a voice that had experienced hardship and didn't want others to suffer.

She smiled softly at the kindness of the female, her tail thumping against the earth as she sat.
"Oh we're in no danger. But I was not ready to be a mother, and he arrived and.. Well lets just say that I dont think I can support both of us on my own."
She was right after all, lately she had been so invested in making sure he was safe from predators, that she had been sharing rabbits as meals with him.
Rabbits were hard to get a fill on when there was just one and you were sharing with a growing boy.
"Its a pleasure to meet you.. I didn't realize you were the alpha of this pack, I apologize if I might have been rude at all.. I just am so tired lately."
She said with a nod.
Her body was thinner than it once had been, she had once been a very lean wolfess, now she was slowing going to skin and bones.
Her pelt losing its luxurious fluffiness.
Though somehow she still held on to her beauty.

"You must join us, please. Akiiki Chibale is a pack for all those who need the safety and friendship and support of family. We're almost all family actually, I'm certain you and your son would be welcome."
She hesitated a long moment before adding softly. "Though these lands are currently uneasy, the sea pack Agua Azul and the pack in the dark forest are out to cause problems. We band together because we're family and our home is worth fighting for. If you wish to avoid any issues I suggest you take your son far from this place."
She didn't want to see the female leave alone with her pup. She would rather take her home and help her, the poor dear. She looked like quite a beauty, a hungry beauty though. She felt her heart constrict at the thought of how her son must be, the sweet little one probably needed playmates his own age and a steadier supply of food.

Alas had hit the nail on the head with the female. Her and her son were both hungry, both tired.
Artemis shook her head with a gentle smile.
"Oh I dont mind fighting for my family.. And you will all be my family."
She said, a little flicker of hope written in her features.
"You fight for what you love. If you cannot fight for it, you cannot call it love."
She thought of how that pertained to her and her son.
She fought for his survival, risking her own to do so. She knew she loved that boy.
"Your offer of protection and kindness is enough to make me hope once more."
She said, her eyes happy. Her once worried features, now were relaxed with the knowledge that she could actually belong somewhere once more.

Alas smiled as the female agreed to join them and she stood with her tail wavering, a blur of pink and white. Her blue eyes were bright with happiness, her whole body cried welcome.
"There are pups in the pack now, I'm sure your son will like having playmates his own age." She nodded and turned towards the pack.
"Gather your son, and I'll escort you in my sister in law can be rather overzealous about border patrol. She can seem harsh, but she loves the pack with all her heart."

Artemis's fluffed tail wagged gently as she was invited into the pack. She was so happy to be safe, and she was happy to be able to make sure her son got the morals he needed.
She smiled, her fangy smile seeming friendly.
"Oh Id love Warrick to have someone to befriend. We are so alone in our little world, that I dont think hes had the chance to make many."
She said, her ears folding back, not wanting Alas to think her a bad mother.
"Im sure your sister in law is quite a loving character."

"Oh she's a character alright..." Alas smiled and laughed softly, she remembered the first time Twix laid eyes on her. There had been no love lost on behalf of the beta, it had been clear that she did not welcome her. Still time and much patience along with the pups had softened Twix and slowly she had come to accept and even feel protective for Alas.
"He'll have plenty of playmates in the pack, we are all treated as equal family here."
