(February 109)

Ryou moved through the Academy’s hallways at a slow pace, playing with the bullet her grandfather had given her as a good luck charm. As she moved she would toss it up, step under it, and catch it behind her back. Through this series of motions she had made a continuous loop around a block of classrooms, mostly avoiding having to do homework of any sort. She had some things that would be due tomorrow, but she just couldn’t focus on those right now. Coming up was another Bonding, the last of the season she was sure, and she had turned eighteen at the start of winter. She had been turned down at the previous bonding, and really didn’t want to go another year in the Academy. She had spent six years of her life here, she didn’t want to waste any more stuck behind the same four boring walls. She wanted to move and run and ride and protect the City like her ancestors had. And anyway, it was in the Kimms Family blood to bond and eighteen, she was bound to. She had promised her grandfather she would be out of the Academy in the same time he had, or less! Granted considering you couldn’t be out of the Academy until eighteen anyway, which had crushed her hopes of being out of here in half the time her grandfather had been. She had found that out AFTER she had bet him twenty dollars that she would be.
Ah well, Ryou sighed as she executed a more complicated catch, she would be out here soon enough, she had to keep believing that. Ryou glanced around here, god where was everyone? It wasn’t that late and it wasn’t like anyone actually DID homework the day it was given instead of the night it was due anyway.

Lysander walked aimlessly out of a classroom where he had shamelessly been trying to seduce a female teacher into not giving him homework. It hadn't gone exactly how he planned, but he'd accomplished his objective. Rather than homework, it was a thousand word essay on how it was wrong to objectify women which was to be completed in detention the next evening.

'Still... No homework.' He wadded up the piece of paper in his hand and threw it with impressive precision into the waste basket a few feet away. 'Boobie senses tingling.' Lysander looked up from the trash can and toward a rather impressive show of hand-eye coordination. He sauntered toward the girl nonchalantly. "Havin' fun there?" He inquired, putting on his best dashing smile.

Ryou barely spared the boy a glance at the boy as she let the bullet loose again, tossing it over his head and moving it around to catch it.
Honestly?” She asked, sarcasm laced her words, “Not in the least. But I find myself with nothing better to do right now, so here I am.” Ryou shrugged, common courtesy kept her from continuing her trek, so she made due with tossing it over her own head and catching it behind her back. She examined the boy, brown hair, gold eyes, goggles. Name…name….name… Ryou ran through the list of names she knew of those around the Academy. In all honesty she never really bothered to memorize names, nicknames were so much more fun anyway. AH yes Lysander! There we go, now at least she could address him properly as her Grandfather had always insisted she do.
OH! Hello there Lysander. Something I can help you with or have you gotten yourself into detention again?” She asked with a smile, chuckling slight but never missing a beat as she continued the steady rhythm with her bullet.

Lysander grinned. "I see my reputation preceeds me." He felt slightly bad not knowing her name, only slightly. He copped out this time. He would just have to give her a nickname of some sort later. For now... "I'm sure a pretty girl like you could find a lot to do given the right company." Lysander smirked. "I can help you with that." Obvious flirtation? Yes. Was it going to fail miserably? Well, that was up to the girl.

In all actuality, there were plenty females in the Academy and even more waiting in either of the forts. One strike-out wouldn't trouble him. The girl to boy ratio was in his favor, at least. Lysander's smile never faded. The bullet was getting irritating, though.

No.” Ryou corrected him with a smirk, “We have class together, History.” Ryou informed him, remembering the boy sat a few rows infront of her and diagonal three seats. Yes, that was where she knew him from indeed. It took Ryou a few seconds to realize he was actually flirting with her, he had been so obvious about it that she had assumed him to be joking at first. But once the realization properly sunk in Ryou broke out laughing. The kid was actually serious! She had been flirted with and hit on before, but nothing ever so obvious!
Sorry Goggles.” She said, wiping tears from her eyes and the bullet fell to the ground with a clatter, “Maybe next time my dear.” Ryou pulled herself together, inhaling sharply to help pull herself back together. Shaking her head and still mildly chuckling she bent down and retrieved the bullet, brushing it off and checking it over to make sure it was undamaged.

Emi started swearing when she saw her friend. She was sure that he was flirting with the girl who stood with him. What was her name? Emi knew she recognized the face but still was having a hard time remembering the name. Ah, whatever, I can just ask her. Maybe hit Lysander for being way to obvious. It looks bad, Emi thought to herself. She started walking towards the two. The girl had just dropped something. Looked like a bullet but Emi couldn't be sure.

"That's even better," Lysander replied, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. "I must have made an impression, then." He smirked. That was a good sign. Unless, of course, the girl had memorized everyone's name. In which case, she was already off of his list. Lysander disliked overly serious people. Then, as if to cure said dislike, the girl started laughing, just out of the blue. That said laughing was at his own expense eluded him until she began speaking again.

Even when he'd just been turned down, Lysander found something positive in her remark. He smiled, despite having just been laughed at. "My dear?" Lysander joined in the chuckling. "You call everyone that or am I just that lucky?" That, and she'd already given him a nickname. 'Goggles, eh? Whatever floats her boat.' At this point, he supposed he'd have to give her a nickname. She obviously found the flirting hilarious, so she'd probably find a pet name even more funny.

A pet name was supposed to provide some insight into a person's personality while providing something easier to remember than their real name. So far, all he knew about her was that she found the idea of him flirting with her utterly hilarious. 'That's it.' Lysander thought after coming up with what he thought to be an appropriate nickname. He would just have to sneak it into the conversation somewhere.

Just as Ryou bent over, he noticed Emi walking down the hall toward them. He groaned. This wasn't good. There was sure to be some jealousy between the two. 'But wouldn't that be an interesting thing to see?' Lysander smiled. If a cat fight was what had to happen, he wouldn't stop them, even with all the clothes-ripping and hair-pulling and biting... Lysander's smile widened. Of course, the notion was ridiculous, but he had some fun imagining it.

Well if the fact that those Goggles are hard to miss. And the fact that the teachers yelling your name every five minutes counts as an impression, than yes you made a rather strong one.” Ryou chuckled resuming her juggling act now that she knew the bullet was in good condition, undamaged and still well-polished looking. If this got damaged she would never let herself live it down, her Grandfather had given this to her in good faith and she had to take care of it, in fact it was probably the only thing that got her through the harder days in the Academy, knowing her Grandfather and Ancestors had survived reassured her that she would to. It was in her blood, sure it was a lot to live up to, but she could do it.
Now this Lysander kid, she had no idea what she was going to do with him. He was funny, she could give that to him, but such an obvious fail at flirting. Ah well, she could play along at the very least.
I don’t know Goggles, I guess you’ll have to figure that out for yourself.” Ryou dropped the sarcasm from her tone and smiled at him. It was then she noticed him glance over her should and footsteps reached her hearing. Sparing a glance over her shoulder she noticed the other girl, Emi? And made note of the fact that she seemed to staring at Lysander. A girlfriend then? Surely Goggles here couldn’t be that stupid, could he? Ah well, this was about to get very interesting.

Emi cringed when she saw the two look at her. She sure hoped that the girl wouldn't get the idea that she was Lysander's girlfriend. Ya, they were friends but they were not going out together. She met eyes with Lysander then stuck her tongue out at him. No way was she going to make a fool of herself by yelling at him. She walked over to the girl. "Hi, what's up you two?" she asked. She noticed that the girl did have a bullet, that she hadn't just seen wrong. Alright, this girl is totally going to give Lysander a hard time. Now I'm really a happy person. A smile worked its way onto her face.

"I'll make sure you never forget my name. What's a few more days in detention?" Lysander replied, smiling eerily. It wasn't a complete strike-out, that much was evident. After all, she could always have just smacked him and continued along her merry way. But what fun would that have been? "Am I allowed to be optimistic, my dear?" It was probably just a habit, but Lysander could interpret it any way he wanted. Being the gentleman he was, however, he wanted to ask her permission.

He stepped away from the wall, about ready to snatch that annoying bullet from the air, when he heard Emi's voice. "Hey, Emi." Lysander waved good-naturedly toward her. "I was just thinking about you." It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the whole truth either. He'd have to be a total nimrod if he was going to tell them about the entire scene that played out in his imagination. "What's up is this girl here is in desperate need of some entertainment."

If you feel you must be Goggles, then by all means don’t let me hold you back.” Mild sarcasm weaved it’s way through her flirting tone. It was everything Ryou could do not to start laughing then and there. Ah, maybe circling these class rooms for the past half hour hadn’t been such a bad idea after all. Grandfather had always told her that at the Academy strange things happened at even stranger places. He had told her of an underground club that used to make fun of the Drill Sergeant. Ryou had kept her ears open but she hadn’t heard anything of such. She chalked it all up to be just another of her Grandfather’s stories after all. All through her thoughts she heard the ever increasing footsteps coming closer until she heard the girl speak.
Ryou nodded her greeting to the new girl. Searching through her memory for the girl’s name, she recognized the face, granted she recognized most faces in the Academy. A face, once spotted, would stick, but for some reasons names slid away like hot butter. And then Lysander chose to help her out after all.
Hello Emi.” She said, pausing her juggling to wave cheerfully to the girl before going back to juggling. “As Goggles here says, things get rather boring when you’re busy avoiding homework.” She nodded, chuckling lightly. Was this girl Lysander’s girlfriend? And if so would he be foolish enough to continue his open flirting in front of her? Indeed this would play out to be interesting.

"You know Lysander, I should smash you face into a wall." Emi had half the mind to. But after all, he was probably the Academy's biggest flirt so he still had a reputation to keep up. She would let him keep his face. "But you know I'll leave your face alone. You might actually be able to get to me. " She was sure she would regret not hurting him later. She also knew he had a good chance of getting to her before either of them left the Academy.. "So you guys are bored too, huh? Maybe you should go out on a date with Lysander, um," Emi searched through her mind for the girls name. She was sure she had heard it before. "Right! It's Ryou. Sorry about the name thing. I don't always remember peoples names," Emi apologized. "Still, you should go out with this guy. I'm sure you can get to him easy." Emi had a smile on her face.

"I'll remember you said that, Giggles." Hey, she'd given him a nickname. Why shouldn't he do the same? So what if it was ridiculously similar to the one she gave him? It wasn't a rule in the Academy to be creative. He could see the headlines now. Goggles and Giggles, quite the pair of mischief makers in the Academy. Doing inappropriate things in even more inappropriate places. He smiled a bit to himself. It was yet another borderline stupid thought.

Lysander raised an eyebrow at Emi. Now there was a violent person. She was thinking about smashing his face into a wall... for what? Thinking about her? 'Well, Sooooorry. I didn't realize it was a crime.' For the way he abused his ability to imagine, it probably should have been. His eyes perked up at her next comment. "Is that so? Tell me, what steps should one take to accomplish such a thing?" What she said later baffled him. Just after saying he had a chance with her, she was suggesting he date someone else. Emi was probably into that threesome thing. 'Hey, I could get into that...'

When Emi used her name, Lysander made a mental note and stored the information for later use abuse. 'So that's what her name is. His reply to that was excessively enthusiastic. Ryou had given him permission, so why not take advantage of it? "Sweet idea, Emi. Now what did I do to make you so helpful?" He turned to Ryou. "So whaddya say, Giggles? You up for it?" He winked at them both.

Ryou snorted, looking Lysander up and down. “Emi, please tell me you’re joking.” She barely managed to get the words out around the laughter. She had to be kidding. For one she had barely spoken to Lysander for anything more than five minutes, not including all the time she ignored him in class, and, well, he was Lysander did she need a better reason? As far as Ryou was concerned unless that boy was a wolf she wasn’t interested. At least not for now. And even if she was interested it probably would not be in Lysander’s type. She had always migrated towards the quiet country boys anyway. She had never been fond of being trapped in City Walls and as such had developed a bit of a disdain for City-Folk. No, Ryou was meant to be out in the open, it was in her blood.
Maybe some other time Lysander.” She chuckled, patting him on the shoulder, Not likely my friend, not likely at all. But she couldn’t help but think it might be entertaining to lead him on for a little while anyway. Now was probably a good time to change the subject before Lysander made some further attempt to humiliate himself.
Giggle eh? I can live with that Goggles. But what shall we call Emi here?” She asked, nicknames were a slightly less harmless subject, but then again this was Lysander she was talking about, who knew where he would manage to take this.

"One, yes I was joking about dating Lysander. You always did seem to stay away from the noisy, adventurous guys. Personally, I do like guys like that though Lysander's got some ways to go to get me. Two, pleases tell me your joking about the nickname. I don't want Lysander to come up with a nickname for me." Emi was sure about what she was saying. She understood that Ryou was trying to change to a less dangerous subject but come on, this was Lyasnder. He could probably manage to make anything dangerous.
Silently she moved around to Ryou's other side. Emi got into a cat like position, ready to sprint away at the first sight of danger. This can not be good, she thought to herself. Who knows, maybe I'll actually be able to run this all off later. That depends on if I get angry, and if I do, how angry I am about this situation.
