Billy: Mr. Nergal, what's incest?

Me: Well, Billy, It's when someone wants to bang their brother or sister.

Billy: burning_eyes

Yes, ever since the Holy War of FE4 (That rymed! Ha!), there has been sisters and brothers having the hots for each other. While there is much Incest in FE4, it's legacy lives on. Here are some examples. (It's made by the same guy that made that video abot male lords)

INCEST

Does Erika prefer the Japanese version of her own game? (Apparently she can marry Epharim there.)

To be quite honest, I'm not a fan of incest. However, I cannot deny that there are incest in the Fire Emblem. In fact, there are some part of the cultures that are acceptable to incest such as the Tibetan polygamy.

Furthermore, we also know that emotions cannot be controlled, no matter how much we try. We can't control of who we fell in love with or not.

So even though there are incest in Fire Emblem, the translators from different countries tried to make sure that there are no incest between the siblings because they think it will make the gamers feel uncomfortable and disgusted. Though the translators may have accomplished it, they had somewhat failed to cover it due to the supports and the ending of the supports.

Yeah, FE4 is about the most incest-loaded incest-blob of insane incest ever.

Spoilers:
Celice: The main character of the first part, Sigurd, falls in love with a girl, Diadora, who is actually the half-sister of his friend Alvis. Alvis KILLS Sigurd and takes Diadora, bangs her, and they have twins. But not before Sigurd and Diadora do it and make Celice. Now, this makes Celice half-siblings with the twins, Julia and Julius. Julia can be PAIRED with Celice,if you do some crazy stuff. Julius is the final boss, the equivalent of the anti-Christ, spawned from the incest of half-siblings who contain uber-holy blood and uber-unholy blood.

Blagi blood: Also, Claude and Sylvia in the first generation are the holders of the Blagi blood, which allows use of the Valkyrie staff, which revives. It's highly hypothesized that the two are indeed siblings, since Sylvia was abandoned, and Claude remembers a sister, or something like that.

Lakche: Ayra, myrmidon of Generation 1, can fall in love with the axe knight Lex. This produces the children Lakche and Shakasha. Lakche is used to recruit one of two axe units: the axe knight Johan, or the Fighter Johalva. The other one, you kill. And the two are siblings. BUT! If you pair Ayra with Lex (I prefer Holyn, myself), then Lakche and the axe user are cousins. This does not stop them from being a pairing.

Oh, and then there's FE6/7. If Eliwood is paired with Fiora, and Hector with Florina or Farina, then Roy/Lilina is incest.

Let's not forget in FE4...

Spoilers:

Shannan and Lakche. Lakche has a borderline obsessive relationship with him... he's her cousin, if I recall. Some fans have said that they CAN become lovers. I've yet to test this.

You forgot to tell 'em that Julia/Celice is strongly implied and is pushed upon the player, Rei. XD They're one of the easiest pairings to make, really. The Japanese fandom also loves playing on Celice/Julius, as well as the almost obsessive relationship between Alvis and his half-brother Azel.

Let's not forget the strong feelings- and comparative nature- between Lachesis and her brother, Eltosian. She uses Eltosian as a yardstick, and says she'll never go with anyone unless they're better than her brother. She has almost a Priscilla complex going until... well, Eltosian gets offed. Literally, there's more art of Lachesis/Eltosian around the internet than most other FE4 pairings.

You got just about all of the most awkward ones, though. xD

And in FE6:

Clarine and Klein. Look at their supports. 'Nuff said.

Just for curiosity reasons, do we have anybody here as the Insestuous little sisters? (Lachreis, Clarine, Pricilla, Erika)

If my memory serves me correctly, we had Eirika, Priscilla, and Clarine. But I don't think they're active now. sweatdrop

To be fair, actions like this in medieval times, which is the time period FE is modeled around along with fantasy, were quite common in those days.

What Rath said, particularly with nobility and royalty. Don't ask me why, I dunno. I don't know why it happened, it just did.

Woah, woah.

Not all of 'em are royal pairings. :p

Along with that, Sue, it's mainly because of the 'purity of the bloodlines'. You can trace this back more than a thousand years ago, and you can see its effects most prominently in the rates of hemophilia in the Russian royalty.

Literally, in order to assure that the bloodlines weren't soiled with those of an outsider, lineages were carefully traced- god forbid of a plebeian's blood got into the mix. In order to assure that no financial assets would be given out willy-nilly to whoever their children (prince/princess/whatever the title happens to be) marry, the current ruler will opt to keep all of the resources within a rather restricted family line.

Hence, marriage to cousins was common. However, marriages between brother and sister were a lot rarer than what one would suspect. Mostly it would be between cousins, in order to prevent the gene pool from becoming too shallow, so to speak.

HOORAY RUSSIAN HEMOPHILIAAAA o/ *loves the Romanovs*

Yup. As already stated, incest is indeed an oldtime thing, and as Fire Emblem is medieval...

What about HughxRei or HughxLugh? I've seen the former and know that the latter is probably out there somewhere in the deep dark depths of the internet. ***** AND probably incest, as Hugh's technically their uncle or second cousin or something.

I'd say that brother/sister incest is far more common in FE than brother/brother, sister/sister, or cousin/cousin.

However, I'm sure Oscar/Boyd/Rolf does exist. *Shot, Killer Axed, Javelined and Silencer'd* D:

Ike and Mist seem to be the ONLY exception, and Geoffrey and Lucia also seem to be an exception. There's no real 'chemisty' between them.

Elincia and Lucia on the other hand... wait. Do adopted siblings count? D:

I may not like incest or the idea of incest whatsoever but like people have stated it was common in the medieval times to "preserve the bloodlines." It was also a part of Japanese culture at least for the royal family. I mostly see incest with Eirika and Ephraim, which its why i never get their supports, and Priscilla and Raven. In their supports Priscilla even reminds Raven of the time that he told her he was going to marry her.
