Hey, I finally got a copy of Bite, the book with several vamp short stories. I don't know why it took me so long to get confused
Anyway, was anyone else disturbed that the Anita story didn't seem to fit well where LKH said it fit. It was too full of sex and not enough story to fit between Blue Moon and Obsidian Butterfly. Did anyone else feel that way? I was glad to read a new story of course, but I was just a little disappointed.

I think it fit...It was where she was still trying to get away from the boys but hadn't yet. As for the sex and lack of plot...that's basically what Bite was about...ie Galahad.

I didn't feel like it fit in the story line there either. It was just a tad random. I'm not sure what I expected, but it was dissapointing.

Rubyhawk I didn't feel like it fit in the story line there either. It was just a tad random. I'm not sure what I expected, but it was dissapointing. Very, I just thought that for such a short story we would have been given more plot detail and things that the actual novel woul build on.

Kila-la Rubyhawk I didn't feel like it fit in the story line there either. It was just a tad random. I'm not sure what I expected, but it was dissapointing. Very, I just thought that for such a short story we would have been given more plot detail and things that the actual novel woul build on. I was under the impression that she wrote the short story after having written several books after the fact. If that is the case, wouldn't it make sense that she did her best not to interfere with the plotlines already set up? That way there would be less room for error (and fewer reasons for her readers to send a plague of e-mails about how a certain detail she had forgotten conflicted with something in the short story). At any rate, I kind of just took it as brief eye candy.

I thought that her story in BITE was just a bit of a sidestory so I really didn't pay much attention as to whether it really fit with the story or not. Plus the book was just mainly about eyecandy (or is it mindcandy) so I didn't mind the sex much. XD

Lady Dracoterreus I think it fit...It was where she was still trying to get away from the boys but hadn't yet. As for the sex and lack of plot...that's basically what Bite was about...ie Galahad. Is it sad that I remembered Galahad before I remembered the Anita story? From what I remember *it's been a while* the whole book was pretty big on lust and such. Not a favorite but tolerable. Did Laurell write that little story during the time between BM and OB or did she later do it and just place it there? If the latter is true I can see why you feel disappointed. New Anita has a way of doing that. I'm always glad to get it but at the same time scared of what I'll be given to complain about. Personally I just thought it was a cute little Anita/Jean Claude moment. I made an effort not to even associate it with any other plot lines. Saved me from some disappointment.

I wish I had looked at it that way. But because I thought it would be like old Anita, I was disappointed.

The only thing that made me happy about Bite was that I read the Anita short while inside Borders, and I didn't actually spend money on it.

I guess it gave me my little Anita/Jean-Claude fix...Though I liked Galahad.
