It was late in the evening and Zuberi was taking a stroll outside the pack lands. It was a nice night out and Zuberi was enjoying feeling the cool breeze run through is chocolate colored coat. As Zuberi walked around he though over his day (or should he say evening had started back at the pack). He had woken up slightly later then he usually did and most of his brothers and sisters were already awake and playing. It wasn't like Zuberi to sleep late, he enjoyed being awake... after all it was the best time to be learning.
When Zuberi woke up today he felt like he was missing out on something, because the pack was a nocturnal one, Zuberi was rarely if ever awake during the day, this never really did bother him until recently when he wondered if he was missing out on stuff that happened only during the day time. He knew it was for the packs benefit that they slept during the day, and only came out during the night when it was cool enough none the less he wondered about the mysteries the day held.
As he walked around lost in his own thoughts Zuberi hadn't realized how close he had gotten to another wild dog. She wasn't far from him now, and she was probably aware of his presence, truth be told Zuberi was kind of shocked with himself that he hadn't noticed her there sooner, he tended to pride him self in being so observant. He slowed his place trying to get a better look at her. She was older then him he could tell that but not much else. He paused for a moment trying to decide how and if he should approach her, sometimes older dogs didn't want to be bothered by young ones like him, and although he thought himself to be very mature.... they didn't always seem to agree.

Kianga had kept herself very busy all day in the rogue lands, She had no friends to speak of and rarely ever came across other rogues like herself, But that never really kept her down. She had spent most of her day lazing under a shady tree, watching the clouds drift by above. She wondered if she would ever come across a friend to travel with or pack to join, the thought of permanence and commitment frightened her sometimes. Enjoying every day being different was what her life was all about, her stubborn puppy side hated being told what to do and hence she did not have a pack to call her own.
The sky was clear and dark with millions stars like little pin pricks above her, now that the hot sun was gone she could hunt. She stood up and stretched with a big yawn, she made her way forward through the tall grass. Keeping her head low and her shoulder hunched she sniffed lightly at the ground smelling for some kind of foreign scent, she wasn't a very good hunter and had yet to master the difference between a wild dog's scent and a jack rabbit.
No more than 10 minutes past by, when her nose was now brown with dirt, did she finally look up. Ah ha! What luck! she thought, spotting something moving not more than a few feet from her she quickly sprang forward and tackled the pup.
"Oh.." she said in mild surprise when she looked down, about to sink her teeth in the poor little thing. "Sorry about that I thought -" she paused long enough to decide that she wasn't going to tell this adolescent that she couldn't tell the difference between him and a jack rabbit, or any other furry creature for that matter. "Nevermind..I'm Kianga" she wagged her tail happy to finally meet someone after a few days of solitude.

Zuberi was startled by the older female for who a brief moment in time was bearing down over him like she was ready to attack. "I am er Zuberi or Strongear... depends on who you ask." The female was different then the ones he had seen around the pack, he wasn't sure how she was different she just was.
"What are you doing out here alone?" Zuberi asked her, he wasn't use to seeing many dogs outside of the pack, just the odd pup doing exploring. He had a feeling she had been hunting and that was the explanation for her almost attack. "What are you hunting?" Zuberi asked, he wasn't a very good hunter as he dogs in the pack who did that for him, he had only really caught small things like bugs. But none the less he thought he would try to help this older dog, is she wanted the help.

"Sorry" she laughed and backed off the young dog, wagging her tail exuberantly. "I don't actually have a pack or any friends really..so I always travel alone," this probably would have made any normal creature upset, but nothing really got Kianga down. She circled Zuberi, to inspect her further, unaware that this would probably seem odd to him; Finally she sat down in front of him and smiled widely. She was glad for some company as it had been many days since she had met another Wild Dog.
"Where is your mother?" she could smell at least another dog on him and knew he couldn't be alone, not to mention he looked a healthy weight..someone was taking care of him. Maybe he has food nearby, she thought.
Her stomach groaned in protest at the mention of food, she couldn't remember the last time she had a proper meal. 2...3 days maybe, she frowned trying to remember exactly when..her stomach rumbled again. "I was looking for a jackrabbit, it's hard to take down anything bigger by myself."
A cool breeze washed over them, Kianga could smell a hint of some kind of animal in it. "Come on" she playfully nipped at the pup's ear "lets get it!" She took against the wind, her nose in the air smelling for the scent that was teasing and tantalizing her senses.

Zuberi stared after Kianga as she took of running, he then started to run after her afraid that he might lose her if she got to far away. He could smell the animal she could smell, he wasn't sure what it was. As he rushed after her he wondered if he would actually be any help, when they caught up to this mysterious animal. He had never hunted before... there were people in the pack who were responsible for doing this sort of thing.
He made it to Kianga's flanks panting slightly, "Do you know how far away it is?" Zuberi hated to admit that he had no idea what he was doing but he was curious. He decided to wait to answer Kianga's question till after they had caught her dinner.

Kianga stopped dead, to sniff the cool crisp air. A frown spread across her face, she couldn't smell anything anymore..she was never a very good tracker, it accounted for her startling thin figure and angry stomach.
"I don't know" she looked around desperately..her eyes were much better than her nose anyway. "This way I think.." she started off toward a tree, creeping toward it slowly. All of the sudden she leaped into the air, like she'd seen a leopard do once and began chase after a small hare.
The hare zigzagged through the tall grass as fast as it could but Kianga's small stature made her fast as well..she nipped at the rabbits feet as she got closer.
"Sorry.." she whispered, barely audible as she sunk her teeth into one of it's back legs. She lost her balance with the hare still in mouth and hit the dirt.

"You don't need to apologize," Zuberi said lightly, "everyone needs to eat." Zuberi settled down next to Kianga while she had her dinner. Deciding now was the best time of any to answer the question she asked.
"My mom, she is back at the pack, well actually she might be out hunting for the pack... I live in a pack with lots of dogs. My mom is one of the hunters for the pack, she helps provide food for everyone. So I have never really needed to hunt for myself.... but you did a good job, I wouldn't have been able to catch the hare." Zuberi was somewhat embarrassed admitting that he had no knowledge and if it had come to it he would not have been able to help Kianga.
Zuberi was very interested by Kianga, he was interested in most others. Particularly if they weren't a member of a pack, or more specifically his pack, he wanted to learn more about the outside world. "So why don't you belong to a pack? Doesn't it get lonely traveling on your own?" He hoped that all his question asking wouldn't disrupt her meal, he couldn't help himself when he met someone new, he needed to know more.
