To say Adam was excited would be a gross understatement of his feelings. He was practically vibrating with the sheer joy of what they were about to do. It was bad enough that he was so completely in love with Moby, but having children with him? That was the icing on the cake. The weather seemed to agree with him as the sun smiled joyfully down on the couple as they walked into the clinic.

“This is going to be perfect!” Adam whispered as he tightened his hold on Moby’s hand and dragged him through the doors. He placed a kiss on Moby’s cheek once they were in the waiting room. They were the only ones there at the moment so Adam started to head towards the desk.

It was not going to be perfect and Moby knew it from the moment he brought up the clinic to his zealous partner. He was supposed to keep his stress levels below 'pit in stomach' status less he were to aggravate a certain time placement genetic disorder. Quite plainly Moby was jittering as an expectant mother would, not completely out of place but a hopeful father shouldn't be filled completely with dread the second he walks into the doctor's office.

They've had time, Moby reminded himself, to think this over, discuss the possibilities and probabilities. The vote was unanimous, or at least it had been last night over take out Thai and wine for Adam, water for Moby please no alcohol. He dragged his free hand over his bald scalp, relieving stress built up on his furrowed brow. A peck on the cheek conveyed all that it should and he relaxed, minutely nodding and followed Adam with a renewed energy. The pit loosened and he felt the white haze on his vision lessen into the background.

"You think so?" He questioned before looking over the desk, short stature leaving cause to raise up on his toes. "Erm, yes. Hullo. Winchcomb and McCormick?"

Selma glanced up at the couple over her gossip magazine and couldn't stop her brain from actually recognizing the appointment. They didn't exactly get a lot of same sex couples on a daily basis. "The doctor will be with you shortly," she replied, slightly fuming that they'd actually caused her to work, even if it was unintentional. "Take a seat." She waved her hand toward the many empty seats of the waiting room. It was a slow day. She then pressed a button that buzzed slightly and returned to her reading.

"Of course!" Adam placed another kiss on Moby's cheek and squeezed his hand once again. "Why would I say it if I didn't think it, silly!" He knocked his shoulder against Moby. This was going to be a wonderful day. The mixture of nervous energy and pure unadulterated joy, made it almost impossible for him to stay still or to tone down his affection for his partner. His whole body was humming with it.

"Thank-you!" Adam said to the nurse giving her one of his trademark toothy smiles.

"Come on, let's go see if they have some parent magazines, those are fun to read! Right, Moby?" He cuddled closer to Moby as he led them to the indicated chairs. Adam wasn't normally one for waiting room chairs, but given the circumstances, he couldn't bring himself to complain about them as he would usually.

"Love you!"

Moby merely ducked his head and shuffled over to the row of chairs, shoulder lightly brushing against Adam in a comforting manner. He took a seat with a coy grin, plucking his messenger bag from his side and proceeded to pull out a few what appeared to be lab reports. "You," he started before reaching behind Adam's curly mane to pull out a purple pen from behind his ear. "May read those gooey articles all you please. I will make sure that my undergrads show an inkling of comprehension for..." Again he paused and glanced down at the title of the top report. " 'Fundamentals of recombinant DNA technology through the isolation and characterization of a unique gene'....Good. Too bad I have to mark them off for not being specific enough." He mumbled and continued to write a few notes on the side. Anything to get his mind off of what they were about to do.

Moby smiled and leaned into the contact as he graded lazily in the waiting room, occasionally reaching up to scratch at his bald scalp or rub a thumb over Adam's hand.

"Love you!" He heard Adam chirp and he grinned, nibbling the end of his pen.

"As it would seem. Why else would you subconsciously allow your ears to be an extension of my bag?"

It didn't take too long for Ronchas to emerge from the back, rubbing his hands together with hand sanitizer. Couldn't be passing along germs to the future parents, after all.

"Hello, hello, hello," he greeted the couple seated in the waiting room with much excitement, holding out his now sanitized hand as a greeting.

There was nothing more relaxing than simply cuddling up to Moby while he graded. He always seemed so sincere about it. He was so smart too! Adam was in a constant state of heart eyes whenever he was around his soul mate. “Oh, be nice! Don’t grade those kids too hard! And you know that I’d do anything for you, babe!” He made a kissy face at Moby before reaching over him to grab a magazine off the table.

He had been about to read the article on the affects of nannies on the development of child/parent relationships when the doctor walked in. Adam immediately jumped up to greet the man. I wasn’t everyday you had a chance to meet the person who would allow you to have children with the love of your life.

“Hey, Adam Winchcomb,” Adam smiled as he introduced himself and reached out to shake Dr. Ronchas’ hand, “I just want to say thank-you for meeting with us, it really is an honor!” His enthusiastic handshake eventually died off and he was left simply vibrating with excitement.

"An honor, oh my an honor?" Ronchas laughed, trying to sound humble, but he failed, chest puffing out automatically. "Well, if the two of you would come to my office," he suggested, directing them to the door behind him.

Adam continued to beam at the doctor before him. Pride was one of his own sins, so he could relate to the apparent ego boost he had given the doctor. He quickly tucked an unruly curl back behind the ear which was previously host to Moby's grading pen, before turning to whisper into Moby's ear. "You ready, babe?" He gave him a quick nuzzle before lacing Moby's hand with his own.

He then faced the doctor once more to say, "Of course, let's get this party started!" and all but dragged Moby through the indicated door.

Moby had just barely finished scrawling out a comment before he was dragged to the hospital room, comforting words still reaching his ear and he gave a half grin before adjusting his glasses. There was a small tingling sensation in his toes that preempted spontaneous time travel, probably something to do with the tense situation he was finding himself in. Subconsciously he gripped Adam's hand tighter, not wanting to drift off in the least bit into some unknown time.

He looked up at the sanitary lighting, harsh and bleak and it somehow calmed him. He let out a small sigh and relaxed against Adam's shoulder with an almost giddy grin.

"I'm sorry I was occupied. My name is Melville McCormick." He said quietly, reaching out his free hand, to shake the doctor's hand. "Please. Call me Moby. And that's a total agreement on my side. Thank you. Very much for this."

Ronchas shook the offered hand. "Good to meet you, Moby," he assured him through a large grin. "Good to meet you both."

Ronchas was not a man to let formalities take too long, so immediately he launched into business. "It's a very simple process, very simple," he wanted to make them comfortable with it. Actually, their part was simple, his part, and his serum however, were far from. How else do you expect to create a baby when both of the starting cells were sperm?

"All we have to do is take a good sperm cell from one of of you--It must be healthy and strong, which is why we need a good sample.--and we remove all the genetic information and place it in an egg, from which we have removed all genetic information." He almost paused as though finished but then added as an afterthought: "We can either incubate the child here, or I can implant the fertilized egg inside one of you. The birth would of course have to take place here, since it would require special care."

Despite it obviously being a simplified version, a lot of the science Dr. Ronchas just said went above Adam's head. He was by no means a scientist or a doctor or anything that required more than the required years of science and math from high school. He had a Moby for all of that! So he nodded along, made a couple of a appropriate noises and kept his grip on Moby's hand just as strong as Moby was. He was also trying to send a telepathic message to him that he was in over his head, but Adam's not a telepath no matter how hard he tries. He just gets headaches when he tries from concentrating so hard.

"Um, well, I think it sounds all fine a dandy, but Moby, what do you think with that oh so spectacular intellect of yours?" He turned his attention to Moby and gave him his best, 'I have no idea what he just said, please make a decision for me 'cause I'm a little confused' look. It can be hard to communicate all that in just a look, but Adam though he was doing a good job.

His attention to a quick turn to Dr. Ronchas. One thing he had caught was the idea of either he or Moby carrying the baby, and they had talked about that. "Would it be dangerous for the person carrying the baby?"

"Well, if I said no," Dr. Ronchas wagged a finger as he spoke. "I'd be a liar. However, I'd say there's no more risk than any normal pregnancy for a woman. And the labor process is less of a risk than for a woman giving a natural birth."

"Good, good...it's just," Adam took a minute to try and wrap his tongue around the words he was trying to say. It's hard, the whole talking thing and getting people to understand what you mean, and this situation was especially hard to vocalize, "I realize that, well, the obvious lack of well, a to be blunt, a v****a, or even a womb, might pose some, I don't know, risk, that wouldn't be present in a female body." An obvious flush graced Adam's cheeks and he fidgeted in his discomfort about talking about the female form. They're icky!

"I understand your concerns," he replied, nodding. "Understand your concerns. Of course, you'll have to give birth via 'sea section'." At the last two words, he held up his hands and made a quoting motion with his fingers. The process wasn't conventional, of course. "It's just like surgery. Just like surgery."

Ronchas opened a drawer and rummaged a bit through his desk. "You don't have to decide today of course, but it couldn't hurt to have the..." Ronchas cleared his throat. "samples of DNA." He set two cups down on the table. "That way the next time you visit, we can have everything ready for your insemination."
