The copper lioness surveyed the tree with searching crimson eyes as her cream colored toes wrapped carefully around the trunk, and her powerful claws sank into the bark. Slowly, she shifted her weight forward onto her front paws, testing her grip. Good. She stood leaning against the trunk for a moment, and then brought one hind paw up. Claws buried deep into the bark, and she brought the other paw off the ground in onto the tree. Reaching forward, she found a grip with a forepaw, and pushed with her powerful hind legs, boosting herself upwards. And again. Again. The progress was not particularly fast, but each step was carefully calculated, designed so she would not get herself stuck halfway up the tree. Besides, what had come so easily to her as a cub - light of weight and lacking of the good sense to really fear - did not flow so smoothly in her mind as an adult. Where she had once scrambled up trees in delight, experience now told her that she shouldn't climb just any tree, but ones that branched out lower to the ground. It wasn't any good getting stuck high up in the air, either.

At last, she reached the spot where the tree's branches flowed outward, and she settled herself into place with a self-satisfied smile. And to think, most lions found this difficult! She chuckled to herself with a small shake of the head. Maybe she was just exceptionally talented. Who knew.

She turned her focus back out to the pridelands. Now that she was comfortably settled, she didn't have to worry much about falling off. From where she was, she had a good view of the vast expanse of land that stretched as far as the eye could see. In the distance, she could see the herd grazing, and here and there, lions lingered. Mzuza nodded to herself. Well, good, she enjoyed being in the know. It gave her a sense of control and stability.

She shifted her crimson eyes downward to the ground. A rock, a rock...

Mbari had been walking for some time, Kamba, his little feathered friend, had flown off to give him a little quiet time. It was needed nowadays. Since the return of his father, things had definately been alot better, life had been more stable. He had to admit however, that seeing love fire up again between his parents, and such affection blazing before his view often, he felt a little lonely. He had never enjoyed the company of a female. He had been far too preoccupied in the safety and wellbeing of his mother, father, brother and sisters. Some may say that was a good thing, but in hindsight, he realised he was missing out on alot that life had to offer.

He walked along, yellow-amber eyes intent on focusing on the clear sky, although it dazed him a little. He continued to walk until a web of branches and foliage spoilt his view. He had to look twice. A lioness? In the branches? He was certainly impressed. And to think, he wondered how he would appear to others! He admired her guts. Looking up to the tree, he smiled in a friendly fashion, although realised she may not have even spotted him. "N-nice place to watch the world go by,e-eh?" Although he was getting better, his stutter was stubborn, and had followed him since cubhood. He continued to look up into the tree.

She probably should have noticed him approaching earlier, she realized as the unfamiliar voice split her attention. She had been so determined to find a proper rock that the rest of the world had simply... faded away, and even if that wasn't really an excuse, it made her feel slightly better.

She returned his smile, and nodded eagerly. "Why, it certainly is," she agreed readily. He was completely right, of course. When you lived in a home that was more or less flat grassland as far as the eye could see, there was nothing better than an elevated spot to survey the world. The land gave of a sense of such majesty and unending vastness that it was difficult not to be in awe every time she saw it from up high. Especially in the early mornings, when the crimson rays of the sun peeked over the horizon and bathed the world in red.

Realizing it would be rude of her to continue a conversation so far away in a tree, she carefully rose to her paws. Ah, the hard part. She reached out with a forepaw, and slowly stretched forward. Then she paused. "Oh, forget it," she muttered. She had deliberately picked a low tree for the purposes of making quick getaways. She unlatched her claws from the bark and pushed off from where she stood, tumbling to the ground not too far from where the golden lion stood.

"Oof..."
