Honchoushiro
White Imperial Court
Just as the title implies, the Honchoushiro is the "Central" Court, the Imperial Court where the Sotaicho makes both their private residence as well as the "gathering" grounds for all squads.
The Court itself is set upon a small mountain, visible for miles upon miles in Soul Society it it where all Judicial Matters are settled in finality in short it is the "High" Court. It is where all reports are made and all orders are finalized. Admission to this "Imperial Court" must first be authorized by the Captain of the sole Division to call it "home" the So-taicho him or herself. After applying, and being accepted into the Court, a seat is given, not requested. As the acting Captain and Commander the so-taicho must be closely guarded against the attacks of his or her foes and as a result entering into this squad is a high-priority responsibility. Once accepted, a Shinigami is a member for life, treason in this Division is punishable by death without trial in most cases. Needless to say the responsibilities and obligations that come with being in this Division are extensive and harsh. The benefits though act as a perfect opposite to these mandates.
In addition to being so close to the So-taicho, members of this Division are personally trained by their Captain. As the Imperial force, their fighting ability needs to be both constrained, for dealing with either ignorant or otherwise powerless opponents, Division One's chief responsibility is to look after, organize and maintain balance in war and in peace. First Division's members rarely see combat, being of a "defensive" nature they perfectly acclimate to their Captain/Commander's state of mind, in an offensive posture they're a deadly well-coordinated fighting force, when otherwise they are messengers, carriers and informants, they can act perfectly in accordance with other squads given their high rate of adaptability, their intelligence allows them to work with Research Squads and understand. Their analytical knowledge as well as general knowledge allows them to work with Investigation teams as well as Judicial Court squads without hindering their work.
Admissions to Division one are known to be rare as seated Shinigami must have spent at least Ten years in the Thirteen Court Protection Squads to be considered for admission.
