Considered to be the "darker" side of Shinigami developments both in and out of combat, Twelfth Division members are kept in line by an intrigue in their work as well as a sense of fear. Twelfth Squad is placed in charge of hollow, namely to experiment upon, Twelfth Division's primary responsibility is to extract as much data about hollow without actually killing them. Much of Twelfth Division's work is conducted in secret from the general public. Within the dark confines of Division Twelve's headquarters the greatest minds of Soul Society are put to work on the most daunting of tasks, the ending to a war held for as long as Hollow and those with the ability to combat them have existed. While most squads have charge of fighting this war, Twelfth Division's purpose is to end it, acting not only as strategists, these Court members have access to classified files and may use them liberally so long as a valid purpose in ending and preventing war between Shinigami and Hollow can be communicated, namely an eradication of Hollows and the various means of how to do so are considered to be Division Twelve's task.
