Genshiren The Virgin Forest
Beyond the clustered and dusty streets of Rukongai lies the "Virgin Forest" named for it's un-rivaled beauty, the Forest is a mixture of flatland forest and grassy mounds, set higher up in elevation than the low districts of Rukongai, the view from the forest is phenomenal overlaying the land of Rukongai and the Seireitei beyond. With wide, extensive portions of land, they provide excellent walking and training grounds. Each of the Thirteen Court Protection Squads has an outpost located on the border of the forest around Rukongai at which a troupe of Shinigami is stationed from that respective division as an advance lookout and "vacation" spot while still on-duty.

Seru walked through the forest. It was another one of the few places he could be alone... for the most part. Sitting back he leaned his head against the large, old tree, looking up in the hole between the canopy. The sun wasn't directly beaming through, but it was a magnificent site. The clouds were above, the sun behind, yet, forcing itself from behind. The clouds lined in the gold ambiance, and birds flying beneath the clouds.
He took a deep breath, unsheathing his zanpakuto and stabbed it into the ground before him. He folded his legs and leaned his head in. He began to meditate. He wished to surpass the captains of the thirteen protection squads. It would be tough, and near impossible. But, to start, he'd have to work with the foundations. Simple inner peace and balance. Or, that was Seru's view.

After some time of meditation, Seru got up, sheathing his zanpakuto and walked off.

Rednal came to a stop in the far depths of the forests on the outer part of Soul Society, then cracked his neck. This was a long, long ways from other Shinigami; far enough, in fact, that even the outposts wouldn't be able to sense his power being used, much less anybody in the Seireitei. And nobody could get close without him feeling them coming a long ways off. He really needed to exercise a little, and that was what this was for. With one hand, he drew his sword. "Blaze, Lävatein." he said. His weapon flashed and extended, the blade becoming notably longer and wider, as well as slightly more European than any Katana, at the same time the hilt lengthened to provide the additional gripping room necessary for the weapon's style. With that, Rednal began a series of wide slashes with the weapon. Lävatein was not a fancy weapon for elaborate swordplay; it was meant to crush the opponent with power, and that was something Rednal had. He really did need to keep in shape, what with recent events, and swordsmanship practice was a good start. After that, perhaps his personal fighting style, Kamiken... and from there, who knew?

After working through his routine, Rednal calmly sheathed his blade and let his spiritual power fade back to its usual level of just-barely-there. These occasional releases helped him keep it under control the rest of the time, like small eruptions that prevented a volcano from blowing. You couldn't lock power up forever, after all, or bad things would start to happen to you. He'd learned that the hard way, too. Quietly, he checked hismessages, and noted the increases in power in the chambers of Central 46. "Hm hmm." he said, smiling slightly. "Well, they can take care of it all by themselves." nodding, he began making his way back to the Seireitei.

((Note: These events occur well past even the guard stations, on the very outside areas of Soul Society. Accordingly, they are too far away to be felt by anyone, nor would any sensors be trained on such an area.))
Rednal stopped walking very deep indeed in the forests, past where there was even the slightest chance of being detected, and so far out that anybody who even tried to get close could be felt long before they arrived. Rednal liked that about this area, and it was one of the only places he could go to honestly relax. With that, he settled down to wait and see if the other Shinigami would show up or not. Soul Society needed a hero to protect it... and Rednal intended to create that hero.

Shadow came striding up, curious. The sense that he knew this man somehow, beyond what he appeared to be, would not go away. And so, he had followed, wondering. Stopping before Gilgamesh, he raised an eyebrow. "So?"

Rednal pulled out a ski mask and put it on. "I am a mysterious ninja. Believe it." he said, making clearly fake gestures with his hands. He vanished, however, and reappeared behind Shadow. "Okay, seriously now, you saw how badly Soul Society failed when Ganga-chan attacked. That's the really big Hollow's name, by the way. The problem with this place as it is now is that few people actually know how to fight anymore, and of those that do know, most of them are waaaay too lazy to do anything properly. I don't like interfering, really, but you guys suck and need a little boost. So, how'd you like to be a hero and learn some stuff from the best?" this was probably quite funny, when you thought about it, since Rednal's level of energy still felt like it was barely there, and here he was talking almost as if he were some sort of living legend.

"It is obvious to me that you are not what you appear to be, Gilgamesh." He almost spouted another name, but as soon as he went to do so, it slipped from his mind. He thought for a moment, though, before answering. He listened to Moonfire on this one. "I'll do it. For the good of the Soul Society, I will help."

"Help? Bah. All you're qualified to help is a little old lady across the road. You suck. You're as frightening as a baby holding a plastic dagger, and that's insulting the baby. As for what I appear to be, appearances are all illusion anyway. So's life, come to think of it. But some illusions are stronger than others." he considered for a few moments, then vanished again, reappearing where he had started, without the ski mask. "Okay. So why don't you try and attack me, hmm? Do it with killing intent, or you'll never even get close. I'll be fine. Seriously, don't hold back." Rednal had a somewhat brutal teaching method. The goal was to drive the trainee to their limit and then shove them past it and keep going, long after the point where they would imagine they couldn't lift their arm. Once they reached into more power and began using it, it tended to come easier to them.

Shadow, nodding stepped away. He had never used this technique, and had in fact only just remembered it. He knew how it worked, and how to use it to it's fullest. Well, sorta. That part was still hazy. At any rate, he stopped a hundred feet off, and turned. Drawing Lanfaer, Shadow closed his strange eyes. He then opened his eyes, which now glowed with a powerful blue light. All of the eye, whites and pupil, turned sapphire blue. "Awaken, and Howl With The Fury of the Heavens! Lanfaer!" His spiritual pressure shot up, way up, and his zonpakto changed. THe blade turned serpentine, the hilt forming into the head of a beast, it's mouth gaping in a silent roar, it's eyes gleaming white. The blade turned black, as the entire sword to gold and black variations of colors. Raising the blade straight into the air, reishi from the world around them began to form upon the blade, and Rednal would feel a ever so slight drain on his riatsu as it was drawn to Shadow's blade. The Zanpokto's blade suddenly rippled, and azure flames burst into life about the black metal, whipping around it to form a hurricane like appearance.
The blade has drawn on Reishi around it, as well as the Riatsu nearby, to form an attack. For best effect, you would use it as another attack hit you, to redirect it back at the enemy. This would take the power of that attack, triple it, and throw it back. As it was, Shadow, in his weakened state, was having a lot of trouble controlling it.

It would mess him up so bad if I showed him what power really is... Rednal thought mildly. His own power level didn't seem to be changing despite the drain; obviously, he had reserves somewhere, despite how weak he felt. He considered for a moment, then used Shunpo to shoot past Shadow. As he did so, his hand brushed against the flames. Ordinarily, this would have been a relatively stupid thing to do, even for a guy who's own Zanpakuto was fire-element. However, he wasn't simply touching them, but using a technique of his own to simply dissipate the attack. "It's called Hanki; the art of equaling an attack and neutralizing it with your own power." he said as he reappeared behind Shadow. When it came to the techniques of a Shinigami, there wasn't much of anything Rednal hadn't learned at one point or another. Though still not very serious himself, it was clear that the kid was having trouble controlling his power, and there was definitely no way for him to have dealt with even a casual cancellation of his attack. "Now, let's try again. Actually attack me this time." he ordered.

Shadow was good at hiding his emotions. He was known far and wide at the 'Emotionless Warrior of 5th Devision", and could face down an arrancar without even a twitch. That all meant nothing, though, as Shadow's jaw almost hit the floor. Lanfaer howled with fury in Shadow's mind, swearing at the man before him. Shadow's eyes blazed as he dropped into a fighting stance. He would make Gilagmesh pay for that. No, not Gilgamesh. "Rednal!" He shunpo'd, appearing behind Rednal with his blade swinging with the man's head.

"Whoop." Rednal said, Shunpo'ing to the side and watching as the blade passed through where he had been. "You know that joke was old when it started, right? I'm just a wandering ninja..." he made the fake handsign again. "Still, better to have you swinging your sword than just igniting it. Next lesson: Learn how to keep your cool. If you get angry, then your movements become more erratic, and you'll have a harder time hitting your opponent. Plus, you're more likely to waste power on attacks that won't work. Learn how to keep your cool and analyze the situation. There's a time and a place for the emotional charge. This isn't it. Umm... ah, that one sounds good. Intaken." he pointed at Shadow. Hadou #60, Intaken, was a simple spell that let off a flash of light to momentarily stun the enemy. This was done without an incantation, so it was rather weaker than it might have been, but weakness was only relative. The spell was still Captain-level, and Rednal thought that using light against Shadow was rather funny. Humor drove much of what he did.
