So, I'm sure we've all heard about "the jew card". Has anyone ever accused any of y'all of pulling it? Have you actually pulled it? >_> Opinions on whether or not it's acceptable, or whether the very name "the jew card" is acceptable, etc etc etc.

My friends make fun of me for being 'Jewish' though I haven't officially converted and it's all in good fun. Mostly it's about being cheap and having to keep Kosher.
I don't say I can't do things because I'm 'Jewish' unless it's against the Laws. I don't use my cultural/religious/racial background as an excuse for anything.

It bothers me. When someone says 'Oh, I can't do work on Sunday' and the turns around and does something else. If you're gonna do that, stick to what you're gonna do.

I for some reason have a HUGE problem with flashing the Jew Card all over the place when I have never really needed to use it once.

In 2009, I have pulled the Jew Card once. A girl in my school mistook the fact I try to wear fashionable clothes and act confident as arrogance. She therefore thought she'd be doing everyone a favour if she made a point of my "vanity". She doesn't like me that much anyway (she thinks I just act Bipolar and Obsessive Compulsive to get attention), so this was an excuse, I suppose. Nevertheless, I pulled the Jew Card because I was bored and it could end the arguement quickly.
So she approached me and this is a snippet from the conversation: "Hey Joel, how come you think you're so awesome?" "I don't. Far from it, " "Then why do you treat us all like scum?" "I don't..." "No one likes you because you think you're so superior." "Superior? Superior? Do you realise what you just said? You just said a Jew thinks he's SUPERIOR." "I... I never-" "You accuse me of the very thing that slaughtered so many of us?" "What? No!" "Don't you learn anything in History??" "No! I didn't mean it like that, I swear!" "You disgust me."
I walk away, cursing in Yiddish for extra effect. This wasn't verbatum, but 90% accurate. It was a while ago, now. Anyway, she's stopped saying stupid things to me. It was a bit extreme, I admit, but effective.

I did something that could be called "the Jew Card". For my high school aplication essay it said to write about a summer thing but I wrote about my spring trip to Israel. But other than that I think its just best to jokes.

I don't think it counts as pulling the Jew card, but I'll tell people I can't eat certain things because they're not kosher (I'm a rather picky eater, and kosher actually fits most of my preferences (except I looooooooooooove shellfish)).
Some of my friends took to talking s**t behind my back because I identify as a Jew (when referring to myself, it's usually as "the Jew" or "Jew") and they claim that my calling myself a/the Jew counts as puling the card.

In Israel (where I live) we don't get too much to use the jew card since most of the people around us are jewish as well. But I did used it few times when I was chating with people on the internet and they made holocoust jokes.

I have a rasta mate who made a holocaust joke... so I made a slavery joke as revenge and now we're even again.

I don't think I really use the Jew card, unless I'm trying to be obnoxiously secular. I have (admittedly) less patience than I would like with my more Orthodox friends' practices and their general refusal to see what they do as sexist and/or completely not in touch with reality (though I suppose they could say pretty similar things about me.) I've definitely made fun of an Orthodox guy friend for not being able to touch me, and I've also been called "dirty" for having an Aliyah (though not by any of my Orthodox friends, who do tend to take things more in stride.)
I dunno, Israel's kindof an offensive country in that sense. My bluntness is generally in good humor, and so is the response. Does that count? I don't really know.
