Eeva Subiani, future leader of Shadow Clan, was moving swiftly across the meadow, ignoring the looks the herd were giving her as she passed by. She knew they were nervous about her, wondering if the sight of a juvenile lioness meant that the mother might be around. But they weren't scared of her, herself. Not yet. But in time they would and for now that satisfied Eeva enough.
She wasn't a huntress yet, but she would be, especially with her mother's help. Until then she'd have to make do with those nervous shiftings in their legs, the twitches in their necks. She thought, too, of their babies, easy prey, young lives quicker and easier to snuff out. She remembered her first hunting lesson...
...She quickened her step.
Once back in amongst the rocks, grasses and ferns, Eeva began to wind around them, moving up the incline in the ground to get a better view of the landscape. She wasn't exactly sure what she was going to do today, only that she wanted to have a good long walk. A good think, too, about the responsibilities that lay ahead for her.
She groaned and her ears fell flat against her neck. Life was hard, sometimes.

He had gotten... mildly lost.
But he wasn't admitting to that much. In fact, Wingu Waya was doing a relatively good job at looking like he knew perfectly well where he was doing. At least... he was, till he somehow managed to trip over a small rock, stumbling a few paces before catching himself, "You stupid thing!" he yelled at the offending boulder, his fangs bared, as if the inanimate object could somehow respond to him.
Seeing as he was getting no answer, the cloud marked male grumbled under his breath and moved himself forward again, "Stupid rock, and stupid tree... stupid sky. Stupid everything," he wished his sense of direction weren't as horribly... stunned as it was, really. He'd seen his mother find her way across the Ela lands with huge ease, and yet here he was; possibly a few good minutes away from the main wolf clan and he couldn't find his bloody way back.
After a few more minutes of idle walking, which was getting him nowhere, the nearly grown lion tossed his head back and let out a long "ARRRRRRRRRG!!" frustration having finally taken a hold of him, "WHERE THE ******** AM I!" the sky was offering no real answer for him though, "GOOD GRIEF!"

In the distance, the sound of an angry voice was carried to her. Anger? She certainly hadn't met many angry people in her time. Yes, Father often gave her lectures, but he never raised his voice. Mother came closer. She had a bit of a temper after all. But she'd never been as angry as that before.
What could have brought such a strong emotion to anyone in the Ela'wadiyi Lands? This place was peaceful, calm, went with the flow of things. Surely there could be no reason to raise ones voice! Yet, even still, she knew what she had heard and now she was wondering whether she should keep on this path in case she inadvertantly brought herself upon the source of such emotion.
She had only just reached adolescence, growing lean and slender, though staying relatively small - as all Ela'wadiyi should. Even though her mother had been a rogue, a pridelander, she had not inherited her mother's large build. It was somewhat laughable, in fact, that Eeva's father was smaller in size than his mate. And yet, Eeva supposed it was only to be expected. They were the smallest of all lions in the land.
When the angry voice sounded again, it was startlingly closer. She paused, lifted both ears and raised her muzzle to scent the air. Just how close was this lion now? And then, just beyond the rocks, she saw him. A white lion whose body was sketched with tattoos. So, the angry one was an Ela'wadiyian like herself. He couldn't be all that bad, then, could he? Maybe he just needed some help. Maybe he needed a friend. Yes, she couldn't very well turn her back on him now.
So, steeling herself, she padded forwards slowly, head parallel with her shoulders, blue eyes curious. And when she was close enough, she lifted her muzzle and called to him.
"Um...hello there. Are you...are you alright?"

"NO!" he barked at the stranger that had approached him (he hadn't even bothered to turn around to face the poor girl before shouting his answer), "No, I'm NOT okay! I'm tired, I'm grumpy I'm LOST and I don't know where the hell my clan is and I'm LOST. I GOT LOST!!" it was obvious he was offended by this sheer fact, "I got lost from my family by walking a few minutes AWAY!"
It was then he finally turned to face her; she was obviously a pride member. If her small frame did not give her away, her tattoos sure did, "And who the hell are YOU?" he asked, his tone just as rude as before. What the girl couldn't possibly know was... that for all his barking, Wingu was just that; all bark and no bite. He had a fiery temper and a short fuse and tended to burst with ease, but later deeply regretted it.
Especially given the fact he was so prone to making girls cry and how much he really disliked tears. Of course, right now, that wasn't what was going through his mind (which was unfortunate, needless to say - the ironies of life), "And why are just STANDING there?! Gods, everyone's so USELESS!"

She started as he responded, his voice still angry and sharp. Wowie, this boy was certainly having a bad day! Maybe there was something she could do to cheer him up? She considered herself a fun and amicable sort, after all.
Luckily for Wingu, this girl was not easy to upset. She may have been small and fragile looking, but she wasn't so delicate that she'd start crying at the first sign of trouble. No, she was better than that! Or...so she told herself.
And then the reality of the situation made itself clear. He was lost, the poor fellow. Perhaps he didn't get out much? Maybe he'd always stuck close to the den with no wish or want to go much further than that? Sad really. She knew the land rather well - mostly because she'd spent her whole childhood out on adventures even when her parents had told her not to. At least the adventures had made her well aware of the neighbouring terrain and landscape.
"Oh, me? Oh, I'm Eeva Subiani of Shadow Clan. Eldest daughter of Ona'raha and Rehema Subiani." The introduction did not come as easily as it had in previous meetings. She felt somewhat nervous, as if she were being tested on manners. "I'm sorry. Um...which Clan are you from? Maybe I can help you find your way back? I'm pretty good at finding my way and I have friends in some of the other Clans."
She blinked, waiting on a response, waiting for the angry voice to return.

Wingu's problem wasn't that he hadn't gotten out and about much. He had; his problem was that he had a disastrous sense of direction and was prone to not paying attention to things. He'd was the type that would have easily boarded the wrong train in the station and landed himself all the way across the globe on accident.
When the girl didn't reel back, but rather, merely looked confused before answering amicably, the boy frowned. Somehow, her reaction to him did not compute in his mind; that's not how things usually went! "Uuuuh..." it was clear he'd been thrown for a hoop by her lack of anger back at him, and all he could manage was to blink a few times, "Wolf clan..." he murmured under his breath before he drew his gaze away from her, his ears flattening back against his mane in a petulant manner.
Hmph! Who cared anyhow! Who cared that she was actually being nice? Not him! This was him NOT caring! Watch him not care!
Except... he did. If the fact he had just been thrown for an obvious hoop was not hint enough, the fact he looked embarrassed and was refusing to meet her gaze was giving him away.

Well he certainly wasn't the most descriptive of chaps. Angry and shouty, but not elaborate with his words. Oh well, she supposed he had answered the question. No more and no less.
She smothered a smile and moved closer, deeming that the angry young lion was safe enough to talk to. "Hm...Wolf Clan." And then the smile broke free, spreading its way across her maw. "Doesn't that just figure, huh? I don't think I've met anyone from Wolf Clan yet, which makes you the first." She paused. "Though maybe my father knew someone from Wolf Clan when he first arrived here. Galu'nadi, or something of the like. I've not met her myself and I don't think he's seen her since first arriving at these lands."
She set her paws squarely and lifted her head. "Okay, that's settled then, I'm going to help you find your home and put a smile on that face. How does that sound?"
Yes, she'd had experience with difficult boys. Her brother being one of them. He wasn't much of a talker either. Well if that was the case, she'd do the talking. She didn't mind that in the slightest.

She was moving closer.
WHYYYYY was she moving closer? His mind snapped out of second gear and into hyper-drive as the girl drew nearer, and he could practically imagine it running around his skull like a beheaded chicken, shouting 'AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH' like a mantra, with a bit of 'ohshitohshitohshitwhatisgoingoooooon' stuck in there for good measure.
On the outside though, he was merely blinking rapidly at her, frozen and unable to move from his spot. Again, he found himself opening his mouth and vaguely making that same stupid sound as before, "Uuuuhh...." oh my gooood that was the most unintelligent sound in the world and what in the hell was wrong with him anyhow and why was she looking so pleasantly at him and ohgodohgodohGOD.
Unfortunately for her, he wasn't really listening to what she was telling him. In fact, he only caught stray words here and there; Wolf, father, met, first.
Then, of course, she was looking up expectantly at him, as if she were waiting for an answer from him. It was right about then that he figured that, ********, maybe he should have been listening to what she had been saying because she wanted an answer and he had no cluuuuue what to say! "Whatever you say," that... that sounded vaguely okay, right?
..... oh god he was such an idiot. And the moment he got home, he was going to hide under a rock and never come out.

If she noticed his panicked state, she didn't let on. In fact she thought he looked rather cute, blinking like that and stuttering. Despite the fact that he was older then her, she felt an almost mothering instinct kicking in. Yes, she'd get him home safely if it was the last thing she did!
"Okay, follow me!" And with a bounce in her step she headed onwards, following the course she would have taken even if she hadn't bumped into him.
"You can't be too far away, the lands aren't that big. So, if we head in this direction I'm sure we'll uncover something! We could just call out and wait for one of your family to come and find us, but where's the fun in that? No, unless it starts getting really late I'm sure we can handle this ourselves. I mean, the night doesn't worry me either but my family would be worried for me. They're quite protective, especially my brother. He doesn't like letting me out of his sight! Sort of like he's my guardian or something. I mean, it's bad enough having parents fretting, let alone your siblings, too! Actually, it makes a change for me to worry about someone. Most of the time I meet people who like adventuring and stuff. I gather your not much of the type? Hmm...maybe I should introduce you to it. You never know. You might come out of your shell a little bit."
She paused for breath and glanced back, making sure he was still following. "Hey, Wolf Clan, what's your name anyway? You never told me before."

What was WRONG with this girl? And for that matter, what the ******** was wrong with HIM?
Wingu could apparently, not figure out the answer to either of these questions as he found himself turning to follow after the girl like some sort of placid little sheep of a thing. His mind was still trying to process that things were not going how they usually went when he met a new... well, anyone. Even his meetings with old acquaintances hardly went like this. His mind was also trying to process her cheerful nature (was she bouncing as she walked along? What the hell?), not to mention the fact he was actually liking to see someone act cheerful and happy around him.
He was not admitting to this last point however.
He would rather roll over and die, thank you very much.
Which he felt he was going to do anyhow, what with the way his stomach kind of almost dropped to his feet for whatever reason when she looked at him and asked for his name. Yeah. He was going to die right now.
He seemed to hesitate, his eyes darting left and right for a moment, almost as if really expecting to drop dead right there and then before he turned to look down at her, "I...I..." he was going to work on getting an impressive vocabulary as soon as he got back home, thank you very much, "Wingu Waya," he replied, having lifted his head, pulling awwwwwwway from her mild, as if putting some vague sort of distance between them would stop making him feel weirdly sick in the stomach.
This girl talked a LOT, he decided, and he was still kind of not really... listening to what she was saying so much as her voice. Which was oddly confusing.
What the hell was wrong with him?! "Why are you doing this? What do you want from me?"

She paused, waiting for his answer, already knowing it would be a pretty name and practically 'squee-ing' when he gave it and proved her right. Wingu Waya! What a cute name! It sounded like the name of a song. She smiled, thinking to herself how adorable he was. He seemed awkward and shy, almost as if he wasn't used to talking to people and having them talk back.
"Well it's nice to meet you Wingu Waya." She announced.
She was about to continue onwards again when he interrupted her with the most bizarre of questions. What? Want from him? She tilted her head and after a moment turned to face him. The smile was gone now, replaced by a sort of sad confusion. The poor boy, did he have no friends? No one to share his days with? Perhaps the Wolf Clan was small and that's why he didn't get out much. Maybe he spent his days protecting the densite because there weren't enough members to share the load with.
Maybe, maybe, maybe. All the maybes!
She shook her head and moved towards him again, replacing that smile. "Wingu! Why I am doing this is simple. Because I have nothing better to do. Because I want to help. Because I want to be your friend." She loved making friends. "Also because we're both Ela'wadiyian lions. We need to look out for one another, right?" She huffed and drew herself up as high as possible - which didn't bring her much higher than his chin. "And what I want from you is nothing. Unless you count friendship as a something."
She flicked her tail. "Are you okay with that?"

He was now considering skipping on that whole 'when he reached home' and vaguely wondering if he could find a rock to crawl under right NOW. Where were the big damned boulders when he NEEDED them anyhow?
Stupid rocks. They were taunting him.
He tried rather hard to not blush when she practically squealed at the sound of his name. He wasn't doing a very good job though, because while maybe she could not see the color due to his fur... well, he could, in fact, certainly FEEL the heat. No one had ever told him that it was 'nice' to meet him, and again, for what seemed like the fourmillionth time that day (that HOUR), he was thrown for a hoop. He had no idea how he was meant to answer that. Something told him that;
'Oh hey, nice to met'cha too! I'm sorry I almost bit your head off earlier!'
Did not quite cut it. Not to mention it would probably risk pissing her off. Maybe he was better off keeping his mouth shut. Things happened whenever he opened his big mouth; Bad Things.
There wasn't time to ponder this over any further, because suddenly, she was moving towards him again, and in his semi-panicked state, Wingu forgot to move his legs and get himself out of the way. As such, he was forced to endure her suddenly increased proximity, and that feeling with his stomach was back. God, was he allergic to her or something?! He was allergic to her. That had to be it. Either that, or he was really actually going to die.
"I .... you, what?!" he looked horribly confused, specialty as she brought herself up to almost touch him and he couldn't help but gulp, "I-you .... we do?" he was finding it hard to think and process thoughts with her right THERE. That, and his stomach doing that flippy floppy thing, which wasn't helping. When he finally processed what she was saying, he blinked rapidly, "You want to be my friend?" whyyyyy would she want to be his friend? He was loud! Obnoxious! And no one really liked him! Where was the trick? It had to be there, somewhere, "I... whatever!" he turned his head away from her, looking horribly flustered. It was clear that was as near an affirmation as he was going to get.

She smiled, sensing his awkwardness now, aware that he wasn't quite comfortable with her close proximity, the way she was speaking to him. It made her heart do little flips in her chest, warmed her and urged her to do something to make him even more uncomfortable. See, girls are mean like that. Yet, she knew teasing him would be bad and her parents would look at her and say: 'that's not something a leader should do.' That thought right there quelled any further intention of maybe moving to hug or pounce him or something in that range of ideas.
She sighed a little as the moment escaped her, wishing that her parents hadn't pressed such 'mature' ideas into her head. In the olden days she would have pounced him without a second thought.
I've grown up, she realised after a moment.
"Of course I want to be your friend, silly. Why would I not? There's no point making enemies with lions, especially ones in the same pride. We have to work together, right? Besides, I think you need a friend and since I'm prepared to offer you friendship, maybe you should take it?" She purred a little, sidestepping in an attempt to get back into his range of sight.
"Come on, Wingu, would it really be so bad to be my friend? Would it really?" She stared at him, waiting for an answer, almost afraid that she wouldn't like it.

Had she pounced him, Wingu would have probably had a heart attack. That, or he would have probably burned alive, what with the increased heat of his face. You see, he was used to having girls shout in his face; he could deal with that! He shouted right back at them with equal ferocity. However, he was not used to having a girl smiling up at him within such extreme proximity. Actually... he wasn't used to having a girl smile at him, end of story. He had no idea how he was meant to reach in such a situation, and surely, the idea his mind was finally putting forwards was OUT of the question.
He couldn't possibly actually reach out TO her.
That was weird. And he been a bit younger, he would have likely told himself that she had cooties and what the ******** was he thinking?!
Despite his outrage at the idea, he had actually moved his nose down an inch before she'd drawn back away from him. Which... left him even more confused. Because on one hand, he could breathe again, but on the other hand... he was vaguely disappointed he hadn't managed to lower his nose down in time to touch hers with it. As things were, she was lucky that he didn't reel back the moment she pulled away. Instead, he was left standing there, gaping openly at her, and looking horribly unsure as to the situation on a whole.
He was finally actually paying attention to what she was saying, as if in an attempt to find where the bloody, damned TRICK was. Because honestly, it had to be there somewhere. There couldn't NOT be a trick. The more he thought about it thought, the more he realised that no, it wouldn't really be so bad to be her friend, "I .... guess not," he murmured finally, still looking half mortified, half flustered to death and half... disapointed.

She liked him.
He was weird. He was loud. He was crazy. He was angry and confused and...had she mentioned weird?
But, she liked him.
He had a good face, good eyes and despite the shouting before, she had a feeling that he had a good heart to go with hs good looks. Wait, good looks? Did she mean handsome? Well...he sort of was, wasn't he? White was a good pelt colour, strong and bold and unusual. Her eyes fell to his tattoos, trying to read the story written there but not wanting to do so in case it made him mad.
She dragged her eyes up to his face again, noting his expression and laughing softly. Had she missed something whilst she'd been thinking of other things? Quite possible.
"Well, come on then, let's keep going, okay? Else it really will be nightfall by the time we get back." She trotted onwards, ever indulging in that bouncy, happy step.
"So, tell me, what is your family like?"
