This is an experiement. Dependent on how this works out, we'll see if it makes it or not. That said:
Welcome to the UFG BookShelves. Here is where the members of UFG may either loan, or give books to other members of the guild.
Basic overview: There are two lists, the giving list and the lending list. The giving list is just that. You will list books you are willing to give to another member, who then may either choose to keep the book or re-list it once they've read it.
The lending list is different. This is for people to list books that they don't mind lending out, but like the library, if you borrow it, you'll have to mail/give it back.
The request list is pretty self explanatory. If you'd like to read a book you don't see listed, put it on the request list.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
1. To participate in any aspect, you must first PM me (The Mini-Management) saying you've read and understand the rules.
2. To add a book, PM me (The Mini-Management) with the Title, Author, and which list you want it to go on.
3. To request a book from the member who posted it, please PM them directly to discuss shippping, addresses, etc.
4. If you are the person sending the book, please PM me and let me know so I can take it off the list.
5. Enjoy! Feel free to post and discuss the books you've been reading, but please do not post requests/listings. I'd prefer all that be done through PMs.
Table of Contents -
1. Introduction/Announcements 2. Rules 3. Lend List 4. Give List 5. Requests

RULES
There are a few overarching rules.
1. Be respectful of others. If you list a book in either the Give or Lend list, you are stating that you are willing send said book to that person. Shipping shouldn't cost that much if you send it media mail.
2. If you are borrowing, or taking, be patient. Realize that especially if you're on the taking end of the giving, that you're getting a free book basically, so if the giver uses the media rate for shipping and it takes 2 weeks, you'll just have to deal with it. Fast shipping is expensive and it is perfectly okay to be frugal and ship things slower.
3. If you are contacted about giving or lending your book, try to get the book in the mail within a week of the request. Same or Next-day shipping is not expected, but barring extenuating circumstances, it shouldn't be so terribly hard to get it out in 7 days or less. Especially not with the advent of printing off postage online. You don't even have to go to the post office anymore.
4. Since this involves giving out your address, and I don't want to be sued by any of your parents, please ask permission if you're underage. I'd rather you not participate than for me to get sued. At any rate, make sure you trust the people you're giving your address to.
5. Do not PM me your address. It is against the TOS for me to maintain any sort of collection of your personal information. Addresses should only be exchanged between the persons who are making the trade/gift/lending.
Rules Specific to the Lend List:
Lenders: Only post your books here if you want them back. You are not required to pay for return shipping.
Lenders: You lend at your own risk. I cannot do anything about a member who refuses to return or loses your book. Any disputes about that will have to be settled between you and that person. In light of this, I do not advise lending out expensive or otherwise valuable books, unless you explicitly trust said person to take care of them.
Borrowers: Only borrow from this list if you are willing to send it back. I am hesitant to put a time limit on your keeping of the book, but I would reason that 2 months is the maximum time you should keep the book. The lender may specify a later or earlier time, but the default will be at two months.
Borrowers: If you lose or damage the book irreparably, it is your responsibility to tell the owner and discuss replacement/restitution. Be courteous and treat these books like library books.
Rules Specific to the Give List
Givers: List your books here if you don't want them back.
Givers: Don't expect anything in return. Don't list books of significant value and expect to be paid for them. We're talking trade paperback, or hard cover if you weren't particularly attached to it.
Takers: If you're taking a book, try to either trade with that person, or list another book. Please do not take advantage of this system and take 4 books but don't give back any.
Takers: Be nice and once you're done reading it, unless you've absolutely fallen in love with it, stick it back in the book pool.
Borrowing guidlines:
If you've contributed to the book pool, 2 books per week.
If you haven't contributed any books, 1 book per week, and try to put that book back in circulation after you've read it.
Disclaimer:
I hearby take no responsibility for lost or damaged books. I take no responsibility for damages either to property or monetary damages. All disputes between lenders, borrowers, givers and takers must be setteled between the individuals involved. Participant is responsible for acquiring parental permission if the participant is a minor. Participant lends, gives and takes book at their own risk. I reserve the right to change or modify this disclaimer as necesary, but until such time this is the extent of my disclaimer and it is complete in its entirety.

My mom's old doctor is head of the department. Her specialty is HIV/AIDS. I'd highly recommend the Level 4 Virus Hunters of the CDC, if you like Preston's work. 3nodding

AirisMagik If I said I had no books, would I be murdered? ninja No. You should be hearing "GOOD GOD, MAN, HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE BOOKS!" about right now. But no death. You may borrow books if you wish, though.
