((This thread is for your child/teen to sign-up for one of the backstage crews for our upcoming performance of Romeo and Juliet! Child and teen only, please. There will eventually be opportunities for babies in other performances, but this one's just for the bigger kids. ^^))
Ryuk stretched out, yawning at his desk. The fliers had been posted around the Liberty Center all week, and now it was just time to wait-- anyone interested in becoming part of a backstage crew was supposed to come here and sign up officially...and he'd drawn the small straw (well, okay, as teaching assistant he -always- had the small straw if Aila didn't want to do it) and was stuck sitting about all day waiting for 'em.
The furry tiger-man glanced over at each of the papers laid out on the desk--
Sound/Lighting 1. 2. 3.
Prop Construction/Set Design 1. Kisala 2. Ignacio Garcia 3. Wisp 4. Kashmira
Costuming 1. Ophelia 2. Cascati Naborn 3.
Each as empty as the last. Well, he -had- only just gotten there. He was sure the little kidlings would show up soon.

Kisala was one of the first ones there. She liked social things like this, though she was pretty sure acting wasn't up her alley at all-- she was just too genuine for that sort of thing. Still, she could help where her talents -were-, and so she had decided to sign up for the Prop construction crew. Building things was definitely something the young tomboy could manage!
Still, the furry man before her was a little intimidating to look at. After all, he looked like some kind of humanized tiger! The black and white fur on his face left her a little speechless as she stood there.
"Problem?" he asked good-naturedly, blue eyes sparkling. Kisala blinked, shaking her head slowly, "Naw. I just haven't ever seen anyone like you before!" she assured him.
Ryuk laughed, "Where I come from we all look like this. But, I haven't seen a lot of kids around with fur, so, I can't really blame you for being surprised."
She blushed a little bit, "Plus...tigers are my favourite animals. So...so...it's kinda weird and neat at the same time!"
The man laughed, handing her a pen, "Well, humans are my favourite animals, so it sounds like we'll get along just fine! What are you signing up for?"
Kisala looked at the papers, snatching up the one for Prop Construction, "I like to make stuff, mostly science-y stuff, but I figure I can help out with making non-science-y stuff too."
He grinned, "Sounds like a plan to me!"

Ophelia had never even seen a play before, let alone thought about working on one, but she needed some extracurricular activities that weren't painting and surfing. She knew she was cursed with a bit of anticipation around large crowds, so auditioning was out of the question, but tech crew sounded exciting.
She arrived a bit behind Kisala and made her way to the desk. "Hi, Kisa," she said cheerfully, and looked over at the tiger-man. He was a bit intimidating. She was briefly reminded of her dislike of Melchy, but then remembered that Taki, Nahuel, and Merlin were also part cat, and none of them were particularly bad.
"Is this where I sign up for stage crew?" she asked.

Ryuk nodded, motioning to the pieces of paper, "Whichever one you want to sign up for, just put your name on paper. We'll start meetings in the next week or so, after everybody's signed up."
Kisala grinned at Ophelia, "Whatcha signing up for? I'm going to do prop construction 'cause I like building things and I figure this way I can help out."

Ophelia focused on the lists for a bit before putting her name down for costumes. "I really like fashion, and I know how to sew... a bit," she explained to Kisala.
She studied the tiger man intently, suddenly remembering there was something she was supposed to tell him. What was it? Oh, right!
"My dad told me to tell you that he'll help with the sets," she said.

There were a number of kids filtering in and out, possibly just to see who was doing it rather than putting down their name -- and yawning hugely, hair mussed, came a slim teenage gargoyle with his wings draped around his shoulders. Unhurried and unfussed, he took a pen from his pocket (eschewing the ones already there) to squint at the three separate pieces of paper, tilting his head at the names.
"Make-up's under costuming, no?" Cascati asked nobody in particular.

Ophelia turned to look at whoever had just asked about costuming and broke into a grin. "Casca!" she exclaimed. "Hi!"
She hadn't seen him in a while, and he had grown in the interim. Something about this delighted her - the fact that more of her friends were getting to be her own age, probably.
She considered his question.
"Probably," she said, motioning to the sheet for costumes.
The tiger man nodded.
((OOC: Shiori said it was okay to NPC him a bit, as I recall.))

"Hi," said Casca, and he split his mouth in a yawn again. He moved uneasily in his skin; something about him was coltishly awkward, stretched-out. Teenagerhood was new for him; he'd been out of school the previous couple days, possibly having sympathy time off to cope with suddenly being like a foot taller. He towered over Phelly a bit now; her head was about an inch over his shoulders. "Merci. Let me at it."
Cascati Naborn was written underneath Ophelia's name. "You doing it too, Ophelia?" he said. "Charming. It's alarming. It's alarming, how charming, etcetera." He looked even less human now too; the horns crowning his head had sprouted up, but he was in essence the same old Casca, scrubbing one hand through his curls. "Guess we'll be compadres."

Ophelia laughed at his impromptu bit of rhyming. He had certainly sprung up - he towered over her, and she was already pretty tall for a girl. "Guess so," she said. "It'll be fun, I bet."

"You going to be my fashion homeslice?" Cascati stuck a clawed hand out, three fingers tucked up in a sideways fist, obviously for her to knuckle-touch. "Why, Ophelia, I never, darlin'. You know your way about a sewing machine or am I going to have to draw you a map?"

Ophelia returned the fist bump. Then she gave Casca a peculiar look and burst out laughing. "What are you even talking about?" she asked.
She got over the ridiculously corny pickup lines long enough to think about what he had asked her. "Yes," she said, "I know how to sew. I've made some of my own clothes before."

"Tragic when a girl can't speak plain Anglais," said Casca, but did not seem to dwell on that much. The paper was shifted a bit fussily back so that it was in alignment with the other two; a little case of OCD. "Amazing. Spectacular. You'd get on well with my mum, she makes all her own clothes. Me, if I wanted to look as though I made my own clothes I'd just cut out the middle man and wear taped garbage sacks -- no offence, mademoiselle."

Before Ophelia could respond, though, the small tornado force known as Ignacio Garcia pelted through the door. He looked left, then right, then straight at the knot of teens around the table. He grinned toothily and nodded. There was no spark of recognition in his golden eyes at first (Kisala being behind the other two and only semi-visible) but that had never stopped him before. He strode into the room further with his hand up in a lazy wave. "Hey!" he called. "Is this where sign-ups are happening? I'm supposed to sign up for something with the play and, believe me, you don't wanna see me try to act 'cause it'll be baaad... But I can do something backstage, right?"
He looked hopeful and, strangely, a bit anxious. As if something depended on this chance.

"None taken," answered Ophelia, vaguely pondering what mademoiselle meant. She'd have to take French next semester, if only to be able to understand what Casca was saying half the time.
"I think I've gotta get back to class," she sighed. "I'll catch up with you later, yeah?"

"Don't be a stranger," was all Cascati said languidly, and bent his curly head down to the pages as he crooked a finger to Iggy. He and the other boy had never been particular friends -- Nacho had always been a teenager -- so he thought it was important to act completely cool in the face of the teen clique he'd never been around.
"Costuming, propwork, sound and lighting, Garcia," he said. "Pick."
