Rain. The sky started to trickle rain, only lightly, onto the savannah. It wasn't Tamu's favorite thing in the world, but it made beautiful things, so he loved it nonetheless.
He just didn't like being in it.
He looked around swiftly, trying to find cover. He had wandered near the edge of the forest, and right now, it seemed like the perfect hiding spot for him until the rain let up.

A bright green cheetah cub watched as a strange cub took refuge in the same forest she was hiding in. Pilate was a little confused by the cub, could he be another cheetah? She'd never meet another one of her kind before. Only lions had crossed her path and she even lived with a lion. For some reason or other, a cheetah had just not come across her.
Slowly, she inched forward. Little by little she weaved her small body around the trees until she was close enough to see the whites of his eyes.
"Are you a cheetah?" The cub wasted no time blurting out what was on her mind. In fact, she had been so busy wondering if he was indeed a cheetah, that she hadn't noticed the rain until now.

Tamu had been enveloped in the rain; his whole mind was focused around it. Besides, he never would have noticed the other cub, seeing as how she blended into the forest so well. "Huh?" he whirled his head around, coming face to face with the other cub. "Me? Of course I'm a cheetah!" he squinted his eyes. No one had ever asked him if he was a cheetah ever before. "Are you a cheetah?" the bright colors of the other cub took him by surprise, because Tamu had grown up around neutral colors.

Pilate tilted her head so far that she fell on her side. "Ophhhh" She grunted.
"Course I am," The cub looked up at the other from her backside. "What else would I be?" The fact that she was a cheetah had never been questioned. It amused her a lot that here were two cheetahs that seemed clueless about the other. How fun.

Watching the other cub fall over caused Tamu to lose his composure and let out an unpleasant snort. "Well, you never know." he rolled his eyes to the side, comparing her coat to the surrounding trees. "I'm Tamu." he returned his gaze to the other cub, smiling broadly.

With a small kick, the cub rolled back onto her side and looked up at the other with bright pink eyes. She was studying him very closely. He was another Cheetah and the first she'd lay eyes on in her whole short life. It was really kind of odd that his fur wasn't green like hers. Though she'd meet a good amount of lions that fur didn't look like one another, she'd always assumed cheetah's had green fur.
"I'm Pilate," The cub smiled and got to her feet and shook the dirt off of her fur coat. " Your the first other cheetah I've ever seen..."

Giggling a little, Tamu watched as Pilate rolled.
"Really? The first?" his eyes were wide; he somehow felt special, completely ignoring the strangeness of the fact that she, a cheetah, had never seen another cheetah. "I live with my mom and my two sisters, so I see cheetahs all the time." he smiled sweetly and swished his tail back and forth. "I'm Tamu, by the way. So why are you out here in the jungle all by yourself?"

The cub nodded, not really thinking anything of being alone. "Yeah , my sister's some where near by but I'm just here my self right now. " The sister she was referring to wasn't her biological sister at all but a lion that had adopted Pilate as her younger sister.

"Oh, I see!" Tamu smiled cheerfully, knowing too well how cubs tended to wander from their family. "I hardly ever stay home! The outside world is just too exciting! I have to go out and explore every bit of it." he looked around at the sky and the surrounding jungle, squinting his eyes in the soft rain. "Plus, I get to meet other cheetahs, like you!"
Leaning over sideways, Tamu kept his head moving, looking at all the plants around them. "Do you know your way around this jungle?"

The cub smiled, this cub was nice. Maybe all cheetahs were nice, she didn't know but he was making a good first impression.
"Oh, sorry , no I don't." She giggled, "But Id love to go through and see if we can't find some kind of fun new thing."

"You don't?" Tamu ruffled his brow a bit. "Oh well, that's fine! We can explore together then." he looked behind Pilate, squinting his eyes. "I wonder what all's back there? Maybe some cool stuff!" his vagueness was irrelevant to Tamu, and he hadn't even realized that he had been vague.

Pilate simply nodded , " Alright, sounds like a grade a idea," and started off into the dark wood slowly. "You think we'll find some cool stuff?"
The cub wasn't familiar with jungle terrian at all but exploring new areas was always fun. Her feet moved swiftly through the brush and the sticks. The jungle floor was crunchy and wet and different from the plains.

"I think we'll find hidden treasure! Or maybe another world!" Tamu thought of all of the possibilities that could lie within the depths of the jungle. He wanted so badly to find something amazing so he could brag to his sisters, and tell his blind sister of what all he saw in the world.
Following the other cub without thinking of the danger that could be lurking behind every tree or bush.

Pilate giggled, "Treasure you think that we'll find some? " She laughed again but quickly swallowed it as a snake brushed past her paws. Causing the cheetah to shriek and jump back.
Normally, Pilate wasn't jumpy. "O-ohhh... sn-sn-snake... " The hair on the back of her scruffy neck was standing straight up. Her tail even puffed out in a comic fashion. She looked like she just came out of the dryer or something. It was rediculous.

Smiling slightly, Tamu leapt towards the snake, leaning down next to it as it slithered by. "Oh!" his mouth was in a circle, fascinated by the small creature. He had never before actually seen one, but his mother had told him stories when he was still with her.
Mm.....mother. The title held a nice ring to it, but he quickly shook off his lingering feelings for his home. He had left that place, and was now out on his own.
"Isn't it cool?" he gently ran his paw along the top of it, feeling its scales. "If this is any indication, there should be some amazing stuff deeper within!" he sprang to his feet, beginning to trot towards the thicker foliage.
