The instruments could be, but the style is far too modern, I think. It's more influenced by Devo than Victorian aesthetics.

I say, everything that makes you FEEL like Steampunk just has to BE Steampunk! xp
It's like "Fantasy" music... everything goes, from Classical pieces, World Music and Soft Pop to Metal (my first foray into "loud" music actually was a band that based most of their songs on Tolkien xp ), Rock and Goth. As long as it feels right, it's valid Fantasy music.
And (just because I love to point that out), Steampunk does not HAVE to be Victorian - so at least in my opinion, neither does Steampunk music have to be.

I feel alittle bad because I don't like steampunk music all that much. I honestly tried but it just isn't appealing. I don't want to be a dumb poser -_- . Is it okay to just like classical music but not like bands like Abney Park and the like?

Classical music is more steampunk than what is currently considered 'steampunk' music anyways.

I'm incredibly picky with music, and with Abney Park for example, some songs I like, some I don't. Like a few people have stated before, what is or isn't Steampunk isn't written in stone, it's all about perspective.

It doesn't strictly have to be Victorian, but the music in the OP has a futuristic sci-fi sound that I wouldn't associate with Steampunk. I assume you're talking about Blind Guardian as the band who sings about Tolkien?

Good music. ^^ Steampunk is very subjective, and that's one of the appealing things about it. But if you want to be technical this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxFvdunfv-4should also count as SP. Though I have to say...I hate Evanescence. stare

I don't the vocal aspect of steampunk music. o.o; It seems to kinda ruin the mood. If Abney Park was purely instrumental, I'd be all for.

Yheah, I like Abney Park until I heard the vocals >.Q . lolz, I love lacrymosa, it combines one of my favorite classical songs with one of my favorite modern singers.

This song makes me think of the inner workings of a steam driven clock. It has vocals, but I pay more attention to the music, which sounds very... Uh... Different. Ramalama (bang bang)The first 1o seconds are a little irritating.
