Rosie was having a very, very bad day. She'd been up half the night with colic, and the other half with dreadful nightmares full of dessicated creatures and mutilated faces leering and laughing at her. She'd cried so long her eyes ached and burned, and her Caretaker Devil looked ready to drop to the floor in exhaustion.
Hisoka was hunched over a double-shot expresso, trying to remain conscious enough to drink it. Bones was a very, very unhappy girl, and when she was unhappy she let everyone know it.
"So tired," she groaned to no one in particular. Bones blinked up at her solemnly, eyes bloodshot. "Don't give me that look. You screamed so hard you threw up on me, I'm allowed to whine."

When Rusty wasn't feeling particularly like going out shopping, Shiloh and Opec had little romps all on their own. Some might call it bonding. Shiloh called it Walking the Kitty. The man had 3 recyclable (and very heavy, mind you) bags in one hand and wrapped around one arm and the other hand held the monkey harness attached to his son.
Opec waddled about at his leisure, petting his monkey harness and singing nonsense that consisted mainly of "baw" and "baow". He had no particular reason to want to see the coffee house than to simply investigate. He saw a lady at a table, waddled over, put his hands on the table, and peeked at her.
"Haaaai~"
Shiloh just chuckled.

Hisoka blinked slowly, then looked down. Hmn?
"Aw, hey critter," she said. Little fluffpudge! "Whatcha doin', buddy?"
Rosie froze, staring at the animal in terror. Was it some devilish hound come to gnaw on her only remaining flesh? She'd watched the moving pictures in the loud Spirit Box her devil liked to stare at for hours. Animals like that liked bones, she'd learned that.
"NUH! NUUUUUUUH!"

Opec beamed, eyes closing. He bounced a little on his feet.
"I say hai!" he said matter-of-factly. His ears folded back, though, at the sudden screams. He looked to the baby, and then back to her momma.
"Wass wong wit baby?"

"Well, thank y-"
The anguished screams cut her off mid-word and Hisoka gave a whimper, head thumping onto the table.
"Bones, have mercy."
Rosie would have been sobbing if she hadn't exhausted her tear ducts already. Instead she flailed her arms and legs, trying to get away from the animal.
"Rrr-rah ya!" she said, pleading. No eating, no eating!

Opec went up on his tippy-toes and reach-reached to pat the lady on the head. Poor lady had a loud baby! As he did this, he looked to said baby.
"Hai. No skween, kay? Mommy hab hedake."

Hisoka gave a muffled groan. Headache was generous. She had a damn aneurysm ready to burst.
Rosie gave a hiccuping gasp for breath, eyes squinty. Was it growling at her? Threatening? Why was Caretaker Devil ignoring her in her time of danger?!

Aww! Poor baby was scared! He didn't know why, but she was! Opec wobbled over and went on his tiptoes to rest his chin on the arm of the baby's high chair.
"No cwy baby. Issokay." Patpat arm!
"Opec, some people don't like to be touched."
"Shh. Baby sad."
"Okay," Shiloh laughed.

Rosie quivered as the animal petted her arm. She couldn't feel it, but that didn't make it any less frightening. It was trying to lure her into a false sense of security, she was sure of it.
...though it did sort of remind her of that odd dead stuffed thing Caretaker Devil had given her. It was quite comforting to cuddle with during naptime.
"....hurr," she said, awkwardly reaching out, fleshless fingers scratching behind the animal's ear. At least, she consoled herself, if it bit off her fingers she wouldn't be able to feel it.

Opec closed his eyes and leaned up into the pets, a strange gurgle-purr resounding in his throat. Yay! Pets!
"See? Opec naice. Baby naice too."

Oh gods it was growling at her. Okay, okay. Rosie withdrew her hand so quickly she smacked herself in the face, and tried to make herself as small as possible.
"Well, at least she didn't throw up on you," Hisoka said wryly. "That happens when she gets too nervous."
So mainly every other five minutes or so.

Opec frowned. Why did she stop? He reached up and scratched his own ear in disappointment.
"I not huwt! Wady, why yo'w baby skawed?"

"I'd tell ya if I knew, critter," Hisoka said with a sigh. "The kid's an enigma wrapped in a puzzle curled into a fetal ball of misery."
Shifting uncomfortably in the highchair, Rosie wished fervently that she knew what the devils were talking about. It was frustrating beyond measure that no one in hell seemed to speak anything aside from gibberish.
"Esht ya blabl," she said rather sulkily, clumsy tongue making a mess of her sensible words.

Opec turned again, ears swiveling on his head. He couldn't quite make out what language that was supposed to be, but he was almost certain that it was indeed a language. A baby speaking a different language? Hrm!
"Did...di'oo baby kumina PSHOOOOOOOOO?"
