Name: S'kagi Age: 25 Sex:Male Orientation: Straight Rank: Wing Leader Physical Description: A tall, strong man with hazel eyes and an outdoor tan, who wears his black hair somewhat long, and tends to habitually half hide behind it. While handsome enough, mostly by merit of the intensity of his gaze and an room warming smile, he's tendency to try and hide his looks comes from the scaring down one side of his face. Not from thread, but from a sharp edged surface that cut ragged lines into his skin. He allows himself this behavior only during times when not preparing for flight, however, firmly tying back his hair into a tail or a short braid to allow himself visibility at other times. Personality: For someone as interested in concealing his 'misspent youth' as much as he is, S'kagi is happy enough to joke around, and sometimes flirt lightly with a pretty girl, but is equally capable of knuckling down and being serious, planning for thread fall or making sure that riders with their particular temperaments and skills are arranged to try and cover for each others flaws as best as possible, to try and make sure everyone can stay in the air and fighting for the next round, though in private he occasionally displays a faint touch of melancholy, usually not for long, and often chews on his lip where one of the scars reaches all the way to the edge. History: Born in an crafting hall, and raised mostly by his mother and uncle, S'kagi (Saekagi then) didn't know his father, who had reportedly vanished when he was too young to remember, though rumor had it that he had gone out with his wife and failed to return when she did. He was never seen again. Even more rumors abounded about how this could have happened abound, though S'kagi knows his father was prone to drink, and that his mother spoke of him with a quiet rage. He didn't spend much thought on this through childhood, searched early, he took to the idea of being -anything- but a crafter. Intelligent and skilled, but a bit unguided, he slowly fell into somewhat of a rougher crowd among the candidates, and shortly after he impressed, things came to a boil. Having escaped duties long enough to decide they had the time to celebrate, S'kagi and the others got their hands, by hook, by crook, and any other form of coercion they could manage, on alchohol, and in layman's terms: Got themselves roaring drunk. If there were any truth in the rumors about S'kagi's father, S'kagi's own behavior certainly gave them validation. He cornered a young girl in the dining halls, coming on to her crudely, and when she tried to get away, grabbed a hold of her. The resultant struggle was short, but memorable. S'kagi's superior power broke the girls arm, and in her panic, she smashed a porcelain cup and used a shard of it to cut open his face in several panicked cuts. Sobered by shock and pain, S'kagi let her go, and spent the next few weeks being treated for his injuries, and in a lot of trouble for his behavior. Since that time he has never touched another drop of alchohol, and still harbors guilt over his actions, afraid he might someday repeat them. Seeking some measure of redemption in his own eyes, he threw himself into his training with a much greater zeal, striving to become the best rider and potentially best leader in the Weyr. His bond with his dragon, was even more strongly solidified by the incident, and in spite of dragons semi short memory, both still remember the promise Coriath made to his rider. "We'll make it better. We'll make it better together." Pets: Other/Talents: S'kagi has some extremely rusty skills with weaving, and somewhat less rusty skills at social dancing (for fun), and some poor skills at trying to occasionally jury rig things around his weyr, which occasionally results in new lectures from someone who recognizes the mess he can make. Picture: (if you have one)
DRAGON INFORMATION Name: Coriath Color: Bronze. Physical Description: A moderate sized dragon of his type, Coriath has darker 'brindle' patterns (tiger like stripes) over most of his head, neck, back and tail, and slightly lighter patches on his lower chin, which his rider occasionally jokes makes him look as though he were sloppy while eating or drinking. Personality: Coriath is S'kagi's grounding point, confident and cheerful he keeps S'kagi from descending into black moods, and harasses him occasionally until he relaxes his persistent hold on guilt, and the two of them often share a good chuckle at one in joke or another. He loves to fly, and loves to be social with other dragons, and encourages his rider to continue to do the same with other riders. Like his rider he is also capable of being serious, and bull stubborn when he puts his mind to a task, even if it's just rolling S'kagi out of bed in the morning. Other: Can't think of anything. C_C

Relationships
Emori: I think she's got great potential, and I'm very glad to see she impressed, though I'm concerned with how her family will take it.
C'ym: Going to be quite a handful. Unfortunately he reminds me of myself when I was younger, so I hope it doesn't take quite as drastic an experience to put him on the right track.
Raena: Much as I want to be forgiven, I think it's about time to realize she has no intention of doing so. Perhaps I'm being bitter but I wonder at times if she doesn't find a sort of prestige in it. Especially so after hearing from Kaskel.
Kaskel A pleasent sort. I'm happy that he actually came to me to tell me what Raena was doing. He works in the creche, so I imagine he's more patient even than he looks.
Kagiya My... daughter. This is going to be a difficult one to explain to anyone who asks, since she was conceived when I was still a Candidate, shortly before I impressed. She's an smart child, maybe a bit too smart for anyone else's peace of mind, and she wants to impress a bronze, she thinks. I haven't explained to her yet that her becoming a bronzerider is very unlikely. I think she'll sort it out.

It's been an interesting couple weeks. Ran into...of all people...Raena when coming into the weyr. She punched me in the face, and left me with heavy implication that she might have done quite a lot worse if she'd been holding a knife instead. It's...something interesting to know that in spite of my efforts there's some things I'm still powerless to change. It was... an unpleasant discussion at best. Worse, I later found out that after she had left, she had wandered into a circle of gossiping weyrlings and attempted to destroy as much of my reputation as she could. Kaskel, who works with the children, came to ask me about it, and I was able to explain the argument.

Lets see. Lice infestations. Candidates putting wine in my Klah... Flits on the sands. (From grown riders no less)... It's been quite a time of it, and things still haven't settled down. We're still vastly over crouded, F'sey is... F'sey. C'ren is... actually I think C'ren gets more bitter every passing day. He's sort of like a finely aged wine of unpleasantness. I don't know how anyone puts up with him, yet somehow they do.

It's sharding luck to be sure. I feel as though even though Raena has left the weyr to complete -real- training as a healer, things have only gotten worse. A candidate crept onto the sands and touched Cheoth's three day old clutch. They were punished, and kept to the sands, but not kicked out of the weyr. I don't understand this particular choice, since we're spoiled for candidates that CAN actually respect the rules. What sort of selfish mind does it take to decide you're far too important to wait for the touching? How could you even live with yourself knowing you'd jeopardized the lives of the clutch? The chances of people to impress.... I feel a bit sick at it, but also powerless. I'm a wingleader, but thats all. I have no authority to change the weyr, yet people turn to me as though I can. What the shards am I supposed to do?
