Jua was writing in the sand today. He was a little battered and bruised from his last 'lesson' in soldiering from Azula... but he was certain that he was getting better at fighting now. Still... she liked to make fun of his poetry, and he couldn't stand it when she did that. So he was making a good effort to try and write a really good one and impress her. The only thing was that he still... sucked at it. Honestly. Even he had to confess it. He was horrible at it. At least his fighting was improving, but this was pathetic.
"Great, now all she's going to do is make fun of me again." He muttered, rolling his eyes and sitting back on his paws and wiping out the symbols he had been using to make his words. "Okay... I need a really good idea..." Now if only he could actually get an idea. The other poetry he had heard all made it seem so easy. He had no sense of rythem or rhyme though... so it tended to make things a little more difficult for him.
Like Azula said, maybe he should stick to fighting... at least he was showing a lot of promise in that. With the exception of his sloppy impatient swings. But Azula was working on a way to fix that... which made him all the more nervous about what his next lesson would bring. But not nervousness in a scared way. That was anticipation. He could hardly wait for his next lesson, even if Azula was... strict, mean, and he was fairly convinced: Crazy. But she was awesome!

Zii was not sure how she was even supposed to be a guard. Her mentor was to busy right now to get to her just yet-only a little while longer he said. She simply went off on her own when her siblings got to go with their elders and get to learn. Zii was sort of jealous from it. It seemed like she had to try extra hard to do anything when her siblings got everything pretty darn close to perfect. Even the unruly twins, who got in trouble all the time; did well. Zii just felt, left out. Like usual.
Her sister Azar, whom she was always connected too had taken to Father lately and left Zii to her own things; though that was pretty much not alot. Right now, Zii was nestled on a dune, looking out over the sands and watching them move slowly. Her golden eyes had to trouble seeing over the sands. Her white coat had great uses actually. In the bright sun; she blended in with the white shine of the sun. Still, it didn't make her like her colors anymore. She hated her coloring. She bore only the chest mark that many of her siblings carried otherwise; she was white as her teeth.
And she hated that. She heard occasionally that if she had been in the other place-things would be different. Would they be that changed? She simply tucked her paws tighter under her as the sands swirled.

It took Jua a moment to see the girl who was actually fairly close to him. She was so white he hadn't noticed her at first, but her eyes had given her away. The only reason she hadn't seen him was probably because he was perched at the top of a higher sand-dune instead of small one like her. He tilted his head and watched her for a moment, but she seemed to be as frustrated at the moment as he was. She looked just about as annoyed... maybe they had something in common?
"Hey!" He called down to her. "What'cha doing?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. Jua was used to making... grander enterances usually, but he supposed he would have to settle for this one for now. He didn't really have anything going for him for once. Not even a decent poem to introduce himself. If one could argue he had ever written a decent poem in his entire life.
She looked farmiliar from somewhere... though he couldn't seem to place where. Maybe he was getting her confused with some of the other white cubs he had seen running around? No, the last one had been a boy he was pretty sure... eh, he couldn't be bothered to keep track. Azula would probably scold him for that later too. She seemed to take every oppertunity to whip him into shape. His mother said it was because she wanted him to be the 'best'.
He would argue she just liked to make him bleed. But whatever.

She was about to lower her head to the sands and take a nap to pass the time when she heard a voice over the sands. She lifted her head, a swirl of sand whipping past her face; causing her to sneeze. She seemed especially sensitive to sand getting in her nose. She shook her head, her white ears tucking against her head in annoyance. She spotted him, dark like the sky with lightening across his back. She noticed his white beginings of a mane and instantly wanted to be friends. Anyone with white in them was a friend of her.
"Hi!" She said simply, not sure how to explain what she was even doing at the moment before. She simply stood and padded down the dune to meet him, her little head swaying side to side in happiness. This was indeed something to improve her mood. "Hi!" She said again, stepping up closer to him; her golden eyes squeeze shut as another blast of sandy wind blew by. She coughed and sputtered slightly, wiping her face with a pale paw.
"I'm Zii'Moto!" She said sweetly, twisting her paw into the sand rather girly like. In the begining of her life, she had though boys rather silly but now they weren't so bad. "I was just sitting and watching the sand... Its really pretty!"

He smiled at her, glad that she seemed very happy. He couldn't help but notice that she was bright white, just like his mane, which he found extremely fascinating. How fun! He had thought maybe he had seen her around... but he couldn't really tell. He didn't pay a whole lot of attention in that sense he supposed. Jua couldn't help but go and trot over to her, glad that she was willing to talk with him.
He did notice that she didn't really answer his question, but whatever, her methods were her own. If she didn't want to say, she didn't really have to. He smiled when she coughed on sand and couldn't help but grin a bit, "Hi." He repeated, "My name is Jua'Mwiba. You can just call me Jua if you like though."
He bowed to her politely when he said his name, deciding to be a sweeping gentlemen if he could. It was best to act very friendly when speaking with women! Polite at the very least. Well, unless it was Azula... but Azula was a nasty old witch. And an excellent teacher. And he did like her, despite the Hell she put him through. Which was pretty much a constant. "Yeah... sand is nice. Always changes around and the like."

She was indeed happy to meet members of her pride that she was not familiar with. She tended to stay around her siblings and parents, just because she was natrually cautious. She smiled over at him and wiggled her toes in the sand and chuckled. "Hi!" She said again. "You can just call me Zii... its easier!" She said matter of factly, lifting up a paw and gesturing with it for expression. She was rather tickled at how nice he was-considering that her brothers were more show offy and sometimes jerks.
She looked back to the sands and chuckled, lowering her head and nosing the sand with her muzzle, making a little hollow in the golden grains. Her eyes almost matched the terrain; which delighted her a bit. Apparenlty she had the mark of a goddess too, like many of her siblings did... but those were just whispers... "What are you doing out here?" She asked, looking rather curious to see what he would say

Jua was just as pleased that she was happy to see him, as she was to meet him anyway. "Zii, yeah, that's cool. You can call me Jua if that makes you happy. Or Mwiba. Whatever you want." He laughed, liking that she seemed to be very relaxed. His own siblings could be... very high strung on occasion. That, and they liked to fight. She didn't seem to be like that, which was a relief.
"I was just... kind of wandering around." Jua admitted, "My mentore sort of kicked me out because she got fed up with me... but that's about it." He said with a shrug. Azula had kicked his a**... again. No big suprise there. Her temper seemed to be a little on the short side. "I didn't really want to see my parents or my siblings... they're all too grouchy. I wanted to relax." He said with a very difinative nod. He couldn't stand being around so much negativity.

Zii sort of got a softer look on her face. She then looked down at the ground, her golden eyes a bit forlorn. "Oh... that's not very nice of her." She said softly, looking sideways for a moment. She had yet to meet her Mentor yet. She was a bit behind-so to speak. She sighed. "I haven't met my Mentor yet." She looked up with a bit of a depressed look on her pale face. "I am not ready yet..." She added.
She wondered what it would be like with her mentor. Would he be kind and strong or mean and stubborn. She almost didn't want to think about it. She looked up with a smile on her face now-to chase away the bad moment. "My mom and dad are the regent and regentess of our pride... though I don't look like either of them... I look like my grandfather-only without my chest spots." She lifted a paw and put them on her markings. "Otherwise, I am the oddball of the litter... last to do anything really... " She said, looking out at the sands. "So I don't blame you for wanting to relax without your family around. I sometimes get a bit upset around mine too..."

"Eh, Azula isn't really very nice." He admitted with a shrug, not caring that the lioness treated him like crap. Honestly, if it made him a better warrior, he would take whatever she dished out at him and take it. He wasn't afraid of that kind of thing... which Azula had pointed out could very likely get him killed some day. He would see about that. "Hey, don't look depressed Zii. You'll get a mentor when you're ready. Roll with the punches. Take whatever comes, you know? Be glad you don't have my mentor. She never gives me a break."
He listed to her and couldn't help but smile, "Ah, your parents are the big bosses then. It's alright, I don't look a thing like my parents. Neither one of them has stripes or anything, and I look way different than my siblings too. You'd never know we were related by looking at us." True enough, most of his siblings didn't look anything alike. He and his sister were the most different of the group. "And don't worry. My family ignores me half the time I'm around, and my mom can barely remember my name. Dad too, he has so many kids running around. They won't even talk to each other." It didn't really bother him too much that his parents weren't together... he just wished they would remember who he was from time-to-time.

Zii listened was actually very interested in him talking about his teacher. She shook her head, her little golden eyes wide. She couldn't believe him-he didn't like all the attention she gave him. Course, she may be meaner to him than she suspected but-what could she say. She hadn't met Azula. "Oh... Well... I am sure she will lighten up eventually once she sees how good you really are!" She said with a smile, her little golden eyes gleaming now.
However, his next words sort of confused her a bit. A mother and father that didn't remember their kids names. "Really? My mom and dad had alot of children too... most of us aren't that much of a handful but my twin sisters are full of it-I swear they make up for the rest of us." She said. "Specially me... I don't think I could break the rules if I could." She said with a laugh. "Well... I do sort of feel better that I'm not the only one who looks so silly... "

"I don't know... Azula kind of strikes me as a woman who will never do anything other than... you know, strict things." Jua shrugged, taking a seat and yawning. "She's pretty hardcore... and beats up on me whenever I do something wrong. But she's a really good teacher. Just a really mean one." He mentioned, laughing a little. Azula didn't really bother him. She was just nasty. "Hopefully you have a nicer teacher."
"Well... mom kind of ignores us most of the time. And dad is almost never around. And he has a ton of children besides us. Like... a ton of them. I haven't even met most of them." Jua mentioned, tilting his head thoughtfully, "I don't even know if he knows who all of them are." He tried his best to explain, "And we're all a bunch of trouble makers most of the time. Mom can't stand us a great deal of the time... she usually sends us to do something else."

Zii really didn't even know what Azula looked like. She really didn't pay attention to those sort of things-though she should. She nodded as if she understood his words-but inside she was just sort of-confused or something. "At least she is orderly. I'd rather have orderly than lazy or worthless." She said rather sweetly. "I hope I have a nice teacher who can help me be what i want to be... even though I may not fit into the guard very well at first-cause I am a bit of a klutz and I sneeze alot..." She shrugged.
Zii gave a small chuckle. "My family is almost the opposite. My sister Azar is a daddys girl and is attached to his hip. My twin sisters are trouble makers and I-just sort of do nothing bad... I am no fun." She admitted. "I can't help it. Though I am trying to be more adventerous... just to get some of my own rules broken for once." Like no dirty feet. "My Mom and Dad are Regent and Regentess so I think that is why we behave so good... we sort of have to... I guess..." She wasn't sure if that made sense.

"Fair enough I suppose. Azula is supposed to be one of the best soldiers around... so I just sort of run with it. But it is fun to test how far I can push her before she tries to smack me down." Jua grinned despite himself. He knew he was asking for it whenever his mentor made a point of, quite literally, laying the smackdown on him. It was pure entertainment... though it still hurt quite a bit. But he always learned more about her that way. "Nothing wrong with being a guard I don't think. My dad is a guard, who knows, maybe he'll be your teacher?" Then he frowned, "On second thought, hope he isn't." It would be just like his father to hit on a female student...
He tilted his head, listening to her talk about her family, "My family... we don't exactly talk much. Or do much together actually. Most of the time you wouldn't even know we were related." For all that he had a large family, every single one of them seemed to fall through the cracks in one way or another. But he smiled at her, "Hey love, none of that pessamism now. You're plenty fun when you get to talking." He stood up, grinning at her, "You want to break the rules, then I'll help. I'm sort of a master at it." Or so Azula told him.

She gave him a small smile. So he wanted to help her break the rules then? Sounded sort of fun and down right scary. She wiggled her dark nose for a moment. "Really. Your dad is a guard. Wouldn't that be funny!" She said, giving a small giggle. "Well, whom ever I get apprenticed too I will try to be the best I can. I am trying to make my family proud of me." She said, looking off in the distance, where her family members were most likely. "Since the big battle and war, I think my Family needs something to make them happier! Though I am sure having us cubs did wonders for my Mom and Dad." She said.
She really didn't know a whole lot about the Safi. She just knew it was very difficult for alot of her Simo pride members-and that some had died. One in particular, on the border that seemed to cause a big stir. Her twin sisters said it was a witch but Zii didn't believe in such things. "Yeah... I do sort of. But... I don't want to get in trouble. I just; want to stray a little from my normal boundaries... like... I don't know." She shrugged. "I am so darn timid sometimes. I should really strive to improve myself..."

"Yeah... well, my parents seemed awfully pleased about the whole war thing. I wish I'd been around for it so that I could of helped. I mean, who knows when the next war is going to come up? And then, what good will it be to be a soldier, you know?" Jua said with a long sigh, wishing that he had been around for the war. That would have been... amazing. Then he could have been a hero.
Then he looked up and grinned, "Get, come on now, getting into trouble is what being a kid is all about! But let's see if we can push some boundaries for you. What haven't you done that you want to do, to help you loosen up?" If there was something Jua could do and do well, it was have fun and get into trouble. The more he got into, the more he had fun, generally speaking. After all, when he was older he'd probably have to calm down. Maybe. Naw. He'd probably always be the same.
