User ImageTamu was certainly busy! Rushed off her poor paws. Inbetween imminent cubs to be blessed, and new members being led in to meet her by her father, she had barely had time for a sit down! So this afternoon, without warning to anyone else, she took herself off for some quiet time.

But don't be fooled into thinking she actually got some rest. She tried, and failed, to relax by the edge of the estuary, finding that all the time spent running around had made her want to stay on her feet even more! The irony. So she followed the water, as it turned from salt to fresh, and further still until the jungled area opened up and out into the stretch of savannah that were the hunting grounds.

It was quite at the moment, but she wasn't out to hunt anyway. And any creatures that were about seemed to sense that and paid her no particular attention. Which was quite a nice change actually. She eventually rested herself in the shade of a large boulder that appeared to poke out from the earth like a great big claw. From underneath the ledge, she could still feel that perpetual sea-breeze and smell its distinctive aroma.

Neoni'liga smiled as she walked along the beach towards the river. She and her foster son Penda'ji were going to have a quick drink before she took him to the hunting grounds. It was one of the only parts of the Bahari'mtoto lands she hadn't shown him yet, as the hunting grounds basically meant that you were leaving the Bahari'mtoto lands and that meant that you had to be extra careful.

Although Penda'ji walked at Neoni'liga's side, he stayed a bit ahead of her so that she could keep an eye on him. He was still very cautious, and only ever felt safe knowing that someone was watching over him. He had been through so much as a cub, so he would most likely never be as carefree as Neoni'liga was. He was also not very adventurous, so his eyes tended to remain on the road ahead as opposed to looking all around him.

Once they had reached the river and quenched their thirst, they started walking towards the hunting grounds. "Are you OK Penda'ji? If you get tired let me know." Neoni looked over the pink juvenile to check that he was doing OK. When she returned to looking straight ahead again, her crimson eyes fell on a familiar figure in the distance. It was Tamu, the Mkuru-maji of the Pride, and the future ruler of the Bahari'mtoto.

When Neoni'liga asked if he was OK, Penda'ji smiled and nodded. "I'm fine thanks." He was such a quiet juvenile, most often only speaking when spoken to. His foster mum had done her best to bring him out of his shell, and slowly but surely, it was working.

When he too spotted the figure in the distance, he stopped and waited for Neoni'liga to be right at his side. "Who is that?" Although he didn't exactly sound frightened, it was simply in his nature to instantly be worried about meeting anyone new.

Neoni let out a small gasp, as she was surprised to see Tamu in the hunting grounds. "That's Tamu! She's the King's daughter, and someday she'll be taking over the pride from him." It soon dawned on her that this would be the perfect oppertunity to introduce her to Penda'ji. She quickly turned to Penda'ji, her smile wider than ever. "How would you like to meet her? I'm sure she would love for you to be an official member of the pride!"

She gave his small mane a quick lick, just to straighten it out a little. Once she was done cleaning the juvenile up completely, she took a step back. "You look perfect!" She said, still smiling. "Come on, lets go meet her."

Penda'ji seemed apprehensive at first, but it soon passed. Neoni'liga had told him all about the Royal family, and they all sounded really nice. He liked that Neoni had been a cub herself when she was allowed to join the pride, so that made him a little less worried.

"Ok!" He nodded and smiled, but was soon pulling a face when Neoni started cleaning him. Once she was done, Penda'ji looked to where Tamu was. He would do his best to impress her, and make his foster mum proud. "Lets go!" With that, the pair started making the rest of the way to Tamu

The pair of lions that approached could hardly be missed. In fact, Tamu couldn't think of anywhere they would blend in. They brought a smile to her face though. She could recognise the adult, a lioness who'd stayed with the pride from the days of her father's leadership.

She emerged from the shade of the boulder to greet them, although her dark pelt meant she never really left it behind. It was like the shadows had left their mark on her.

"Good morning!" she beamed to the two of them.

When Neoni'liga and her foster son reached the dark lioness, Neoni'liga quickly bowed her head in respect. "Good morning Tamu!" Because she and Tamu were of a similiar age, she felt very much at ease when addressing her. "It's good to see you!" She said with a warm smile.

Penda'ji just watched as Neoni'liga bowed her head when she greeted the dark female. Not wanting to disappoint, he mimiced her, bowing his head as low as it would go. He then waited to be introduced.

Once she was done greeting Tamu, Neoni'liga took a small step back and then nudged the pink juvenile so that he would move forward. "I guess you're wondering who this little guy is." She said with a small giggle. "Go on, tell her your name."

Penda'ji gulped as he stepped forward. It's not like Tamu herself was scary, it was just the fact that she was the future ruler of the Pride that freaked him out a little bit. "My name is Penda'ji."

He then turned back to Neoni'liga, just looking for that little bit of reassurance. When he saw her smiling at him, he smiled too, before turning back to Tamu. "Neoni found me when I was a cub." His smile faded somewhat. "My mother died, and Neoni was the one who found me and promised to look after me."

She continued to smile pleasantly at the pair, dipping her head to each in turn. She listened to the juvenile, inwardly marveling over his bright colours. He could almost have been Neoni's son, no problems.

"Oh, I am so sorry for your loss," she said in sympathy to Penda'ji. "I'm certain Neoni has been doing a wonderful job, and I can't think of anyone better really. Its a pleasure to meet you Penda'ji. I hope you can find solace and peace here."

Tamu even sat back down so her eyes were a little more level with Penad'ji's.

Penda'ji bowed his head again. "Thank you. It's nice to meet you too!" He smiled at Neoni'liga. "She has been doing a wonderful job. I love her very much." He then turned back to Tamu. "I hope that it will be OK for me to stay here with her."

Neoni'liga felt as proud as Penda'ji as she would've done if he were her real son. "He's such a good boy Tamu. So polite and helpful, and look at his markings!" The neon lioness motioned towards the bubble markings on both sides of the pink juvenile. "I'm positive that the sea has blessed him."

Penda'ji let out a small giggle as he watched Neoni go on. He thought it was funny whenever she gushed like that, and it made him happy to know that he was making her happy too At the mention of his markings, he turned to give Tamu a better look. "They're just like bubbles!" He said, now speaking with almost as much enthusiasm as his foster mother.

Tamu played along a little, for the sake of Penda'ji's innocence as a youngster. She smiled at him and marveled at his markings.

"Indeed, the sea has left a trail of bubbles on you. She must really like you," she said with soft, friendly tones to the youngster.

Even though it had been Penda'ji who had asked, Tamu made sure to address Neoni about his staying in the lands.

"Of course he can stay here, he certainly looks like he belongs here and I've not met a more pleasant youngster yet."

Penda'ji beamed, so honoured that Tamu agreed that he had been blessed by the sea. Then when she said he could stay with Neoni'liga, he couldn't be happier. "Thank you so much Tamu!" Excited, the pink juvenile bounded forward and nuzzled Tamu, before turning around to bounce into Neoni'liga's embrace.

Despite being an adult, Neoni'liga's reaction wasn't that much different to Penda'ji's. "Thank you Tamu!" She happily jumped up and down, before allowing Penda'ji to tackle her to the ground for a hug. "I'm so proud of you!" She said with a smile, before licking the juvenile's face a few times. It was obvious how much the two loved each other.

Tamu was quite touched, the scene certainly pulled at her heartstrings some more and she almost melted to see Penda'ji's reaction and expression. And then to see the same reaction from Neoni was just as priceless.

"Well I'm sure I'm not going to need to show him around the place," she chuckled. "He's probably already really settled here."

Neoni'liga was the first of the two to calm down, and bring her attentions back to Tamu. "Thank you SO much Tamu." She said again, this time with a more serious expression and tone of voice. "This means the world to me and Penda'ji."

When Tamu spoke about showing him around, Neoni'liga chuckled and nodded. "He's still a little small to travel too far, but I've shown him most of the lands." She grinned. "And of course I've shown him the best places to find shells."

When Penda'ji had calmed down too, he respectfully bowed his head towards Tamu. "Thank you." It was quite funny to watch the excited pair calm down together, just like how they had gotten excited together.

As Neoni'liga spoke, Penda'ji nodded in agreement. Everyday she had taken him a little bit further down the beach, and somedays she had taken him in an entirely different direction. He had seen most of the lands now, and most likely will have seen all of them before he reached adolescence.

At the mention of shells, Penda'ji nodded even quicker. "I'm not as good at finding shells as Neoni is, but I'm learning!"

Tamu smiled broadly at the two. She never expected things from her pride members but she could tell right away that these two would be devoted friends and a great contribution to the pride.

"I'm sure you'll become the best at finding shells one day, you'll beat Neoni, and you'll even beat me," she said playfully to Penda'ji.

Playing with cubs often made her feel a bit 'broody.' But she'd know when it was the right time for cubs of her own. She had plenty to be nervous of as it is! Feeling suitably relaxed and chilled out, she gave a good stretch.

"Well, I'm sure we all have something thats still left to do before the day is out. You need to get practicing finding those shells," she said to Penda'ji specifically. "I'm sure I'll see both of you around again soon."

Neoni'liga was so happy for Penda'ji right now. Everything had worked out wonderfully, and already she had noticed a change in him. Now that he was an official pride member, she was sure that he would have a little bit more confidence. What Tamu had said to him today was also going to help him grow within the pride.

"I agree, he'll be the best shell hunter ever!" When Tamu mentioned that it was time for them to continue what they were doing, Neoni'liga nodded and smiled. "I think we'll finish exploring for today and go find some shells! Goodbye Tamu, have a nice day!" With that, the blurple lioness gave a happy wave of her paw in parting, before turning and heading back down towards the beach with Penda'ji at her side.

Penda'ji's bright blue eyes lit up at Tamu's prediction. "You really thinks so?!" He turned to Neoni'liga excitedly, and then back to Tamu. He would have to work extra hard now, to prove that he was capable of doing what Tamu had said.

When it was time for her to leave, Penda'ji moved forward to give Tamu a small nuzzle of gratitude. "I'm going to find a special shell just for you! Byeee!" He quickly joined Neoni'liga at her side, but was soon running ahead of her in order to get to the beach quicker. He was an official member of the Bahari'mtoto now, and he felt as if things couldn't get any better.
