Certainly Yaxha had yet to have gotten used to having a companion to his name when he woke up in the morning, even then still jumping just a bit when he woke to find the white-and-black lioness at his side and frowning just a touch.
Hmmmm??
Oh, yes, the nameless lioness was still there, out on her quest to find herself a name and dragging his a** along with her for the ride. Certainly he didn't mind the walk, having been more than willing to accompany her and her efforts.. ..
Even if some days it meant he was getting dragged across the savannah against his will.
And oh what a ride it had a way of being. HA HA.
But at least he didn't need to hunt that day so whatever name-quest they needed to run on was free to be pursued.

Well hey, better to be on a path of excitement and constant motion than just sit and marinate in one's own stagnation, right?
At least, that was how Eshe saw things, ever the cheerfully sedate leader of their quest with no particular direction and only the loosest of objectives. Day in and day out, it was all whims and impulses-- following the birds one day and fish the next, chasing clouds, chasing horizons, chasing trees and antelope and turtles and all sorts of other joyous things she believed might hold the answer~
And now stars.
Yes, because she'd gotten a particularly strange inclination as the sun set that day and just had to share it, smiling with that same ever-sedate innocence back at her traveling companion before dropping the big news.
"I have an idea!" Oh, that never panned out well for Yaxha. "Let's go stargazing tonight-- lovely weather for it, don't you think? Good clear sky, mellow breeze, the faint song of the nightbirds... All we need is a proper spot for it. Yes, that'd do nicely, wouldn't it, Yaxha?..."
Lame expeditions always turned out so epic with her, didn't they?

Oh dear, it seemed his companion was already developing.... 'fun' ideas, unfortunately. As that meant that today he'd be subjected to more 'fun' in terms of being dragged around somewhere by the female, which was highly unfortunate for him.
"I don't know how the weather is, I haven't looked outside yet.." he answered flatly, knowing very well that she'd eventually just poke her head outside and go 'IS BEAUTIFUL, LET'S GO', thus prompting him to rise from her side and stretch out his tightened limbs before turning to poke his own head outside.
... .... Nnngh, it was warmer outside than he really would have liked, really, and really.. ...
"There's nowhere for birds around here and it's cloudy.." he pointed out, looming back inside their temporary den at his companion, frowning a bit. He knew as well as any victim could that it meant he would be dragged out on an advennnture.

Today, tonight, tomorrow, towhenever! But surely Yaxha must have enjoyed the constant thrill and adventure of her little path, huh? Eshe certainly liked having someone to drag along for the fun better than having him absent.
"Well those are things we'll be needing to fix, I'd imagine," she stated simply and matter of factly, her smiling growing a bit more pleased as he was lured out to join her beyond their little den for the day. "Perhaps a change of ground will change the sky, and a change of sky will change the trees enough for birds to come join us, too!"
FLAWLESS LOGIC WAS A GO-- ... or okay, not really. But did she ever make much of any sense?
"Let's hurry along then, the sun is setting." Obvious statement was obvious too; the sun had pretty much set already and there were only a few straggling ribbons of gold light on the horizon, mostly rimming all the clouds. "It'd be terrible if we lost such useful time to idling."
Which prompted her off, just like that, turning to start her hop skip away with every expectation of him to follow.
Since, y'know, he always did.

... ...!!!!?
OKAY, seemed like she was off without even giving him a minute to protest, instead just leaving him to sigh and chase after Eshe's 'hop skip and a jump' ahead of him. Auuugh!!!
However, as expected, it took very few steps for him to catch up with his female companion with a sort of exasperation to his expression, his shoulders drooping just a bit before he slowed into pacing at her side as easily as ever.
... .....
"Well it isn't as though the stars are going to vanish on us in twelve minutes.." Yaxha replied, ignoring the very fact that they would disappear in oh.... .. Eight hours or less? But it certainly wouldn't be taking that long to find a spot to settle in and find a place to watch them, right?

Oh ho ho, Yaxha THOUGHT it wouldn't take them that long-- but alas, fate was rarely so kind. And it loved the delicious fail of good irony.
Pleased to see that (as expected) he'd caught up to stride along with her, Eshe just lengthened her stride, breaking into an easy lope across the open earth and not even watching her feet, but rather the sky, as they went. Hell she could've probably run right into a tree without realizing it.
"But that's still twelve minutes of admiration lost to the ages," she mused, trailing off to start humming a little tune as they went, of all things. She liked to hum like that-- did it often, even broke into random song whenever the lyrics came to mind. "Terrible to waste a-- oh! That might do!"
W-wait, stop running, stop running! O SHI-- ... Yeah, she'd broken into a gleeful gallop at that point and her poor companion was just left to race after.
"Excellent vantage point, I'd imagine! Good height, nice and clear, perhaps enough room for us to sit comfortably!"
But what was she talking about?
Maybe it was that jagged lumpy rock-like-pile-thing in the near distance?

SIIIIIGGGHHHH... ..
She really was such a dreamy female, but Yaxha simply shrugged at her excitement to settle in and stargaze, making no further point to 'kill' the moment and just strolling along beside her, only pausing when she motioned to the 'possibly vantage point', frowning a bit.
Uhhh.. .... .....
"Well, if you say so.." he answered with a light shrug, not really making any point of contesting the possibility she was holding onto. Since maybe it would be a decent enough place to settle in to watch the stars, maybe it wouldn't be.
"Ahh, Ira'Quinh, but if you sit and watch something for far too long it may lose it's novelty, mm?" Yaxha offered in exchange for her insistance that twelve minutes would be a waste of good star-gazing time!

"Nonsense!"
What-- her? Or no, seemed she was simply chuckling and dismissing her silly straight-man (well, lion) partner, still trucking along at a blistering pace as she threw back her head to smell the sweet air. "Silly nonsense! There's no such thing as lost novelty if it's truly inspiring! And what better to captivate one's attentions than a thing that's always changing?"
That... was actually a semi-valid point given the ever-shifting nature of the sky, though it still didn't mean she had to race around like that!
It was only a short couple of minutes before she'd reached her 'destination' too, tearing joyously through the shallow grasses and empty patches of dirt until she screeched to an abrupt halt before the towering jagged castle-but-not shaped reddish mound in front of her... and tilted her head to one side contemplatively.
"Hmm, what a curiously shaped bug mound..." And then came the real fun, actually brave enough to go forth and start SCALING the giant mound of red spit-and-dirt african concrete to where it's 'peak' would be to test the observation potential. HMM...

And why hadn't his common sense kicked in during the few minutes he'd kept himself at the base of the termite mound? WHY? Oh no, he'd been content to sit there and hope he wouldn't sit on any termites but his stupid need to follow the woman up to make sure she wouldn't get herself hurt had kicked in... ..
And he'd climbed about half-way up after her when the particular portion of mound he happened to be scaling went 'BITCHNO' at him, collapsing under his paws and sending him back tumbling to the ground... ...... ...... ...
COVERED IN ANGRY TERMITES THAT WERE STARTING TO GNAW AT HIS FLESH, OW OW OW OWWWWW!
HIssspitswiperollingrassgetthemoooooooooooofffffffffffffff!!
It was probably hilarious to his companion.

O SHI--
Poor (or not so poor) Eshe had glanced back at her dearest partner just in time to witness that fall, too, brows raising in a look of befuddlement as he suddenly seemed to be eaten by the termite mound by pitching into it before said mound spit him right back out again-- onto the ground, and in some kind of terrible distress!
Oh dear!
"Ah, I suppose this doesn't seem particularly stable after all..." she thought out loud (which probably would've earned a snarl of "NO s**t SHERLOCK! DX" from any more verbose lion) before calmly hopping right over the broken hole of fail and landing lightly next to him while he hissed and rolled and squirmed.
"That's not pleasant at all..." Again, NO s**t SHERLOCK-- "Ah, hold still, I see something crawling on your underside..." But for her blitheness she'd at least volunteered to jump in and FLING herself on his stomach to brush the crawlies off his chest with her paws. "Funny, I didn't know those structures were so full of displeased things..."

Well his expressions probably did all the 'NO s**t SHERLOCK'ing for him, just frowning at the lioness as she made the understatement of the century, but allowing her to assist in the 'save Yaxha from termites' quest, his frown possibly the most WONDERFUL sight to see at that given time.
Ow ow, he was going to feel those little bites the next time he jumped into water to cool off and clean up if it happened within the next week.
And now the termites were off to go rebuild their mound including little pieces of him!
GO GO GO!
... .... SOB. He was part of the colony now, and was likely to go and get dragged off elsewhere in the next 20 seconds by his companion, now that he was freed from gnawing insects.
"... They're termite mounds. Not exactly solid nor containing a colony of hippies, Ira'Quinh."

Hmm, hmm, hmm, swiping off the little crawlies was such a peculiar task indeed! But even then, Eshe could still hum a cheerful tune, and did so as she continued to run her paws shamelessly through Yaxha's fur, managing a surprisingly sensitive (and thorough, actually) job of things before she felt satisfied and hoped right off again, flicking a bug off her claw with a smile.
"Termites, are they? Hmm, I always wondered the proper name for them; never saw those structures during my youth, though. I suppose they must not be a fan of the water..."
Or the swamplands. Whatever worked.
"But I suppose that's true," she added a little more soberly, glancing back over her shoulder to contemplate the mess they'd just broken before it was back to ALL HAPPY SMILES. "Well then, I suppose we'd best look for a more appropriate perch-- perhaps those stones over there! Aaah, yes, I think they may do! Let's hurry, Yaxha! The sky awaits!"
Gjkldsfafa;;fakfdl;fg AND THERE WE WAS, OFF AGAIN AT A DAMNED GALLOP BEFORE YAXHA COULD EVEN TELL HER TO SLOW DOWN--
... Poor guy. Seriously, how in the world had he managed to get himself stuck with such a ridiculous hippie lion, again?

Couldn't that woman just sit down and stay in one place for more than a minute? REALLY? REALLY? AUUUGH! But either way, Yaxha got to start off after her with a half-gallop to catch up, frowning as the female was off and had already forgotten the disaster that had come from her LAST perch in favor of decreeing her NEW perch as it was, frowning and hoping that this one would be a bit more solid.
But it was a rock, rocks were solid, right?
Right.
No way he'd suffer from sitting on a rock. WHO KNEW maybe the quest would have finished up soon enough for them to actually.. ... ....
Sleep.
HA. HA HA.
Like he'd be given permission to do such a thing! WHY ON EARTH WOULD IRA'QUINH HAVE BEEN REASONABLE!?

... Solid. Oh, HA FREAKIN' HA, now there was a disaster waiting to happen and a cosmic joke to laugh at!
But poor Yaxha had yet to clue in on that little joy as he raced off on the exuberant Eshe's heels-- of whom was a good step and a leap ahead of him as she raced along, bounding off into the distance YET AGAIN for that jagged little outcropping of stones that appeared to be balanced on a (not so) gentle slope--
Yes, surely that would make for a fine vantage point, she decided, screeching once again to a halt after the cheery five minute gallop at the pile's base to give it a good, scrutinizing look.
"Hmm, seems to have proper height, yes..."
And again with the climbing, too, not even hesitating for a second to do something silly like think of any potential disasters as she made the ascent to take a lookout.
... Which was probably not going to end well, given that some of the smaller stones wedged at the VERY base of the whole thing were making odd crackly noises and tiny bits of debris had started to shed between them...........

dfsjklajfskdfjdkljafk;fjfl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was starting to become a rather common thought to race through his mind, actually, racing after the female and even making it to the new 'perch' in time to have plucked her off of it with a gentle shove... ...
For all of the rocks that were holding it up to go 'BAI BAI' and send the top rock rolling off down the hill, taking the brown lion on down with it, howling and hissing the entire way until the rock finally jerked to a stop and sent Yaxha SAILING off into the distance.. ...... .......
Or just several feet, landing horribly RIGHT ON HIS FACE in the grass, his butt stuck up in the air and making a very unhappy sound at the entire ordeal.
WRRRRRRRRRYYYY?
Because it was funny and something that SOMEDAY HIS OFFSPRING WOULD PROBABLY FIND ITSELF DOING AS WELL. Hilariously enough.
