How funny! I was going to start a topic like this. You beat me to it.

I've seen some of Lain, all of Evangelion, all six episodes of FLCL (Fooly Cooly)...

I'm more of a manga person myself. I didn't have a dvd player for a good long while, so I had no access to anime...

So I bought the manga.

The LIST!!! (This is going to take a while... )

All of Sailor Moon, all of Ah! My Goddess! (or Ah! Megami-sama!), up to current in Princess Ai, Saikano, Ai Yori Aoshi, DearS, Cardcaptor Sakura (both series)....

You know what... I'm not going to do this, because I think I'd bore you all.. sweatdrop

We'll put it this way... If you guys ask, I'll answer what I've got and read... K?

Uhh.

Naruto.
Full Metal Alchemist.
Cowboy Bebop.
...

I'm pretty sure I've seen more, but I can't remember. D:
I'm more into the manga than the anime half the time. XD

But why the manga over the anime? I mean, you can hear and listen to the characters in color. Manga is just black and white, much less exciting than actually seeing the characters in motion.

I'm not dissing manga; I'm just wondering why some people prefer manga.

Sometimes I prefer manga more.
It's mostly because some anime is dubbed horribly and the voices drive me crazy.
So how is FLCL?
I've never seen it.

For reasons unbeknownst to me, my friend Megumi and I are the leaders of my highschool's anime club.
The reason why that is odd is that I don't really enjoy anime very much (anymore).
I'm a very good artist though, if I may say myself (image in sig at least 8 months old xD)...
My favorite anime/manga are:
Full Moon wo Sagashite
Shinshi Doumei Cross (manga only)
FLCL *****!!!!
Naruto (I've only read a few of the comics, I'm a bad anime fan...)
Fullmetal Alchemist
Pokemon sweatdrop
Inuyasha (I guess gonk )
and others....

Edit: I wanted to add that we are having a disgusting debate between sub and dub on the anime club's forums and these stupid 6th graders just won't budge on their weird little love for dubbing. To be honest, most anime-club-goers (myself not included) are hyper, fangirlish and "ZOMG INU-YAHSHA <3<3<3"-type people who have been held back at least one grade gonk

True. But then there's always subbing. I like to hear the anime with the Japanese in it, just as they had intended.

FLCL? Oh...it's, um, crazy. It won't make sense at first. It still won't make sense at the end, but you'll understand it. It's a great anime, you should see it. I like how it's short, yet enjoyable.

I used to be in the anime club, until I realized that half the club was composed of fangirls who just loved Inuyasha to death...and the other half was composed of guys who wanted Naruto and hentai at the same time.

I mean, what is it with Inuyasha? I don't get it.

I'm all for subbing. I'd rather hear the anime in Japanese, just like it's mean to be. Translating is difficult, and its flaws can be seen when the dub has lost the original meaning of Japanese script.

Plus, dubbing is weird. It just sounds...weird and unnatural.

This is a quote from a member in the club (older than me gonk )
Quote:
Reading and TV should not have to be mixed! Not only that, but reading and watching the cartoon is hard to do if you cant understand japanese. Some anime cartoons are not made in japan! Take Inuyasha for example. That's made by Viz inc., a company in Canada. Also, it doesn't change the lines. If the character has an aditude while speaking, you can't really describe it in text. The aditude comes out in japanese and we have to be censored to that. I want to have the full expirience of the anime cartoon like every other cartoon, not watch an hour of a language i can't understand! They dub it for us and we should take advantage. Don't disipline the Americans in the club. Since everyone can understand english in the club, it's only fair to have it in english, regardless of if your opinion is against the acting.

Satisfy the club, not yourself, (red...em) and (my friend). No offence, but that is how I feel.

The problem is people want to get the full experience out of anime and in this case they can't because of censorship... therefore you have to search everywhere for the unedited version. Plus there is a little thing called subtitles If you can read then you can enjoy the anime in it's original Japanese format.
(when they rarely have unedited and original Japanese anime they include subtitles)

p.s. inu yasha is from Japan... VIZ just has the rights to publish,endorse/advertise,edit, blah blah blah Inuyasha

Like Industria said, it's not made in Canada, but in Japan.

I'd rather hear the anime in its original language, that's all I'm saying.

Eh? I didn't say that, somebody in the club said that to me, leading to a four page argument between he and I. I tried to convince him that you're missing out if you don't hear it in Japanese but he's too hyper to pay attention crying .

I am aware that Inuyasha is made in Japan x_X
