"I... I wonder how far I've gone..." the Cerynei mare muttered to herself, glancing uncertainly over her shoulder. Footprints were short-lived in the soft forest grass, and she wasn't familiar enough with this land to know what trees were where and what invisible paths she might take. The scenery was beautiful, yes; but she still missed the forests of her old land, and knew that she would never see them again. That thought was a stubborn one to drive from her mind.
Still, in her curiosity and willingness to learn, she had traveled further and further from her herd's usual resting spot, yearning for discovery. Her travels had taken her far, but never this much, and she had always been able to smell her way back home. But this time was different; she had crossed the boundary for scent, and stepped into a whole new world, nothing that she had ever seen. Even some of the trees looked different from the ones back at her resting place! But, despite her thin nerves, she still drove on in anticipation of discovering something worth the while.
Her snow white hooves touched the ground lightly and silently, as was the way for her kind. Her ears were never still, for they twisted this way and that, discerning sound from sound, and listening for the greetings of danger. Her muscles were always tense when she was away from her resting place, ready to spring whenever trouble presented itself. It was the trait of her people, the graceful, swift speed that helped them escape from predators. Though they were a different race, they still had special abilities that made them the Cerynei that they were. Kana appreciated these things.
She halted as a strange sound lit the air, and her ears pricked forward as she listened. Her legs tensed, as if she was about to spring into the air itself; but she held her ground, and forced herself to calm. It had only been the wind, or a twig, or a mischievous little woodland creature. It was nothing to worry about... yet.
"Easy, Kana. You are simply hearing things," she whispered to herself in the pure, reassuring voice that she was known for.

A soft breeze brushed by, and stirred soft life into the leaves and grass of the sparse forest land. Birds ruffled soundly from their high perches and squirrels were motivated from their dens to come out and explore yet again. And all were watched through shaded eyes, watching in sharp amusement to all the miniature interactions in the canopy above. Seems every being of the woods were in delight of the snow finally melting away. Even the owls, hidden but occasionally mumbling out in content to their cozy surroundings. A sudden grunt whispered from the distracted soquili's lips, and he turned his gaze down quickly. A brief tickle had swept over his ankle, and the male was surprise to find a tiny rabbit snacking on some grass beneath him. Hn, did he seem that calm....that even timid rabbits kept appearing beside him? Maybe he just stood still for too long and they mistaken him for an odd plant.
Shrugging, Jumanjii' stepped forward with his heavy hooves, the movement causing the little creature beneath him to lop away. His iced eyes turned once more to the trail he had been following earlier, studying the marks upon it. He knew these woods like the tips of his ears, having been born in this very area. And yet he couldn't believe all the small changes that have been made in his years of absence. New paths had been made and the old grown over by shrubs and roots. Trees had aged just as he had, and he couldn't recognize the ones that had been as short as him in his colt years. Truly, alot had changed...but all in all the forest had thrived healthily. He could only wonder if his mother had done the same....
Ears pinned, and the stallion turned narrowed eyes to the left. There had been a slight movement beyond those trees, and he swore he heard a voice. Standing firm, he waited tensely to discover the source.

Kanani stood still, listening to the sounds of the forest around her. Her sensitive, furry ears swiveled this way and that at the random noises, and her legs were readily tensed for an easy flight. Her muscles twitched at a sudden rustling of leaves, but as she whipped her head around to look, she noticed that it was only an energetic squirrel, scavenging in the foliage for any un-eaten nuts. His grey-brown head popped up, as if sensing her eyes on him, and he skittered away on four tiny paws. Her body relaxed.
She decided to continue her course, discarding the squirrel as the origin of her worries. It had been he who was making all that noise... she hoped. But she refused to dwell on the possibilities, and forced her hooves to resume their movement, slowly easing herself forward.
Once again, she was absorbed by the fascinating differences of her new home, and her gaze became entangled in the glorious sights of new plants, stones, formations, and creatures. At one point, she completely lost track of where she was going, and did not notice the growing figure in front of her until, at the last moment, she ran into it. She gasped and shook her head to clear it, then backed up to glimpse what had blocked her path. Her heart skipped a beat.
A Soquili!

Just.....what was that thing? It could very easily be mistaken for a soquili, if not for tufted ears and short fluff in the place of a tail. Was it a Skinwalker.....no, that was its true flesh. Perplexed, Jumanjii' stood still and silent as he watched the other move about. With the stranger came an air of tranquility, and the stallion felt that this other was no predator to fear. But even so, that was no reason to discard caution. In any case, he was larger than the mare before him should she turn out to be feral.
Pinning his short ears, he observed as she came nearer. Had she not seen him yet? Even if he was shaded by the trees, his pelt was far to bright to be of any camouflage. And so it was with great surprise that the stallion felt the other bump into him, both of them not expecting that course of action. One being completely unaware and the other being completely disbelieving.
"Oy." He spoke sternly, but with an easy edge to not cause alarm. One brow quirked as he looked down to the almost petite creature, tilting his head an inch. "Just what are ya questing all the way out 'ere for?"
