Light filtered through the trees in just the right way so that a spot light was on a waking bird. Fluttering her black and mint feathers Sedna started her day. Her early morning routine was quite simple, wake and make as much noise as possible to welcome in the day.

Her high pitched chirping mixed with different levels of squawking echoed off of the trees and she puffed proudly, happy her "song" was going so well. She was not a song bird, but since being raised by a pair of song birds she felt obliged to carry out their routine.

Nusurika was wandering around by himself, something he was getting used to. He had the other males around, sure, but he was still adjusting to the differences of living away from his sisters. He knew his place, he accepted it, even knowing he would probably stick to the periphery for his lifetime because of his colors.. but that didn't mean he couldn't miss the girls he grew up with at least a little bit! Right?

Well, he didn't have to share his thoughts on it with anybody anyway, so he only had to hope it was OK. He intended to work hard and be the best he could for what he was.. but that wasn't on his mind at the time. It was early morning, there would be plenty of time for worrying later! He was exploring more of his new residence as possible when the shrill cries of the avian reached his ears. At first, he was too far away and it was faint. As he moved, it became louder and clearer- and much more curious. He hadn't too much experience with birds, but the poor pattern to what he did not recognize as a song made him move to investigate.

He quickly found the tree the sound was coming from, and squinting against the light, he looked up in hopes of discovering the source.

In Sedna's zeal she began to dance flapping her wings in.."tune" with the song she was belting out, closing her eyes and grooving to the music that perhaps only she could understand. Misjudging a step or two the tiny female practically flung herself from her nest and was now plummeting to the earth.

Her eyes flew open and her singing abruptly stopped as she tried to correct herself by flapping her wings. She managed to slow her speed to the jungle floor, and land on a very soft patch of earth.

Looking around in bewilderment the little blue and black bird patted the soft fluffy earth with her wings..and then realization struck she was sitting on a lion! "Oh no!" She squealed in dismay and hopped to her feet.

His reaction time was slow when through the light suddenly came a flailing, almost colorful feathery creature. He jumped, but did not move out of the way in time. Instead, he tensed and his eyes squeezed shut. He wasn't sure what happened but it didn't sound good before and now it didn't look good. He might have guessed the bird had died and fallen on him, but he felt it move- and then cry out.

"What!" he exclaimed, opening his eyes and turning his neck to see the little creature now standing on him, "Are you OK?"

She froze in terror as the lion spoke, "I..I'm sorry," she managed to squeal out. By speaking broke the spell her feet felt like they were under a wicked spell and she stepped off of his back fluttering to the floor.

"I was.." humiliation was not something Sedna often if ever felt, but she was feeling slightly embarrassed, "I was greeting the day, that is all and in my excitement fell. I..I'm just fine, very lucky you were here."

Please, let me be lucky, please..don't eat me.

Nusu was not so concerned with the fact that the bird had fallen on him, had possibly interrupted him.. that she could be food never even crossed his mind. If anything, he had been the one who was rudely interrupting her!

"No, no," he said, smiling sheepishly, "I'm sorry for interrupting you. I didn't know what the sound was, I was only curious." He couldn't help but notice that she had bright colors on her front, though she also had black over her. Did the same color rules apply to all species? He couldn't remember at the moment. Either way, she was quite pretty!

The bird had spent quite a bit of time in these trees and had noticed the culture below her had a fixation on color, much like some types of bird did. She was not the type of bird to mind herself with coloration or type if they opened their wings to her she opened her wings to them. From her watching males generally stuck with males, and females to females, she did not know exactly why, but coloration seemed to be the culprit.

hopping along front to get a better look at the lad she bobbed her head in gratitude, "Thank you for the soft landing. You did not interrupt my singing."

"I am Sedna, Good Morning, Sunshine," she saw his shoulder marking as a symbol for the sun.

Nusu smiled when she thanked him and assured he did not interrupt her singing, he did not want to be a trouble to anybody- but especially girls, of any species while he wasn't sure on the specifics of how broadly applicable their own religion was.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sedna!" he replied politely, "I'm Nusurika, a parastar in the pride here. Is- is your family around here too?"
