User Image

Eyes glazed over, the Helix marched on, paws somehow keeping their footing on ground that couldn't be seen. A milky-white haze hid the fact that Halona's eyes were locked on something straight in front of her that no one else could possibly see.

Twin moons.

One dark, one bright.

The shapes shifted and changed, one sometimes overtaking the other...only to drift away and then be overtaken.

The images continued in a similar manner for some time before Halona's eyes cleared, bright gold once more and focused on her immediate surroundings. She paused, frowning and glancing about to see where she'd ended up this time. A forest, it seemed, and it looked like neutral territory. She sniffed the air and thought she could sense water nearby; probably a small stream. Well, she could have ended up somewhere much worse this time, so that much was a relief.

At least, by cursory glance, she seemed to be alone.

However, the vision troubled her. It was vague, unclear unlike most of her visions regarding other Helixes. Those at least she could understand enough to know to avoid those others...what in the world did this one mean, with the twin moons...?

Emilie(pup cert.)
A silver helix lay on the ground under the tree closest to a stream. She seemed to be thinking about something. She was staring at the water ahead of her. Her ears were alert listening for something but the land around her seemed to be quiet and there were no fish swimming around in the river.
Then she heard a splashing sound coming down the river. She looked towards it and there was her sister being as loud as ever.
She sighed Freiheit could never be quiet. She groaned when her sister shook her wet fur on Her.

When her sister quieted and walked past her Emilie sniffed the air. Suddenly she smelled the helix too but it had a different tinge to it. She followed her sister stopping next to her and looking out at the Helix.

Freiheit(pup cert)
Freiheit giggled as she bounced down the stream. She had started first by chasing the fish but they were long ahead of her now. She was just bouncing around for fun. She spotted her sister, Emilie laying next to a tree. Freiheit pretended to slip and rolled around in the water. When she stood up she bounded over to her sister and shook her wet fur.
Freiheit looked up suddenly alert. she smelled another helix coming this way. She snuck past her sister quietly and into the trees. She stopped and hid in a bush when she saw the Helix with golden eyes. She seemed to be wearing a troubled look.

Normally, Halona was very careful, to the point of being paranoid. However, she slipped up from time to time. Apparently, she was due. She was so wrapped up in her anxious thoughts, she never even noticed the scent of the two pups on the wind.

By the time she did, she was nearly on top of them. The scent hovered in her nostrils and she froze in a panic. Helixes! How had she not noticed...? What should she do?

She danced from paw to paw, eyes wide and darting about in search of the others. Where were they? She was panicking too much to pinpoint them. Instead, she started backing up, glancing back into the relative safety of the forest. If she could get far enough away, she could make a run for it....

Emilie walked out of the bushes and looked at the Helix "what's wrong? We didn't do anything bad did we?" She asked tilting her head a little. She twitched her tail signaling Freiheit to come out of her hiding. She looked at the Helix "We are sorry for startling you. Why are you so fearful?" Emilie asked her sister still not coming out of the bushes

"One second," She said disappearing into the bushes. She returned after pushing her sister out of the bushes.

Freiheit fell out of the bushes after being pushed by her sister. She stuck her tongue out at Emilie. "Hello," Freiheit said to the helix in front of her.

Halona froze, then blinked at the two pups. They hadn't noticed anything? Good. And if they were only pups, perhaps they wouldn't have. Still, no need to risk things by sticking around and being social.

'Err...no, I just...thought I was alone,' she answered awkwardly, her own voice sounding strange to her after so little use lately. No more than if she chose to talk to herself to relieve the boredom anyway...though she did that little, as it only made her seem more unstable to any that might overhear her.

'I didn't know anyone else was out here. I err...didn't mean to bother you. I'll leave you alone now.' She nodded slightly, still backing away slowly.

...wait a moment...those markings...on their foreheads....

...twin moons.

Was this what her vision had been warning her about? Pups? That...didn't make much since. Normally she had visions of Helixes to know to avoid them...but strange symbols and hidden meanings meant little to her really. So what was it all supposed to mean?

She didn't realize that she'd been staring at the pups in silence for some moments, her head tilted in curiosity.

Emilie looked at the helix and noticed a strange look that disappeared in a couple of seconds.
"Oh I see, so you are not used to speaking or meeting others?" She asked noting how what she said sounded a little awkward. She took a step forward.
"I'm Emilie," She said smiling and trying to sound nice because she saw the helix retreating a little.
Emilie looked at The helix weird when she stopped and stared at them. It was as if she was curious about something. "Um do you need something?" she asked.

Freiheit isn't as good at noticing miniscual things and looks as Emilie was but didn't want to be outdone. She looked at her sister a little bit of jealousy in her eyes when she realized that Emilie.
"And I'm Freiheit," She said pausing then smiling like Emilie was.
Freiheit sat down when she noticed the odd Helix staring at them.

Halona blinked again, shaking her head. 'Err...no, I don't need anything. I mean...I...don't know you, do I? Of course I don't,' she answered herself, still a bit puzzled about the whole matter at the moment. How had she known those symbols on their heads before meeting them? Did this mean she should have avoided them, like other Helixes?

...or could it possibly mean the opposite?

The ridiculous thought hovered in her mind, no matter how she tried to dispel it. Still...what was the harm in talking to a couple of pups? Plenty, another part of her mind attempted to chime in, but for once, she seemed to ignore it.

'What interesting names,' she commented, feeling awkward and unsure of what she should say. 'Err...I'm Halona.' Was she supposed to talk to these pups for some reason? What point could that have, really?

"Nice to meet you Halona. I have a question. I'm sorry if it seems out of line but," Emilie paused before continuing " You are not a normal Helix are you?" Emilie had noticed that she seemed to recognize something about them, but She hadn't seen Halona anywhere before. Emilie had a friendly tone in her voice.
Freiheit nodded to Halona not seeming to care that she obviously didn't talk much.

Halona froze at the question, stricken by pure panic. She knew? The pup knew something? How could she? Halona couldn't hide anything it seemed, if even a pup could tell that there was something wrong with her. Still...her escape route wasn't clear...maybe she could talk her way out of this one, at least until she could get away...

'W-what? Not...normal? I don't know what you mean...what do you mean by not normal, child?' Her eyes flickered to the side, towards the forest. Could she lose them in the trees? They were only pups...but she'd apparently underestimated them once already.

A worse thought crossed her mind. What if the pups knew older Helixes nearby? If she were discovered, she could have a whole pack after her in no time. The thought sent shivers down her spine and her paws started to tremble.

Emilie noticed how Halona started to panic. Had she asked the wrong question. Emilie started to to look worried. "I....I just meant.... When you saw us you looked kind of panicked... And.... It's not like we would tell any adults if you told us not to," She stuttered.
Freiheit looked from the panicking Halona to her worrying sister. Emilie was always Hypersensitive about other feelings around her.

Hesitating, Halona paused in her retreat, though she kept on her toes, ready to bolt if necessary. She swallowed hard, glancing about once more for signs of any other Helixes. This is why she normally took such care to avoid others. Of course, if she hadn't, she might know more about how to talk to other Helixes without seeming suspicious, but that thought didn't cross her mind at the moment.

'I...I...I mean...it's just...I don't know...' Her composure, what little she had, was slipping and it was only in desperation that she locked on to the pup's last sentence. 'You wouldn't? You promise? No one else?' The desperation was plain in her eyes, darting from one pup to the other.

Still anxious, Halona struggled to regain some control over herself. She might at least calm her speech, even if her heart was still pounding her chest. 'I...I'm sorry, I just...haven't had many good experiences with other Helixes. It normally...just ends badly,' she trailed off, not sure how to explain.

"We haven't really messed with adult Helixes our whole lives. So we don't know any to tell even if we wanted to," Emilie said sincerely. "I know how it feels. Most of my encounters don't end that well either," She said smiling.
Freiheit shifted a little so that she could intercept Halona's path if she tried to run. Freiheit did that merely out of habit than to make Halona think that they wouldn't let her go.

While still anxious, Halona was calming some now. There was little to fear from pups alone, other than them calling adults, and that seemed less likely now. Wait...what was that other pup doing? She blinked, eying the pup curiously with a frown. Circling her? They were surrounding her? Granted, if she wanted to, she could leap over either of them easily enough, but the action still wasn't helping her unease.

Still, they were only pups and from what she could tell, they really were alone. She could smell...and sense...no other Helixes, and the only scents on their pelts were of one another.

'Adult Helixes can be less than accepting of others,' she admitted softly at last, frowning and shaking her head slightly. 'They are usually so set in their ways that anything new can be strange or frightening. They can either react with violence...or fear. I suppose I would fall into the latter category, wouldn't I?' she muttered, trying to fake a smile, while her paws were still obviously fidgety.

"Frei! stop that," Emilie said flashing a glare at her sister "you are scaring our Friend."
"Adults are party poopers. If they had found us we would probably be forced to move," Emilie sighed. "They react differently to everything they see. I think it's fun to watch them from distances. You don't seem like anything to be fearful of though," Emilie said.

"oops, sorry," Freheit said walking back over to her sister's side. She nodded at everything her sister was saying.

Halona seemed to calm a bit more now that both pups were back in her line of sight, and she stopped her fidgeting enough to actually force herself to take a seat on her haunches. She couldn't help a nervous and slightly sad chuckle in response, shaking her head. 'I'm typically too busy being afraid to be very scary, I suppose.'

Still, she allowed herself a half-smile. Here she was...talking to other Helixes. Granted, they were only pups, but still...it was a major step for the anti-social Halona. Maybe there was hope for her yet.
