Walking through the forest, Ren's blue eyes searched for anything edible. Her stomach was growling and wanted something sweet. Her nostrils flared as she took in the scents around her, hopeing to catch the sweet smell of ripe berries.
Walking quite a ways from her home, she finally catches the scent. Her mouth began to salivate as she used her nose to gently move through bushes, finding the red fruit. Her ears flickered as she listened to the birds over head, her eyes keeping watch for danger as she plucks a few berries from their branch.
The sun shone brightly, the rays that were able to make it through the canopy slightly warmed her coat. She was thankful for the break from the cold weather that had been in the area lately.

She had awaken early that morning, she was on the search of her real family, besides her adopted father Minty. Wings folded close to her sides, too frightened to let them fan out within the close spaces of the trees. Stepping over root and stump. Log and rock. Mindy kept a bright blue eye out for anything that was out of the ordinary around her. Stopping suddenly she let her ears do the walking. Something else was out there besides herself, something she was going to find out what.
Walking toward the steps she had heard, now blocked by her own, making Mindy have to stop a few times to see if she were going the right way at all. Breaking the trees she came to sight something bright colored against the dark trees about her. The creature was a bright pink and white color and had.. A flower in their head? Walking closer the lavender colored mare stopped just beyond a few trees watching what now turned into another mare. Tilting her head to one side, she wondered what this one was. It didn't have any wings, but a horn? Curious... But she wasn't about to jump out to make herself know... Yet.

Oblivious to the purple mare nearby, she continued plucking berries, filling her cheeks before she chewed just like she did when she was a foal. As the wind blew, her ears followed sounds of leaves and plants dancing against one another.
Suddenly, she stopped and froze. With the scent of the berries, there was also a scent of a stranger. Like her mother, the thought of danger didn't cross her mind at first. First, was curiousity.
After clearing her mouth, licking the juice from her lips, Ren lifted her head to look around. Through the branches in the distance she caught glimpses of purple. She could make out that it was another soquili, but she couldn't tell the breed or gender. Her ears faced forward in an alert position as she readied herself to greet the stranger.
"Hello there!" She called out in a friendly voice.

Ears perching atop her head, Mindy jumped suddenly to the side and behind a couple of trees. Eyes pulled closed, the voice that came her direction sounded friendly, but the horn on the mare's head looked dangerous. Shaking her head, her bristly mane rippling as she did, Mindy didn't know if she wanted to answer let alone leave her hiding place. She could do this, she could confront this stranger, she was in neutral terms at least, she hadn't done anything wrong... Yet...
Stepping out of her hiding place, wings shuffling a little on her back, Mindy looked toward the horned mare warily. She passed through the trees and more into the open, giving a small smile, trying not to reveal her little 'secret'.
"Hello." she greeted, voice a little shaky. "Nice day... Ain't it?" Mindy tilted her head some before letting her gaze flick toward the skies over head, wings shuffling again, but never opening.

She watched as the puple soquili seemed to all but disappear when she greated it. Her head tilted, unsure of what to think of the stranger's actions. Once the stranger started to move again, Ren's head lifted and her smile broadened a bit.
"Yes. Yes it is." She bobbed her head in reply then lowered her head in greetings like her mother had taught her to do. She looked over the female, she was winged. Her mother had told her of the other breeds, but she had yet to see a soquili with wings, she was amazed.
"They're beautiful," she refered to Mindy's wings. It was much too early to ask, but she was so curious, she wanted to touch the feathers to see if they were really feathers.

Mindy was somewhat glad that things weren't exactly pointed toward her. Turning her gaze toward the uni mare tilting her head a little. The comment she had given puzzled her as to what she was talking about. Beautiful? Turning her head she glanced at her wings that she fanned out just a little at her sides. Were these what she was speaking of? Folding them once again, she held then quite tightly to her sides.
"Thanks... I get them from my father's side of the family I think... I don't exactly know who my real father is." She gave a shrug "By you have a pretty... Horn. I think that's what it's called. My other father told me about Unicorns, but you are the first I have ever seen."
Tilting her head a little, the corners pulled back in a small smile. She still feared the fangs would frighten everyone away. She didn't want to have others think she was evil, she wasn't at all, but still... She didn't want to let it slip. Ears twisting back a little, she shook her head trying to scare away from her own thoughts.

Ren beamed at the compliment. "Thank you. I got it from my mother," she replied. "And I guess we're in the same boat, I've never seen a soquili with wings, though my mother has told me about your breed."
She took a few careful steps towards the mare, not wanting to intrude into her personal space. "What is it like...to be able to fly?" Her curiousity got the better of her sometimes, but she wanted to know. She loved hearing the stories of other soquili, especially those that had other talents than she did.
Catching Mindy's small smile, she returned the gesture. She hadn't seen Mindy's secret, though it would have only been another trait for her to be curious of.
"I bet you feel so free up there, yes?" Her ears swiveled as she waited for an answer.

Mindy kept her place an tilted her head a little, somewhat surprised that this one hadn't met any of her kind either. Well, she guessed it wasn't all that strange she supposed. Shaking her head a little she frowned some when the other mentioned flying. She hadn't gained that ability, even with the wings that framed her back.
"Sorry, I don't know what it feels like to fly." She sighed droping he gaze to the ground. "My other father I have to let the wind into her heart and then I can fly. I just don't really know what he means by it." Shrugging lightly she turned her gaze away this time, ashamed that she couldn't do what her kind were meant to do.
Mindy was grateful that her other secret was still hidden. The fangs weren't her favorite part of her entire being. It was a disgrace to what she was if someone asked her. In some ways she wondered why they came to her instead of her siblings. It really confused her, but then again, a lot ot things did...

Ren nodded her head, she completely understood what the mare meant. Even though she had the horn and was a unicorn, she had yet to learn how to use her healing abilities that her mother said they possessed.
She saw the mare look away, as if ashamed of her answer. Ren tried to comfort her, "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll learn our abilities eventually. I can't heal...and I'm supposed to know how to." her head bobbed and her smile broadened. "Can't be born knowing how to do everything!" she remarked.
Ren's mother was well traveled and very knowledgeable, but when it came to learning of one's abilities, she believed it was best that one should learn on their own. Ren has asked many times for her mother to show her, and each time, her mother had replied that in time, she would learn her own style and ability.
Suddenly she realized that she hadn't introduced herself. Her mother would be disappointed in such rudeness. "I'm Mi Ren Ko, by the way." she offered in late greeting.

Mindy looked back toward the mare, tilting her head at the mention that they hadn't learned what they were supposed to beable to do. Well, that was something, she thought that all Unicorns were taught to heal when they were little like hers were taught to fly at a young age... Though in her case, she went the other way with her lessons. Instead of up, she went down, quite the humiliating things if someone saw it.
"Really? I thought like myself, all were taught their abilities at a young age." she voiced openly, though was maybe kinda rude. "Though Minty says I will learn when I am able to let the wind into my heart."
Still that puzzled her even if it were told to her months ago when she was much younger and just meeting Minty, her adopted father. Eyes closing a moment she vaguely caught the other mentioning a name. A bit of color came to even her own face, she hadn't mentioned her own name come to think of it. Speaking to a stranger without even introducing herself right off from the start.
"Mindy," She stammered out. "My name's Mindy. It's nice to meet you Mi Ren Ko." She smiled again, the tips of her fangs starting to peek out from under her lips in the process.

"Lovely name!" she exclaimed. It was much easier to prnounce than her own. For a split moment while she watched the mare, she thought she caught a glimpse of fangs. They weren't prominent enough for her to see, and she dare not ask in case she were wrong.
"Let the wind into your heart?" her head tilted, it sounded like something her mother would say. She paused for a moment, pondering on what her mother would mean if she had said it.
"Perhaps," she curled the side of her lip into a thoughtful pose, "Perhaps it means you can't be intimidated by it?" her head tilted to the other side, she wondered if that had made sense to Mindy.
"You know..." she tried to think of another way to say it, "Accept that it's who you are...and not be afraid of the fall. We all stumble at some point." Ren could very well remember her days as a foal, running and falling on her fresh legs. Her mouth and eyes being filled with dirt and plant life.

Mindy closed her mouth again before turning her gaze upwards at the words Mi Ren Ko had spoken. Perhaps, but she was still well content on walking the grounds with her own four hooves then being in the air by the fragile wings at her sides. Really, she didn't know 'how' they could keep her aloft. They didn't seem that strong and all.
"Perhaps, but there are still things I doubt would allow me into the skies." She gazed back at her wings as they unfolding some and drooped at her sides. "These don't even feel strong enough to even lift me off the ground."
She was still puzzled over it, she has seen her adopted father glide using his own wings and take to the air, but she didn't think she could. Really, he must have been lighter then she was or something, stomping a hoof a little she folded the feathered wings back to her sides not really wanting to look at them again. For now at the very least.

"I'm sure they will be," her voice cheerful and friendly. "Perhaps you could try gliding?" she remembered seeing some hills that weren't too high, but there would be enough clearance to catch wind. Ren thought of ways to help this mare feel better.
She was begining to think that Mindy was more frightened of trying to fly than she was anxious to learn. Ren just continued to smile, she had no right to judge another.
Her eyes scanned the surrounding area, her stomach wasn't quite as full as she had hoped by now. "Any way," She paused. "I was having my morning snack, would you like some berries?" she looked back to the berry bush she had been plucking from. She was trying to politely change the subject as she began to feel that flying might be a touchy subject for Mindy.
