Hurry up and wait.

That is a common thing for Enzo to go through as he sat in his classroom. He wasn't an impatient man and this was a good thing. Today he had a game with him to keep him occupied; in fact it was one of those handheld video game systems that they pandered out for the young adults and children. This was Enzo's first real inter-action with them and he was getting just a little hooked on it.

Light playful music played and small sounds of his sprite hoping from platform-to-platform could be heard.

Mareike hurried through the halls of the facility, not becuase she was late but becuase she wanted to avoid being sidetracked by spotting Vampy or Pepper. Both males tended to make the wrath girl's life more hectic than it needed to be, although Pepper was usually forgiven for his transgressions.

The maroon skinned girl knocked hesitantly on the door to the classroom she'd been sent to. This was her first class of this sort and her first lesson at the facility that wasn't with Rachel, it was enough to make Mareike ruffle her feathers and lose a bit of the normal self confidence she walked around with.

He startled a little bit sheepishly as he heard knock from outside of the world of video games and suddenly the Game Over tune played as he missed a platform due to being startled suddenly. Enzo blinked as he looked first from the door and then to his lost game and gave a small laugh.

Oops.

The ex-priest hastily put it away and stood up moving toward the door to open it and allow the new student into his room, "Hey there! Come in, come in. Make yourself comfortable."

Mareike smiled at her teacher as she walked into the classroom and found herself a seat. the thistle haired girl calmed a little although all there of her eyes focused unwaveringly on the man before her. " So um what is this class for?"

He closed the door after her and nodded as he folded his hands in front of himself. When asked about what the class was for he simply smiled, "This class is to help teach you how to use the power inherent in your spirit. Here you will pick up some of your first magic skills. I am sure you will pick up the skills I have to teach you quickly." Enzo said with a small nod as he spoke in a sincere tone.

A magic class eh?, That didn't sound so bad, although Mareike had long since become far less interested in it than she had been as a younger child. Still if she had magic skills inside her she might as well learn to use them. " I try to be a quick study" and the girl usually was, well with physical things anyways. Magic might be harder for the maroon skinned girl since things involving complex mental processes were much harder for her to master and magic always looked like you had to think about it a lot

Enzo smiled brightly and nodded, "You seem like a very bright lass indeed, I am sure we will have no problems once we establish a 'home' for you in the world of magic. Now tell me what element do you most feel akin to? The passionate flame? The cool breeze perhaps? How about the firm earth? Mayhap the refreshing waters?" He queried, this was obviously a precursor to her skills.

"There is no wrong answer." The ex-priest said softly.

Mareike thought about this for a moment, she got hot a lot, saw red and raged, that was certainly fire like. Then again she was also pretty sturdy like the ground. She wasn't too certain about the air, she was fast like wind, did that count? What about water, nah that didn't make too much sense except the sea could be be unpredictable of discovery channel shows just like she was, still...

" Earth I think" Really Mareike thought it best suited her, she was strong and firm in her opinions and stable and dedicated and somehow that seemed to worth best with earth for her.

Enzo nodded thoughtfully, "The Earth can do much for you. You can draw power directly from it and it can help you harden your fists and strengthen your resolve. It seems a good choice for you." He commented cheerfully. "Of course if you are not in contact with your element your abilities will suffer, are you sure you wish to commit yourself knowing all of this?"

Mareike nodded, she liked fire too but it didn't feel right, it was only her rage it wasn't really all of who she was like Earth. " I'm good"

"Alright then, madam, repeat after me: Guardians of the Earth, I sign myself over to you." Enzo intoned to Mareike. "This in no way will limit your ability to learn other elements later on, but it will make the spirits aware of your primary choice, which will always be most powerful."

It seemed a bit cheesy but it was the way Enzo learned.

"You may feel a bit of a tingle as you say this."

Mareike did not particularly like the thought of signing herself over to anyone, especially a magic force she couldn't see. Still, it would be wrong to back out of the class now and it obviously hadn't hurt her teacher or the other students any or they wouldn't still teach this.

"Guardians of the Earth, I sign myself over to you."

There was an odd feeling that ran over the girl almost like the one she got before goosebumps appeared but it wasn't too bad. Still Mareike was a bit wary now, uncertain as to just where this was going.

Enzo gave a nod after that particular little ritual was over, though he had noted her moment of hesitance and smiled as he spoke to her, "You do not belong to the element as much as you two have agreed to work together, though the wording may seem as if you are 'belonging' to something. It just means you are more like bonded as if in a family. The Earth and the spirits related to it now see you as kin."

He pondered a moment, "Now, for beginners we'll go over the physical aspects of this element of magic since that seems like it would suit you more." Enzo motioned for her to follow him as he began to move toward the door.

Mareike nodded and followed her teacher " Sounds good." Family was a concept Mareike would work with, she didn't live with any other facility children cept Taylor but she consider several of them kin becuase they shared the same blood from one parent or another. To be tied in a way to the spirits of the earth in that sense was acceptable.

Enzo soon lead Mareike to a small area outside. It was a bit of a walk but the ground was covered in nice firm earth and nearby was a rather large boulder with some dents in it seemingly made from ... Hands?!

"You will learn how to make a dent in a boulder. I think that will be a good way to start you off. You must show the earth that you are as unyielding as it is. Though you may want to practice first on the dummies near by," he gestured toward a set of humanoid straw-filled figures. "It won't do anyone good if you got hurt. To access the physical and magical aspect of the earth element your feet must be firmly planted on the ground before you strike, that way the power can move through you more efficiently. Go on and give it a try."
