Zuberi was spending a wonderfully relaxing afternoon off of the pack lands. He enjoyed getting sometime away from the others. Zuberi did love the others around the lands. He was found of all the other dogs, especially his 7 younger siblings.

Zuberi was lounging in the sun, he rolled over onto his back and stretched. What a great afternoon, Zuberi thought to himself. When Zuberi flipped back over to his stomach something caught his eye, it was another creature. One he had never seen before. Now that he thought about it Zuberi had never seen anything other then a dog before.

With his curiosity triggered Zuberi tried to position himself to get a better look at this creature. What was it... was it a girl was it a boy.... was it friendly? So much to figure out, so much to understand. Zuberi moved closer to the other animal, he was unsure of whether or not he should approach her.

Casaezel was away from her mentor this day, choosing to poke at a relatively large ant mound she'd discovered earlier in the morning. Little black shapes swarmed wherever she stuck her paw in and she'd even gotten stung once or twice - quite a lot of fun! She'd bound away from the rush of ants and wait until they'd gone back into their hole then poke at it again, wondering how so many worked so efficiently. Her mentor had said as much, but she hadn't been able to believe droves and droves of anything could gather so quickly.

In between one of her poking sessions, she paused and looked up as the scent of another tickled her nose. What...? A wild dog? Frowning, the little lioness turned her head to look in the general direction from which the wind was blowing. Where was it? Quirking her lips Cas spoke, clearly unimpressed, "I know you're there. Stop lurking."

"Uh hi" Zuberi sent tentatively. He was made nervous but this.... this creature... he still wasn't sure what this being was. "I didn't mean to bother you, I just didn't realize I wasn't the only one out here." He was wondering why she seemed so hostile towards him.

"What are you doing to that aunt hill. he asked. He wanted to ask what are you... but he wasn't sure how to ask that question with out coming across as rude. Was it rude to ask others what they were.... this was an awkward situation. For one of the first times ever Zuberi wasn't sure of himself, and he had no experience with others like this before so therefore he wasn't able to judge. He was feeling quite uneasy.

"Hmph." Eyeing him for a moment as if appraising the young wild dog, she shrugged and turned back to her game, poking a hole in the ant hill before spinning and running away. "Playing! Isn't it obvious?"

Clambering up onto a nearby fallen log, she shook her head as she watched the wave of ants spill out of the little mound, "They'll eat you if you stay there, you know." She said it in such a serious voice that it was impossible to guess that she was lying - which she was. The most then could do was sting the poor pup, but even so... it would be entertaining to watch his reaction.

Zuberi stood there in shock for a minute, he had never heard of ants that could eat you before, but this animal was older then him, and he wasn't going to stand around questioning it and find out he was wrong by being eaten alive. Wasting no time Zuberi ran shaking his feet in an odd way to shake the ants of of them, and he lept up onto the closet rock to him.

"WHY WOULD YOU BOTHER THEM IF THE COULD EAT YOU!!" Zuberi yelped. He was utterly confused by this creature, completely loosing any sense of manners in the moment of panic Zuberi turned and looked at the creature, "What exactly are you? He was confused by this animal, it clearly wasn't a wild dog!

She laughed and laughed, maintaining her knowledgeable air, "Why? Because it's fun! They get all confused when they can't catch you and then go back into their dens. They drag little wild dogs like you back to their nest, you know. Yummy yummy little snacks for the whole thousand thousand of them~" Settling down to lay on her perch, Cas grinned at him as her tail twitched from side to side.

"What am I?" Oooh, how curious! This ought to be fun. "I... am I lion. Lions rule to the savannah, you know. We're stronger, faster, bigger, better then any of the others. Leopards, cheetahs.... they're similar but they don't work in groups like we do~ We enjoy so much more before of that. And wild dogs - what you are - are the odd ones out. Poor poor wild dog. I feel for you, pup." Rising, she sauntered over to him, stepping on the remaining ants as she did so, and hopped up beside Zuberi, "It's a dangerous place for a wild dog."

Zuberi cowered slightly away from the girl, she wasn't very nice, he kind of regretted approaching her. "I'm not afraid" he stated boldly, despite his physical reaction he hoped that he would be able convince her that he wasn't afraid of her.

"I am not disadvantaged, I live in a pack with lots of dogs, who take care of each other." He subconsciously took another step away from the lion, some what afraid of the ants still but he had noticed she had walked through them no problem.

She'd been looming over him when he spoke, a small smirk playing across her features but then, quite suddenly, she snorted and withdrew. "Yeah, well, it's not that great. A group, I mean. Don't get your hopes up... they'll just leave you behind." Her sour tone deepened as she spoke, remembering how very terrified and lost she'd been when she'd been separated from her family as a cub.

A stranger had come by, drawn by her pathetic mewling and taken her in.... though it was more they were a source of food and protection then any sort of familial warmth. Grumbling, the lioness glared at the pup, "They'll only take care of you for so long. And then forget you."

Zuberi listened to her talk, he could hear the tone of her voice change from mean to something different. "I think maybe it is different when you are in a big pack like me.... there is more than just parents there to care for you. Not that I have a dad only a mom." Zuberi wasn't sure why he told her his one weakness the fact that he didn't have a father was often a sore spot with him. He was half hoping that if he let her in she would be a little more friendly with him, perhaps they could even become friends.

He looked up at her again, "Perhaps you should find a pack to live in. In my pack the adults all take care of each other by doing the jobs they are good at, and parents who have pups back home know that when they leave their babies are taken care of." Zuberi felt very fond of his pack, and he always that that everyone would be happier in a group situation like his.

She scoffed, eyes narrowing as she watched him, "I don't have parents. None. No one. Nothing. Got it? Just some wandering rogue stranger that takes me along. Doesn't even care if I wander off." In a strange way, it was her method of saying 'lucky you'.

She shook her head vigorously at the suggestion of a pack. "No. Not a chance. I won't be dropped again. I can survive on my own. Don't need weaklings pretending to care about me." Her tail lashed behind her at the thought. What a ridiculous comment. Join a pack? And what? Play house? Do someone else's job? Get ignored? Feh. Not likely.

Zuberi looked at the lion, he wasn't sure what to do or say. He had never been in a situation where he hadn't made fast friends with whoever he talked to. Was it perhaps just the way lions were.... were no lions friendly? She he avoid them at all costs. He had a lot of thoughts running through his young mind.

"Uh well I guess pack life isn't for everyone." he managed to half mumble. He was frightened to say anything else to this lion, although in his heart he still wanted to befriend her, he was a just friendly kid, or naive depending on who you asked.

He thought carefully before he talked to her again, he wanted to say something to her that would make her want to stay and talk to him more..... but he was totally unsure of what that something might be. He finally decided that admitting he was lucky in some ways, but possibly point out the benefits of her life to her at the same time, "Well I guess I never thought of myself as lucky for only having a mom, I never really thought of the possibility of not having either parent, its just around the pack most pups have both their parents, and I am the weird one. It would have been hard to grow up with out anyone." he said sympathetically... although he wasn't sure how she would respond to sympathy.

"But I guess having no one does have its perks, I mean when I want to get away from everyone for awhile not online do I have to dodge my mom, and ALL of my siblings, but a whole pack of dogs who are trying to look out for me." he smiled timidly, he wasn't sure if this was the right method, it could go either way.... either she would open up..... or bite his head off.... he was really hoping for the first choice.

"You are the weird one." She snipped, tossing her head, "You're a wild dog. You'll always be strange." Harumphing, she shrugged before squaring her shoulders, "Hard? Maybe for you. You already said you live in a pack, how would you know what it's like by yourself?"

Casaezel arched a brow at the clumsy compliments and laughed mockingly, "That's why you say no stupid dog. Or leave me alone. It works quite well. Maybe if you walked a day in another's paws you'd see that. But alas, you can't." She sneered, his comments having stung her more then helped her and she turned away from Zuberi.

"Run along now, little one, before I get the real flesh eating ants and set them on you." As she spoke, the summoning roar of a distant lion called her away, "I have to go."

Bouncing down onto the ground, she flicked her tail and offered a smile, "Bye!"

Zuberi was left standing alone as Caseazel made her departure. He was utterly confused by her. He wasn't sure if all lions were like this or if it was just this one. Either way she hadn't been very nice and obviously she just didn't want friends or she would have wanted to be Zuberi's friend.

He decided she was just into pitying herself, and if she actually did make a friend then she would lose one of the biggest things she had to feel bad about. He hoped that one day she would meet someone that would make her happy.

He huffed and turned away as she disappeared into the horizon, he walked back towards the pack. He decided that he would have more fun back there anyways.
