rawr. psychologists are there to help at a moderate fee. They aren't evil, hey don't play with people's heads for fun. They aren't going to tell you you're in love with your mother, maybe unless you do. there are even certain limitations as to how involved a psychologist can get to a patient. Their are boundries and that is to prevent the patient from depending on the psychologist or even entangling them in some role that they don't fit. A psychologist is not your best friend, not your mother, not your father, not your lover, so don't expect them to be.
Yes they care for each of their patients and want nothing but the best for them, that's why they choose to do this, psychology is not a profession that you can just fall into, they are there because they want to.
Lastly, they do not and should not tell you what to do, they are not going to run your lives. If that's what you want then look into a life couch.

I've never been a fan of psychologists. But that's because I rarely seek help with my personal problems. Figure I should be able to solve my own problems.

I'm not trying to be on either side but some psychologist are good at there job and some are not and they do what they are not suppose to by getting to involved with some of their patients and some times they do try to get to into your life by telling you what you should do when I was younger about 11-14 my parents made me see several psychologist because they thought something was wrong with me just because I was going through the whole teenage angst thing a little earlier the psychologist I saw was horrible they basically tried to control me and blamed everything at home on me but I have not let them cloud my judgement of all psychologist besides, because I went through the whole teenage angst thing that early I matured faster, now I'm more responsible than any one in my family and more trust worthy, respectful ^^ HA HA to them 3nodding everyone around me says I have really grown up and have improved myself and prevented myself to not be like my family. I am now going to college to be an anesthesiologist and saving up to move up North and start my own life. ^^
