Casia had her head bent studiously over a book as she sat outside in the golden sunlight. Jane turned out to also have a crazy-huge collection of books along with all her records. The word obsessed guardian might have been boring, but at least the stuff in her house was a gas. The siren was amazed at how many things the postal worker had managed to squirrel away in her tiny home, it seemed like the longer she stayed there, the more she found. Books and records, words, words, words. The house was stuffed full of them, and Jane hardly ever got rid of any.
The book she was checking right now wasn't as fab as it could have been, she decided. Smiling as she remembered a different story from a different time, Casia looked up from her reading. This story needed something. Titania? Oberon? Maybe. But one thing was for certain. "Needs more Beatles." she said wryly.

Nataya, for the first time since gaining her new siblings, had found herself free of babysitting. As much as she loved her younger siblings, it was nice to have some time to herself. She was rather thankful for the influx of warm temperatures that had hit; being able to walk about outside without her wings freezing was pure bliss. Her wings stretched out, fluttering a bit as they soaked up the warmth from the sun's rays
She blinked as she saw a rather-familiar looking girl, snapping back to reality from her thoughts. It took a moment for the name to match the face. She hadn't seen the girl since she was a baby, so it was understandable. "Hello, Casia!" she said, offering a bright smile that was almost as warm as the sunshine itself. "Long time, no see!"

Casia jolted, looking up at the unfamiliar voice calling her name. Searching for a moment, her eyes widened as she saw the fairy figure, because though she was bigger, she was unmistakable. Feeling kind of trippy at the sight of the fairy right after she had thought about their biggest adventure, she asked "Nataya?"
But it had to be! She gave the fairy a tentative smile. "Yeah, long, long, long." She paused. She was glad to see Nataya, of course she was, but it felt so strange. The last time she had seen her, everything had been different, even her parent. Finally, she asked "How've you been, cool cat?"

Nataya smiled, nodding once to confirm her identity. She was definitely glad that her friend had recognized her; it might have been a bit awkward if she hadn't. She made her way over to the girl, taking a seat next to her on the grass.
"I've been alright. I've gotten a few new siblings, grew a bit." she responsed, giving a quick, minimal summary of what had happened lately. "How have you been? I haven't seen you in forever!" She smilled slightly, happy to be talking the siren girl. While it was true that a lot of things had changed from the last time the two had met, one thing was still apparent: Nataya was still the same bright cheerful girl she'd always been. Though, she did noticed that Casia seemed to have changed a bit since the last time she'd seen her...

Casia, perennially single child, blinked. "Siblings? Sounds kind of like a drag." According to what she'd heard about them, siblings were just okay. "I've been groovy." she replied, stretching the truth a bit. She had been groovy all that time she was with Anna, so that was most of the time since the last time she saw Nataya. Really it wasn't lying at all, she told herself. "I've been practicing singing and stuff." Also true. "And I've gotten a little taller too."
It felt good to talk to Nataya again though, if only to remember the past. The fairy had hardly changed and it made the siren relieved and peculiarly homesick for a time rather than a place. "I'm glad to see you, though." she said sincerely.

Nataya smiled lightly. "Not really; they're actually pretty fun. Never a dull moment at our house." she said, chuckling. Of course, that was looking on the bright side of things, ignoring the tantrums and occasional arguments. "You're lucky; I'm not very good when it comes to the musical department." As much as she loved listening to music, she just couldn't seem to produce it.
"I'm glad to see you too, Casia." Nataya said, smiling lightly. "I missed you." It was true; it seemed like ages since the last time the two had encountered each other. She'd started to think that the siren had moved away or something.

Casia thought of the quiet afternoons in Jane's house, sitting alone and watching musicals over and over again. "Yeah." she said slowly. "I guess it would be sort of groovy!" Kind of like having permanent friends.
Her ego gave a little flutter, if Casia loved anything it was praise. Her wings gave a flutter and she smiled briefly. "Oh come on, you're rad at other stuff. Like..." She hadn't seen her in a while and she paused, thinking rapidly. "Like storytelling. That was a blast. You're..." She frowned, trying to think of a properly fab phrase to describe her fairy friend. "You're full of creative vibes." Sounded good enough. She leaned back in the grass, closing her eyes and letting the sun wash over her. It was weird how warm it was, unseasonably warm, like the weather had cleared up just for the two old friends. "What kind of stuff've you been studying?" she asked.

Nataya smiled slightly, understanding her friends pauses. After all, memory did tend to go with time, and there had been one big change since they'd last talked: school. "I've been studying art and literature." she said, nodding once. "I'm taking music, too, though I haven't made much progress. That won't stop me from trying, though." She chuckled, resting her chin on her knees as she let her wings soak up more of the suns warmth, her eyes staring at the limp, winter-dried grass.
"I've also been practicing my flying." she said, grinning. "I'm not very good yet, but I'm sure I'll get better at it." She then smiled thoughtfully, thinking back to the story they'd created with Antony. "We should totally write that down." she murmured, not really realizing that she was speaking out loud.

Casia's eyes widened and she scrambled to sit up properly. "Art, like painting and stuff?" Anna had been an artist, and she had always made sure Casia was jazzed to draw too. Casia's artwork had turned out to be less than cherry, but she had always wished she could. She felt a stab of envy, how good at art was Nataya? "That's so neat." she exclaimed. "You make art? What's it like? Can you show me?" She fished around in her pockets for a notepad and a pencil, things she had been carrying around after meeting Devakanya.
She stopped after Nataya mentioned flying. She had been trying to fly before Anna left, but though she wanted to fly at Jane's house, she just couldn't bring herself to. It was hard to get airborne when you were weighed down with doubts. Instead of saying it though, she nodded assuredly to Nataya. "You can do it."
A flash of fear, brief as a dragonfly hovering came into her eyes. Write what down? She reviewed the conversation. Had she done something wrong?
Oh. Right. There was only one thing Nataya could mean and she pushed the smile hovering tentatively in her head onto her face, nodding rapidly. "Yeah, we could read it to the little kids. They could add stuff on, even." It sounded fab, and her smile grew wider. "It'd be golden."

"Yeah...but I'm just now learning to paint and stuff." she said, smiling over at the other girl. As far as she was concerned, her drawings looked far better before she tried to paint them. So many pretty sketches had met their demise thanks to paint. "Um, yeah. I draw mostly. And of course." She took the offered supplies, starting to doodle a picture of Casia as they talked.
"Thanks." She said, smiling lightly as the reassurance. To her, it was easy to stay there, soaring through the breeze without even the slightest bit of worry...it was the coming back down to earth that gave her problems.
The momentary look of fear wasn't left unnoticed. She blinked, wondering what she'd said wrong. Though, as soon as it had a appeared, the look disappeared. She then smiled a bit, nodding. "That would be awesome...like a smorgasbord of ideas, all rolled up into one totally cool one!" She nodded her head, imagining it.

Casia's fear was stopped. She could probably trust Nataya, she had known her for a long time even if she hadn't seen her for a while. She forced her siren thoughts back into their closet. "And the moral could be that the Beatles are better than Elvis." said Casia smugly, because some people apparently needed reminding. "Or I guess it depends on where the story goes." she conceded reluctantly. "But they could sing along!" Casia's approach to her favourite band was sort of like other peoples' approach to brainwashing; Best to start kids on them young.
She peered at Nataya's activity with interest, fidgeting. The siren was amazed at how artists could make things appear like magic, but she wasn't great at waiting for it to happen.

Nataya giggled at the suggested theme. "Beatles are better." she agreed, nodding. From what she'd heard from both musical artists, the Beatles definitely had a smoother, much more pleasing sound. Elvis was too bold for her tastes. "We could try out the sing along parts on my younger siblings. I'm sure they wouldn't mind." She said, thinking out loud. What better guinea pigs then the twins?
The sketch was coming along fairly well. It's wasn't a "Mona Lisa" or anything, but it wasn't bad either.

Casia looked pleased that Nataya agreed with her, a sunny smile flashing across her face. Everyone liked the Beatles, after all.
The suggestion made sense to her. Siblings were sounding more and more boss to her after all. Who knew they were so useful? "Sounds groovy!" she affirmed. "Are they around right now?" The siren was eager to get started. She had needed a project to do, at Jane's house she was usually left to her own devices. She needed something to focus on, something to stop her from going zappy with boredom and the depressing thoughts that seemed to surface in her head more often recently. "And we can illustrate it, too, maybe." she added thoughtfully. "Or we can make puppets?" The more they talked about it, the more the siren found she had choice ideas she couldn't wait to try. She guessed she had been wanting something to occupy her more than she thought.

Nataya shook her head. "No, they're back at home." she said, offering an apologetic smile. Last time she'd seen them, the twins had talked Momma into yet another round of dress-up, and 'Zuba had been reading on the couch. "I'll bring them next time, though." She said, nodding once. That would work, wouldn't it? She smiled, clapping her hands together as she got an idea. "How about illustrations and puppets? Like a combination?" she suggested. "Like, illustrated backgrounds and puppet characters?"
She finished up the sketch, looking at it for a moment. After a second, it had her approval of being done. "Here!" she said, grinning as she handed the slip of paper back to Casia.

Casia looked disappointed, but briefly. They could find test victims later. They hadn't even planned much out yet, after all. "Awesome." she chirped, looking more forward to meeting the fairy again.
"Yeah, a combo would be rad." Casia decided firmly. It made sense to the siren, if you had two good things, putting them together would have to make a great thing. She stretched back out on the withered grass, pleased with a job well done. "I can make some puppets." She wasn't sure what Titania or Oberon or anything looked like, but she could do the other characters. "We could make them out of socks." She had socks, and so did Jane. Plus sock puppets were reassuringly normal, and considering the general weirdness her life seemed to be more and more full of, the siren clung to normal like a burr on a dog.
Casia reached over for the picture and stared at it. "You made that so quickly? Nataya, that's really boss!"
