Full of life and vigor, Liam swooped down through the night sky, heading for the earth below. As much energy as he had, he was rather hungry for something big and meaty. Like that stag he was diving straight for. It only took him a few thoughts to figure out just how he was going to take down his prey. And it was simply to... tackle it head on. Of course, even through the darkness, the deer was able to sense the danger coming from above so it promptly began to flee. As a result, the yellow gargoyle ended up diving straight into the dirt with a rather loud THUD!"Urg... You have foiled me this time... but I will get you!"

Cyrus, who'd been hiding from his 'family', was resting in the bushes. He'd gotten there long before the deer, and decided to watch it peacefully. He was no hunter. And it would involve 1. putting out effort and 2. getting dirty. Neither of which he wanted apart of.
Then the deer ran off. Looked pretty spooked, too. What could've- THUD.
Before he even got done processing his own question, it was answered in a flurry of dirt and chunks of grass. He stood up and coughed, waiting for the dust to clear before he took any steps forward or back. And when he saw the yellow gargoyle practically eating dirt and shouting at the deer that had long fled, he had to make effort into holding his chuckles in.
"And they say I make bad landings." He mumbled.

For a few seconds longer, Liam lingered on the ground before jumping to his feet and dusting himself off. The landing was rough but... he has had some rougher ones in the past. So he stared off in the direction the deer had bolted away in and pointed.
"I'll get ya one day! You hear me!?"
Then, with a grin, he placed his hands on his hips and looked to the side where he saw a fellow gargoyle standing. Most likely he had seen his rather hard landing and failure at catching the deer but no worries there. He'd find a way to redeem himself on his abilities as a hunter... or a flier for that matter.
"I sure showed that stag whose boss, hm?" he said.

Cyrus stood and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at this gargoyle's... Loud and obnoxious behavior. What was up with him? Did he see that not only had he missed the stag, he missed BADLY?
"If you were in a grass eating contest with the creature, I'd say from that big chunk missing out of where your head landed that you won." He couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Honestly, what's a spear without someone who knows how to throw it? Nothing but a worthless stick."

The grin on Liam's face dropped as the pale Gargoyle replied. Well it seemed that this one was a bit of smart a**. Those were never fun to be around, seeing how they never seemed to be able to appreciate his admirable skills.
"Well even worthless sticks have their purpose!" he said as his grin returned "I mean, especially ones with rather sharp ends!"
That's when he paused a bit. And a look of confusion came about as he spoke up once more.
"But what do spears have to do with any of this? I wasn't trying to spear the stag."

"If it had a purpose, it wouldn't be considered worthless." A simple fact that needed to be pointed out before he continued on.
"My point is, catching a stag isn't as simple as just crashing into it. You have to take into account that they are living creatures. And, as thus, have sight, hearing, and a desire to live just like everyone else. Meaning, they're not going to stand around while you make an air assault." He tried to speak in simple terms, so this simple creature, who probably had less intelligence than the stag, would understand.

Liam crossed his arms somewhat as he heard the other male give a short and simple explanation of what he meant with the whole spear thing. It sounded reasonable enough, but for the most part it just went in one ear and right out the other.
"Heh. But if you're good enough, you could catch the thing no matter how you do it! I might have slipped up a bit this time, but I'm sure to catch that beast next time I give it a shot."
His grin widened some as he puffed his chest out a bit. To an extent, he wasn't just saying things, considering he really believed that he could do it.
"That I can guarantee!"

Wow. Just... Wow.
Cyrus slapped his forehead as he heard the gargoyle speak. "But you're NOT good. and you won't be if you don't learn from your mistakes!" His voice was raising slightly the more he tried to talk to this... This... Moron.
The fact that he was confident he could didn't change anything, either. "Seriously. If you just act on impulse and do the same thing, You'll never get anything.

Still grinning like an idiot, Liam shook his head slowly at the other gargoyle. He could say all he wanted, but the yellow gargoyle was still very certain of himself and that he could do whatever he wanted however he wanted. Such as catch a deer by trying to drop down on it from above.
"So says those who don't have the drive! Really, if you give yourself some time and don't give up... you can do anything. That is my motto."
That said, he nodded his head, before looking off in the direction the deer had run off.

Cyrus was done arguing. Maybe this guy had dropped down from the sky and hit his head a few too many times for his own good. "Okay. I'll tell you what. If you can catch a stag your way by the end of the night, I'll apologize to you. And if you can't, you'll try it my way next time. Deal?"
He held out his hand for the gargoyle to shake. Why was he doing this? Because he had a point to prove. And while being lazy was important, being right was even moreso. It was a guy thing.

There seemed to be a sort of fire in his eyes as he heard the challenge be issued. This was just the sort of thing he needed to prove himself. So, puffing out his chest again, he kept his arms crossed over his chest as he nodded.
"You're on! I'll show you I'll get this down before the sun rises."
Grinning, he stepped forward and firmly grasped the other gargoyle's hand to confirm the deal. Then letting go, he stepped back and started to scramble up one of the trees at the edge of the clearing so that he could get some height to boost him. The winds that night were at least decent, so once he was in the air, he should have no problems getting around.
Once he was at the tree's top, he looked down at the other gargoyle before launching himself to the sky.
Tonight's meal will be extra sweet! I just know it...

Cyrus hid the painful look when the other gargoyle FIRMLY shook his hand, and watched him ascend to the trees. "I'll be right here!" He shouted up as the determined male took off...
"Geez." He glanced at his hand to make sure it wasn't broken then returned to his seat in the bushes. Wonder how long it'd take for the guy to finally give?

By the time the other male had shouted up towards him, Liam was already a good distance away. So he was just faintly able to hear what was said to him, but it didn't matter so much. He was on a mission now; to prove his... skills as an amazing hunter. But in order to do this, he needed to find a stag. If he was lucky it'd be the same one he found earlier.
From where Cyrus remained, he might have been able to hear a faint thud some distance away sometime later.
Then another later on.
And again even later.
.... And once more.

While listening to the random thuds throughout the forest, Cyrus picked up a piece of wood and started to widdle with his claws. And even started whistling.
Just a whistlin' and a widdlin'. Just a whistlin' and a widdlin'.
And while it really didn't become anything, it still kept him occupied enough. A few woodland creatures were around. A raccoon in a tree. Squirrel scampering across the forest floor. An owl off in the distance. And each one would fall silent at the thuds.
Well, Cyrus had to give him credit for having spunk. But that was about it.

As time went on, a few more thuds rang through the area. Dawn was drawing near, and Liam had not returned victorious yet. In fact, it was a little more of the opposite.
There was only about another hour before the sun would rise. And this was when the yellow Gargoyle came back into view. He looked... a bit battered, needless to say. But for some reason, he still had a grin upon his face.
Approaching the pale male, he tossed something furry at his feet.
"Well! I didn't end up getting a stag like I said I would. But... I somehow managed to get this hare by chance in my last attempt."
The hare seemed a bit mangled and crushed... probably from having a gargoyle drop down onto it at a high speed.
