Yay for Semi-Customs! Semi-Customs consists of a Gender, a Scent and three words. That's it. Everything else is left up to my twisted imagination. Kinda scary huh? Yeah, it really is.

The Semi-Custom Contest is not an ordinary contest. This contest is an essay contest (brings back horrible high school memories doesn't it?). This contest will take place March 13th @ 12 AM EST through March 20th @ 12 AM EST.

This may seem utterly ridiculous and retarded but if you think about it logically it serves the same purpose as a prompt. It lets me judge your comprehension of the English language, and your ability to follow directions and be creative.

I expect this essay to be in a real essay format, consisting of at least 5 paragraphs; an introduction, 3 paragraphs consisting of your points, and a conclusion. MLA citation is not required but will grant you awesome bonus points. Research is not required but will also give you awesome bonus points.

The topic of this essay will be: Why I, Olivia Solace (_shouko_), am awesome.

I know it is a difficult topic, and seems like almost a burden to take on but I fully believe in you and your abilities.

On another note I blame Amryx for this topic idea. In the end we agreed it would be utterly amusing to see how you guys would describe me as awesome when I am so utterly fail.

Essay
It's fairly simple to see why Shouko is awesome, and anyone who doesn't see it obviously needs to have their eyes checked. Shouko is an amazing artist who takes time out of her life to draw beautiful babies for those of us who are addicted to breedables. Another reason she is awesome is that she truly cares about her customers and makes an effort to inform them of what is going on with her shop. She's also a fellow breedables addict, which automatically makes her ever cooler. Naturally, those are the things that make Shouko such an awesome person, although there are many more that aren't covered here.

Fact: Shouko's art is amazing and takes a lot of time. Which means that she takes time out of her life to provide those of us who aren't artistically inclined with something we can be proud of. Despite this, she is humble and always seeking to improve her art. She is not someone to openly brag about her art, and this alone makes her quite endearing. Of course, this is only one of the many things that makes Shouko awesome.

For those of us at Solace Scents, it is easy to see that she truly cares about her customers. This alone is reason enough to call her awesome in a world where so many shop owners leave their patrons in the dark when the shop seems to be falling about. Shouko takes an interest in informing us at Solace Scents of what is going on in her life, and why growings and arrivals may be a little late. This is very nice when you are someone who eagerly awaits the arrival of each one of your beloved breedables.

Last, but certainly not least, Shouko is a breedables addict. One look at the customs post on the front page of Solace Scents and you can tell this. Among the list of acceptable pet trades are pets from Shadows of Africa, a long standing shop in the B/C forum, and Soquili, an almost elite shop in its own right. Only a true addict would actively attempt to get pets from these shops, while non-addicts sit on the sidelines and drool.

In conclusion, Shouko is awesome. There is no denying this when presented with the above points. And should anyone still remain in denial... Come on. How can you say no to a face like hers? It just isn't done.

“I opened the door for a lot of people, and they just ran through and left me holding the knob.” Olivia opened the door to our imaginations November 25th 2006 with the creation of Solace Scents. She laid the grounds for us to picture our favorite smell by first seeing smells as people. Her devotion both to the shop and her customers nurtured our own dedication. Reasonable beyond comprehension, Olivia is also a fair and just manager. For all of these reasons and more, Olivia is both an amazing and awesome being.

The first and most noticeable quality Olivia has is that she is wildly creative. She is able to take an everyday scent and whip up a person with an original personality. She allows their owners to refine who the scent is further and yet she is still able to create a unique look off of whom the scent turns out to be. Not only that, she has her own fashion sense when it comes to dressing herself. I always love seeing what outfit she has on next; it’s like a small, daily surprise.

Unlike many shop owners, Olivia is also an outstandingly reasonable manager. Twenty thousand is more than a fair price for such beautiful art. There are breedables that aren’t half as well made that cost more. The RP requirements are quite manageable as well. Even if one is having trouble with completing them, Olivia will have contests to knock a requirement off of your mind. Her shop rules are nothing out of the ordinary; she doesn’t ask for much besides respect.

Finally, Olivia has a strong devotion to her shop and customers. She’s been standing behind her idea for almost two and a half years watching it grow. Olivia is not one of those managers that haphazardly throws an idea together and lets it die within a few months. She is always a present force within the shop, willing to make friends with owners and non-owners alike. She is active with planning events; they are so frequent that it makes other shop owners look like slackers.

An idea takes creativity, devotion, and ration with oneself and others to blossom into something beautiful. This shop was once a small idea but because Olivia has all these qualities it has become something bigger. I don’t believe that anyone else could have governed the shop any better. Because of Olivia, we all have a shop that anyone could enjoy.

I will say foremost, I was not part of the judging for this.

I did that so that I would not favor any long standing owners, any non-owners whom I've had very close bonds with, and give the full opportunity to those who I have known for only a few days to a few weeks to win themselves a Scent.

That being said those who did judge it took great scrutiny upon the entries. But also made sure to keep a light heart open as the subject matter was of course entirely hysterical...

The judges have made their descision. The winner of the Semi-Custom contest is....

Thank you White Root, and you as well, Nyoko for taking the time out of your day to indulge a stupid idea concocted between Amryx and myself.

Nyoko, while you may not have won a Scent, you did make me rather happy that you entered, and for that you can take off a playdate and a journal post off your Scent. One step closer to teenagerdom for Asa ^^.
