Olivia and Ment finished setting up their station at the Event close to noon, when the dances began. Looking towards the alter in the middle of the giant clearing the duo noticed the crowd of excited parents and onlookers watching as the children piled in wearing their traditional dance garb. It was quite the sight to see.

Ment tugged at Olivia's sleeve to get her attention away from the children, with a raised eyebrow, "So how come I wasn't in the dances last year?"

"You weren't in the dance last year because I didn't have time to teach you to dance," Olivia answered, turning back to the stand and putting on the finishing touches to it.

She smiled to herself as she setup the little exibits and sign-up sheets for her games and prizes. She was hoping this would attract a little more attention on her shop with the lower classes as business had been slow recently. Always a business woman it seemed.

The crowd around the altar roared in excitement as the festivities began and the music played. Vendors shouted their fairs in the air and everyone seemed cheerful.

It was fairly predictable that Samuel was one of the first few to enter. He was fond of Olivia, after all, and Polly wanted to be anywhere Ment was...especially now that he'd grown. Upon seeing Ment, Polly rushed toward the boy, arms outstretched.

"MENT! MENT, LOOK!"

Samuel followed after, hands in his pockets, looking slightly drawn. He gave a weak smile upon seeing Olivia and waved slightly. It was only then he realized that he was seeing the back of her head. He was not so elaborately dressed as he had been for the spring event, wearing only a grey hoodie and a pair of worn jeans.

"Olivia. Good afternoon." His voice was soft.

Ment turned his head when he heard something cheerful squeak his name. He was pleasantly surprised to see Pollux running towards him. Wait, was that Pollux? He got so much taller....and frillier...And wow.

"Polly!" He shrieked in an almost girlish tone, "You got big! You got big! You got big!"

Despite his teenage facade, there was still too much child left in Ment to even measure. Clinging to his best mate, he pulled away from Pollux to get a better look at him. He was bright as the rainbow and heavily accessorized. It made Ment wonder if he could pull off something that complex. He'd have to try it.

Upon seeing Ment rush towards Pollux, yelling his name for the crowds to hear, she turned to see Samuel approaching, not wearing his usual nice clothing, but more simpler slack-geared garb. This made her smile as she had decided to do the same that day, at least.

With a buckled black hat, fuzzy black jacket, red long sleeved shirt, jean capris, slip on shoes, and very daring fish-net tights, she approached the man with a smile and a wave, a little more vocal than he seemed to be.

"Hello Samuel. I see Pollux grew," She noted, "I was wondering how long till he willed himself to catch up to Ment."

She hadn't been sure she'd make it, but it was a good day, and she would put her best foot forward.

Crystal arrived with Kaoru on her arm - or rather, the Guardian holding onto the teen's arm dutifully - looking more and more like a porcelain doll as time progressed. Perhaps it was because she was pale naturally, or perhaps it simply looked good on her, but it was difficult to discern that she was ill from just her outward appearance. Thick black curls were as bouncy and full as ever, her grey eyes bright and alert, with only the absence of her lively flush to her cheeks to mark her as looking any different. That steely gaze turned to her daughter, patting the teenager's forearm with fondness. "I look forward to seeing you dance, Kay," she told the Pomegranate scent fondly.

A radiant smile returned the woman's words, her tanned hand resting fondly over her mother's pale one. "I'll dance for all four of us," she assured the ailing flower girl, knowing well that the smart woman would know whom she spoke of. She carefully extracted herself from Crystal, making sure the other was comfortably seated before joining the throngs of dancers and parents alike. Kaoru greeted the few people she recognized or who recognized her in turn - such were the perks of working in a business as her family's - before turning her ruby eyes over the gathered to pick out any familiar faces.

She spotted two almost immediately; Olivia and Ment, both of which seemed busy for the time being. It was no matter, as she was a patient individual and could bide her time, even do little more than participate in the dances if need be. Idly brushing her fingers over the slender branches that graced her shoulders, she traversed the gathered, watchful.

Sometimes, Celyn thought his good friend Phoenix talked a little too much. He held nothing against xir (well, maybe the fact that Phoenix hated sweets because xe thought they were messy), but there were times when Celyn was certain that Phoenix didn't know when xe should stop talking. The poor churro boy was pretty sure this point was when Phoenix started remarking on how xe used the bathroom without the parts Celyn had.

"Phoenix! Please," whined Celyn, "can you stop talking?" The churro-scented child began to look around the festival for an escape. If Phoenix was going to keep talking like this...

Fortunately for everyone, the gregarious medicinal child was starting to realize when xir overly scientific and blunt talk offended people. "Oh, sorry." While there was no real remorse in xir voice, at least the young child had stopped going on and on about something that made his good friend cringe and whine. Celyn seemed relieved at getting just that much from Phoenix.

Of course, not letting Celyn get a break, Phoenix jumped right into another subject. "Oh, look! It's the Solace Scents tent. Let's go visit them. We're from there, right? I mean, I don't really remember it, but if we're really similar then we must be 'cause your dad got you from a churro scent. So let's go talk with them!"

That... didn't sound like a bad idea! Maybe someone else he knew would be there. Celyn gave a firm nod and let Phoenix drag him over to the tent. They both seemed to assume that their parental figures, Carwyn Yates and Dr. Brick respectively, would follow. Luckily, Carwyn, the always alert and panicked father, immediately saw them going out of range and yanked the doctor's arm, before darting after the duo of children.

It seemed that even at a festival he wouldn't calm down.

"I'm not certain it had anything to do with will," Samuel smiled, "Tango and May were over for lunch. We thought he was choking." And maybe he had been, but there was no way to be sure. All he knew was that Polly had grown suddenly and the days following had been a flurry of new clothes.

"I did!" Polly giggled, doing a little twirl to show off his outfit. It would be impossible to describe in words alone, so just let it be known that he was rather colorful, and had packed a panda umbrella, just in case.

"You have your magic candy cane and, and, I have this, look!" He reached into his bag and made a fist, finding it full of candies. He held them out and giggled. "See?!"

"Tango was choking?" Olivia commented, raising a brow, "How was he choking? Does he inhale his food like a cyclone or something?"

Olivia adjusted her hat abit and caught eye of Kaoru, raising the other brow a little taken aback. Olivia hadn't seen Kaoru since before she changed into a teenager and was very surprised at the..err....well endowed and elegant looking young lady standing idly by as she watched them. She noticed Crystal as well and smiled to herself some, raising a hand and waving at the two.

"The dances always seem to attract a large array of people," She commented off handedly.

"DUDE, YOU JUST PULLED CANDY OUT OF AN EMPTY BACK-PACK." Ment yelled, alerting both parents and the children who were not dancing that there was candy afoot.

He vipered a candy from Pollu'xs hand, unwrapped it and shoved it in his mouth, "It tastes like purple."

That was Ment's way of saying he found grape.

Phoenix arrived just in time to hear there was free candy. Of course, his response was not exactly the response of the average child. "Ewwie," remarked Phoenix, scrunching xir nose. "Candy is dirty and it makes you unhealthy, and unhealthy isn't good at all, nope nope nope." Speaking of dirt, xe looked around and picked up something that wasn't quite right in xir eyes.

Ignoring both xir mother's and Celyn's pleas, xe walked over to one of Olivia's table and started to straighten any cloth so it was absolutely without the slightest wrinkle. Dr. Brick shortly afterwards decided to give up, and while Celyn whined that Phoenix was being unnecessary, the idea of sweets soon distracted him.

Celyn walked over to Pollux and cupped his hands, looking up to Pollux with pleading eyes. "Can I have some candy too? I really like sweet things," chirped the sweet-loving baker child, hoping that Pollux would hand over some of those sweets which looked so delicious and tasty. While he preferred things that were baked in an oven and were nice and warm, he really liked anything sweet.

That happened to include the candies that Pollux was apparently offering to everyone according to what Ment had announced.

The flower girl caught the lifted hand from Olivia, raising her own in a returned greeting. She wasn't feeling well enough to move too much in the crowd, so she chose to remain seated, watching everyone with wide grey eyes. Once upon a time, she might have thought to join them even, but Crystal had to be careful with how she spent her energy.

The pomegranate teen, on the other hand, was all too pleased to glide through the crowd towards the indicated woman. Kaoru extended both hands, gown clinging to her in all the right places. "Olivia," she greeted the store owner with familiarity, although she wasn't sure they'd ever actually met. "Delightful to see you and..." Ruby eyes ticked over to observe Ment stuffing his face with 'purple,' "...Ment." She stiffled laughter with the back of one hand, shaking her chestnut curls. "Some things never change."

She inclined her head politely to Samuel, not wanting to interrupt any further than greeting the enigmatic shop owner, instead turning her gaze again over those who had flocked to...well. If it was a boy or a girl as anyone's guess, although by the sound of the voice, Kaoru was betting on a boy. The way the pink male interacted with Ment was almost endearing, although she couldn't watch for long with all the colors and swarming children.

One of which, she recognized! The teen simply smiled at the sight of Celyn - the sweet thief! - although she made no move to greet him. She wasn't sure if he'd recognize her, and that aside, it looked like the river of people milling about the candy-producing male would sooner carry any more away.

Remi had a death grip on both her mom and aunts hands when she entered the crowd. She was nervous about this rain dance. She didn't mind dancing but she didn't like not knowing anyone. Looking up at her mom with pleading eyes Remi wasn't sure what to do.

Smiling down at the little girl Lizzy squeezed her little hand. She knew the girl didn't like being around a whole bunch of strangers but getting her out to meet a whole bunch of kids her age was just what she needed, even if Remi didn't feel that way.

Trying to make herself as small as possible Remi hid behind her aunts leg as she watched kids run by. Suddenly Remi's curiosity got the better of her and she peeked out to see a bunch of kids gathering around a very colorful teen. When she heard the word candy her eyes lit up and she ran over to the group trying to wiggle her way through the crowd to the sugary sweetness. Suddenly feeling an elbow in her stomach, Remi fell to the ground and got stepped on by a few kids. "Ow! Stop it! Please stop stepping on me!"

"Are you not feeling well?" A light voice questioned over Crystal's shoulder. A golden eyed woman looked down at her, white tufts of hair framing her face as if they were cloud hanging in mid-air.

"You look like you could use a pick-me-up," The woman commented, offering Crystal a sad looking half-smile and a warm cup filled with the sweetest, but lightest smelling tea to cross these parts.

"OH, woah, hey!" Ment said, as his loud outbust was inevitably the downfall of him and Pollux's reunion and celebration of his growing. Instead of cheer, he found himself being surrounded by throngs of little kids vying for a piece of Polly's mysterious and endless candy-bag. It was like he was the king of Candy Mountain.

Ment spotted Remi as she made her way over and also noticed as she was promptly trampled by the onslaught of the kiddies. He scooted by Phoenix and Celyn giving them both quick, yet very familiar hello's and went to help the little ginger-nut (lawl) up from the ground.

"You ok?"

Unlike the night creeping into the warmth remaining from a dazzling sunset, Qadir and Orpheus were simply...there, quite suddenly and without any whisper of a warning. Nor did a whisper give away how long they would simply remain, their features tossed in half shadows as they stuck to the side to repel the majority of the glinting lights. The two of them were, as usual, impeccably dressed, but those that knew them might have felt insulted that they'd decided ungraciously to dress up for the event. A good thing the people who knew them would dare little to comment upon such a fact, a better thing that those who didn't know them would find them finely attired well enough. A sort of storm cloud hung over the both of them, Orpheus with his sulking demeanor and crossed arms, Qadir simply missing the soft honey glow of his eyes.

Orpheus narrowed his eyes, tongue licking at pale lips before poking at characteristic fangs. He needed a moment to compose himself. Bloody gaze watched everyone, lingering naturally upon the brunette who seemed the only one able to capture his affections by any means. "She's still taller than me," he remarked, as if to insist it were the insulting fault of poor Kaoru. Qadir merely ignored the boy, far too tired of his egotistical complaints to attempt a soothing for the hurt ego of his son.

"A shame that is. Now go play nice," the tanned vampire remarked with the slightest wrinkle of his noses. How Orpheus ever convinced him to take the night off to come to this...event, a place he'd before have given his left hand to be center of attention, he wasn't sure. Now he was forced to lurk, watching Crystal fade away before him, and him too timid to even approach her now. Shame was possibly the biggest weight on his shoulders; shame at being unable to account for anything good. Pure terror also gnawed away at his heart, and perhaps only Orpheus had a clue as to what would happen, were the tall man to lose his beloved flower.

Brushing his dark hair from his eyes, Orpheus marched his way over to Kaoru, making a deliberate path in front of Crystal for nothing more than sadistic pleasure. Usually unpleasant, he was in a particularly foul mood, which he knew better than to take out on the poor woman, but a lack of familiar faces made him wary to act the little brat in front of them. Ignoring anyone else around Kaoru, he gave the ever slightest of bows and held out his arm, "You're to dance with me," he announced flatly.

Grey eyes turned over and behind her own slender shoulder, blinking up at the owner of the voice. Something like familiarity crossed her features, but she could not, for the life of her, desipher why she recognized the soft voiced lady. "I am afraid I'm a little under our beautiful weather today," Crystal admitted in a delicate voice, not yet fragile with her sickness but soft all the same. Her lips curled into a surprised, pleased smile, lifting her dainty hands to gingerly accept the tea. "That's...so very kind of you, my Lady," she thanked her whole-heartedly, slender fingers tracing over the cup, "I am deeply appreciative. Thank you."

She breathed in the aroma with a satisfied sigh before turning her smile back to the woman. "My name is Crystal," she offered cordially, "I--" The words failed her momentarily as her surprised gaze fell upon the unhappy form of Orpheus. Her expression trembled somewhere between alarm and immense pleasure at the sight of the vampiric boy, giving a brief, hopeful glance around before again smiling up to the woman. "I think the day may yet become splendid."

The teen had seen the poor dear knocked over in the mess - precisely the reason she hadn't dared venture in there, not with her dress and branch-ladden shoulders - and had very nearly dove in herself without regard to help. Kaoru sighed with relief as Ment came to the rescue, smiling fondly at the Mint youth; she supposed it was his fault she oft had peppermint sticks in her tea and otherwise favored the scent.

Orpheus' sudden appearance in front of her startled her as much as it had her mother; her fingers reached for him as though to shelter him from the sun, but it was a foolish gesture that was abandoned, graceful hand instead lighting against the male's arm. If the vampire had survived his trip out here to demand a dance, surely he would not melt before her. "As my Lord wishes," she replied with a warm smile, the bracelet looped around her slender wrist glinting in that malicious sun. She only hoped the elder vampire had not also traversed the day hours, knowing for certain that he was more susceptible than his son.

As was usual with Orpheus, he ignored all others as he shifted Kaoru to a better spot - a well shaded spot that wasn't out of ear shot of Crystal or Qadir, were the adults to need them for any reason. Already his exposure to the directness of the light had brought a taut expression to his face, but he refused to acknowledge such silly interferences and placed his hands in their proper places to most elegantly woe the teen off her feet. As best a too-short male can do with a taller woman, which no doubt kept the sour expression upon his face. "I don't recognize them," the fanged boy said with a slight look of disdain towards the others Kaoru had previously been accompanying.

Soon as Orpheus had left, Qadir tucked himself up and sat at the base of the tree which granted him the best of protection from the sun. Sleeping double, though the night so he might attend exhausted, did not help the way his energy sapped with every twinkle of the blasted sun. How anyone could enjoy such blistering light over the calming glow of the moon was anyone's guess, but it likely helped that they could stand in it. Chin propped upon the dark male's knees, solemn expression almost haunting as he did little more than watch Crystal, listening hard to both Orpheus and Kaoru, but also trying hard to hear Crystal though slightly out of range she was. There were no further manageable patches of shade that he could reasonably occupy which would keep him able to hear the flower woman. He was not appreciative of the fact that it was some other woman delivering refreshments to Crystal, and not him.
