Why do I have no place in modern society?
Any other firm followers of the book of Leviticus?

What is your favorite paraphrase from the Good Book?
I am a fan of "a man laying with another man is an abomination". All of these homosexual couples today make me uncomfortable.

Oh yes. That's an old-time favorite. I also particularly like the "Thy woman within confines of thee kitchen is a woman happy indeed".

Don't patronize me, I'm trying to have a real discussion here.

Oh. My badness. I mistook my Betty Crocker Cookbook for the Good Book. Sincerest apologies.

Wait what? No. Unless you count that 5 dollar hooker down by Tijuana. But that was purely rape on her part.

You're a transexual?
You are a godless abomination.
May God forgive you when you pass form your sexual transmitted diseases.

LOL xd

Okay, in all seriousness now...
Leviticus is kinda old-school. Some of the laws regarding purity and cleanliness, etc, still hold up today but many of the rituals (jump in a pool of water if you have leprosy!), do not apply to us today :]

Why, you ask? Because 1.) Modern science and medicine have given us legitimate cures and proven "rituals" for our ailments. 2.) The only reason Leviticus remains in the Bible is probably because of the historical factor. We can compare how much we have improved to the way the ancient Israelites lived and say "Wow! Thank God we don't have to live like that anymore..."

Anyways, that's what I think.

I agree that leviticus is old-school and many of the laws therein no longer apply to us.
But you can't write leviticus off. It does have a lot of good stuff in it. It has a huge list of things to avoid - things that still apply to us today. It speaks against homosexuality among other sexual sins. It speaks against tattoos and cutting of the body. Respect for your parents and elders, divination(fortunte telling, astrology, etc.), idols, stealing, lieing; the list goes on and on. All of these things still apply to us today.
The things that no longer apply to us are things such as wearing clothing that is woven with more than one type of material, the types of meat we eat, trimming our beard, etc.

Rest assured that all of the bible is realavant or it wouldnt've been written. It was preserved for more than historical purposes.
