So, our school district is making a lot of budget cuts, which also means that classes are being cut, which affects band in a HORRIBLE way. We have a percussion/guard class for marching season, and from the way things are looking, that's not gonna happen next season. And our jazz band, which I really want to join, doesn't have enough people to count as a "class"- they're telling us that at least 30 people need to be signed up for it to officially be a class, and obviously, a jazz band doesn't have that many people. So, our band classes our going to suffer a lot from the way it's looking so far.
As for our numbers dropping, our marching band is probably going to be a group 2 band next year, when we were group 3 this year. Nobody's joining band anymore, so the music program around here looks like it's slowly dying...it's really concerning me. Especially at my middle school last year...it's just getting worse. Our 8th grade band last year had eight people. And the numbers are dropping every year...it really concerns me. It just seems like the schools don't care about the music program anymore.
Is this happening to anyone else?

At least you guys have a choice! We were all forced into band by false and crummy promises like trips to disney world in the 6th grade!! Buut those promises gave me the best times of my life.

I hate having idiots in band...but our band plays really hard stuff and takes real dedication, so people who don't want to be there usually end up quitting. But I just want people who really want to be there to join, so we can still have our band and still have our GOOD band.
In middle school we were bribed with hershey park. xd
