Dammit, he was late, very, very late. A'isha would murder him if he missed her performance in the nearby temple. Today they were making a sacrifice to the Godess Lolth, and it was A'isha's first as her duty as a Priestess.
Though his House was much lower ranked then hers, they had been friends from a young age, and had partly grown up together. When his parents had died, A'isha had been someone he could talk to, someone he could tell all of his secrets to without fear of her telling another. He owed it to her to show up on time.
Pulling on his clothes, he quickly fixed his hair and rushed outside, sprinting down the road in the direction of the temple. If he kept up this pace he just mite make it in time, and she would be none the wiser. Unless she picked up on his emotions of course, for she was a weak Empath that could taste the feelings and emotions of others.
Taking a quick left in an alleyway that he knew was a shortcut, he wasn't paying attention and ran into something solid with a loud thud. He fell back on his butt, scraping his hands in his quest to halt his fall. Looking up, he could see that it was a male Drow that was much taller then himself, and had a vivid red scarf tied around his neck. He was handsome, as well as lean, but very muscular, like a dancer.
"Uhh, sorry about that," he said a bit nervously to the stranger, standing up to wipe the dirt off of his pants. His cyan eyes darted up and down the other man's body, appraising him. He wore dark clothing, and a scarf that could possibly hide his face if need be. That wasn't much of a help though, this man could be anything.
Raising his hand, several small balls of light formed in his palm, rising to float above them like miniature will-o-wisps. "That's better," he mumbled, taking a few steps back warily. He didn't want to know what this man was doing in this dark alleyway, and he doubted the stranger wanted him to know as well. "Anyways, I... uhhh... better get going," he squeaked.

The tapestry he was crouched against felt soft against his fingers, Syfka noted. But there were other pressing matters to attend to, like not getting caught inside another House. Getting caught could lead to dieing in both horrible and interesting ways, neither which way was the assassin interested in feeling now or ever. Sure that he'd gotten close enough to his mark and there were no guards in his immediate surrounding area Syfka began to hurry. The sooner he got done with this the better, this one had become tiresome. The problem (and there was always a problem) with high-paying contract kills was that it usually took a bit of time. There could be months, maybe even a year of preparations if the mark was heavily guarded. Luckily for Syfka., this one was of a lower House. Not that much power meant not that many defenses and thankfully, not many guards.
But the House was increasing in power and with that power meant things were going to get caught up in it, like his employer's oh so valuable trade routes. And all assassins knew that nothing said "Kill me" like compromising another's wealth. And this was why Syfka found himself skulking around the halls of this lower House, intent of killing what his employer had called "a very annoying Drow". Creeping along the wall until he came to a large red door, the assassin stopped to peek around the corner and almost hissed in annoyance. There were no guards here! How was he supposed to take out his frustration at the complete bore that this assignment was without guards?! Sykfa swore loudly and looked around again just as quickly. Satisfied that no one had heard him, he quickly but quietly slipped through the door and into some very spacious bedchambers. In the bed lay a sleeping and sickly looking older male and the younger of the two present was forced to sigh. The old codger had been cunning and fun to plan after at first, but an unexpected illness had befallen him and forced the male into bed-rest. Too bad, for Syfka was one to play with his prey. With a shrug he whipped out both daggers and plunged them deep into the Drow's heart and with a choking sound his mark was forever silenced. After uninterestedly wiping his blades on the male's bedsheets, he scrambled up to an open window and was gone.
Although it had been boring in the end, Syfka congratulated himself on a job well done as he aimlessly walked the streets. Finding himself thirsty the young male began to make his way to a tavern, for a job well done deserved something alcoholic. Rounding into the alleyway he usually used as a shortcut with a bored expression, Sykfa's vision was suddenly filled with a broad chest before he found himself falling to his butt in an undignified heap. Growling and blowing his hair out of his eyes with a glare, Syfka stared down the man as he apologized to him. Sorry? How odd. He couldn't remember that last time he'd heard someone snort and tell him where he could stick that glare of his. Light suddenly sprung from the dark and Syfka blinked owlishly. Well, he wasn't half bad....
"Anyways, I... uhhh... better get going," the other one said and looked to move off. Still sitting on the ground but in a much more relaxed pose, Syfka gave the other man his most feral grin.
"What's yer hurry?"

Evael gulped seeing that wild smile suddenly appear on his face. Though he was lean and muscular, this male looked dangerous, very dangerous, and that wasn't a good thing when you were alone in a dark back alley. "I'm actually late for a performance in a nearby temple of Lolth," he squeaked, his voice high-pitched from nervousness. He couldn't keep his eyes from straying to the male's chest, then down his stomach where the fabric was taut against his well shaped abs.
If he had met this male in any other situation, he probably would've flirted with him, maybe even be so bold to ask him out. Something about him though made him think otherwise, and he doubted someone so handsome would be interested in him in the first place. Most males in the Underdark were interested in other men because of the fear of the higher females, but that wasn't always the case, he had met many men that were still attracted to females in though they were still very fearful.
"Y-you could come with me perhaps," he suggested, his face thrown into relief as his lights floated like little insects above their heads. His eyes were wary, but to tell the truth he was excited, very excited at the prospect of this male joining him. Like all the males he was attracted to he immediately imagined their life together, a mixture of sex and intense love, maybe even children later on if they so wished. Shaking his head to expel the thoughts, he smiled, the little stars under his eyes winking playfully. "I know the head Priestess, and her performances are some of the best in Underdark, I play a small part as well if you're interested"

Syfka tilted his head a bit as the man squeaked at him once more. What a truly odd Drow, so well defined and yet at the same time being the owner of a voice that seemed so....miniscule. He actually found it a bit endearing and perhaps to rile him a little more, he'd tell him so later. Riling this man proved...amusing. He'd have to do it lots more in the future, because between kills the life of an assassin was often boring and messing with other people was often one of the best ways to amuse oneself. Syfka alone had found hours of amusement from tavern fights, though the resulting bruises and following days of nursing injuries weren't nearly as fun. One particularly brutal scrap had him nursing a heavily wounded arm for well over a month, but it had been well worth the trouble.
Finally breaking himself from his inward thoughts, he noticed that the other male's eyes were drifting to stare at his chest and he chuckled. Seems as if the guy had a case of the wandering eyes, and for Syfka that was just fine. He had been told before that if was nearly impossible to be inconspicuous and yet so noticeable, but Sykfa managed it pull it off with ease. A good number of people never noticed him until the daggers were at their throats. He was proud of being fit since it was a job requirement, after all. If things ever went south that meant it was time to haul a**, and he couldn't do that with a mead belly, now could he? Switching to smirking playfully at the man, Sykfa chuckled again. "See something you like, perhaps?" he asked, crimson eyes shining with amusement. Syfka didn't mind if the guy's answer was yes, he was quite the looker.
Lifting a gloved hand to poke absently at one of the lights, the young assassin thought briefly about the other Drow's proposal. There really was nothing for him to do today, having already earned his money and it would keep Syfka in good spirits for a nice length of time. If this guy hadn't smacked into him, then he probably would have just gone into a tavern and started a fight. Syfka shrugged and stood up, dusting himself off. Briefly, he wondered if asking the new male if the Priestess looked ..."good" but he really wasn't in the mood to get punched by this particular guy. "Yeah", he answered the other male. "I'll come and see it. But I don't go anywhere unless I know your name". He extended a gloved hand toward his new companion. "Syfka", he said as an introduction.

Not expecting to get caught, he turned around quickly, fighting not to cry from embarrassment. When he was sure that he wouldn't cry, he turned around and smiled shyly at the other male. "I didn't mean to get caught," he mumbled, realizing how dumb that sounded. Of course he would've gotten caught, he had been oggling the other Drow's body in plain sight, not even paying attention to whether or not he was being watched. "But yes, you are very attractive," he said barely above a whisper, blushing wildly again. Honestly surprised that he had openly admitted it, he watched as the other Drow poked at his light, the little balls floating around like they had minds of their own.
Hearing that he would come though, he squealed like a girl, jumpung up and down eagerly like an excited puppy. Realizing what he was doing, he once again had to turn around to keep himself from dying of humiliation. Gagh, why did he keep doing this! He seriously needed to work on his reaction to things, or else he would end up scaring the other Drow away, much like he had done with his boyfriends in the past. "Sorry, its nice to meet you Sykfa," he mumbled, shaking the other Drow's hand firmly. He smiled at how strong and rough the other man's hand was, chills running up and down his spine. Wow, even though he had barely met him, he found himself very attracted to the other man.
Unfortunately, if he was attracted to him, then A'isha probably would as well. They had known each other for some time now, and had often fought over the same man. Well not fought really, but argued over who got who, with her usually winning. She was a Priestess of course, and a weak Empath at that. She would simply pick up on his emotions, then use them against him to get what she wanted. With a sigh, he returned his attention to the present and grabbed the other man's hand without really thinking about it, dragging him from the hallway. "I'm Evael by the way, from the House of Yethtal. You're going to love this performance, A'isha has a way of weaving magic like nothing I've ever seen. She can also pick up your emotions, so be careful when you're around her, and you should be fine. Ooo, this is going to be so fun!" he squealed.

Blinking rapidly at this new development, Sykfa almost flopped down again onto the dirt of the alleyway in shock, but still managed to stay upright. Had he said something wrong? But it didn't seem to be so, since the other Drow turned back to him with a shy smile. "I didn't mean to get caught," the other man mumbled and Syfka smirked. Ah, so he'd been embarrassed? Syfka thought it served him right for staring so openly. He was easy prey for the young assassin's well trained eye. "No harm done, I catch everyone", he said with a light shrug and continued to pick pieces of dirt off his clothes. And at the other's quiet admittance Syfka grinned slyly. "Not all that bad yourself", he said with a tilt of his head.
Smiling in amusement at the antics of his new companion quickly turned to bewilderment as his hand was grabbed in the other's firm grip and Syfka was dragged out of the alley. He wasn't used to someone dragging him being anything more than negative, so he had tensed a little, his other hand twitching in the direction of this dagger before he came to his senses and relaxed. The other Drow probably didn't even realize what he was doing, not to mention it'd probably would have looked bad to kill a friend of a priestess in the street. As the one he now knew as Evael pulled him along with a squeal, Syfka repressed a twitch. Hanging out with an excitable Light Mage...nothing could go wrong there right?
...right?

Evael chatted about nothing all the way to a large clearing devoid of anything except a large dais. Next to the dais was a large statue of the Spider Queen Lloth. Her statue was surrounded with offerings of food, or of dead animals, or even money. No one dared touch any of it though for fear of both the Priestess's and the Goddess's wrath. Any Priestess was Lloth's mouth piece, and pissing them off wasn not a good idea. It was usually why Evael let A'isha win everything, she could be truly scary when she was pissed off. Once they got to the dais, he waved to A'isha who was on stage, and she waved back, her dark violet eyes looking at his companion intently. She smirked and turned around to talk with the other Priestesses.
Great, she was interested in him too! No way was he going to go down so easily this time. If he had to, he would fight against her. Well not really fight, more like argue and whine until she gave in and let him be. All around them more Drow were starting to show up for the ceremony, and it wasn't long before the opening was packed full of bodies. The females were the most dominant figures in the crowd, and they stood out line beacons of grace and beauty. Some of them had larger man amongst them that were probably body guards, and others had small men that were mostl likely servants or slaves. Drow culture was matriarchal, which meant that females ruled. Men were mostly protectors and guardians, or more often than not, toys that were used and then thrown away. Thankfully he had never been attracted to women, so he didn't have to worry about them torturing him.
Around them the lights dimmed, and he watched as A'isha walked forward looking exotic and glorious in the dimn lights. She was a very rare Drow indeed, with the lilac skin of an albino, dark violet eyes and deep black hair streaked through with purple, all of them each something that marked you as powerful. To add to all of that, she was a Priestess of Lloth, and head of this particular sect of women. All around them everyone hushed instantly, all the red eyes fixed upon his friend in the front. "Here it goes," he whispered to Syfka, barely noticing that he was still holding his hand, and let it go. Blushing again, he smiled as A'isha's powerful voice floated over the crowd efortlessly.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the ceremony of our great Goddess Lloth, queen of spiders and Drow alike!" An eerie music started to play then, a music that touched you from the tip of your toes to the top of your head. Feeling a shiver up his spine like the touch of cold water, he couldn't help but sway to the beat, glad that he wasn't the only one when all of the other Drow did the same. He couldn't see where the music was coming from, but it touched him all the same. "Today is a day of celebration, where we come together to offer our Goddess our thanks for the life she has given us. As her High Priestess, I am her mouthpiece, and it is through me that she will bless us all with Her glory." She turned around them, moving to the north of the dais where a yellow candle was placed.
Picking up a ceremonial lighter, she danced to the candle gracefully, coming before it then standing still. "In the Underdark there is no wind, but nonetheless I summon Air to our circle." A mini whirlwind lifted her hair, and the flame of the candle flickered wildly around her. She moved south where a red candle was place, and she spoke again. "Fire is the passion in our veins, the warmth of our hearts, and the love of our Goddess. I summon Fire to this circle." She didn't even have to touch the candle, and it burst into flame, surrounding everyone around her in a warm bath of heat. Next she moved west to a blue candle. "Water is the giver of life, and the balance to Fire. I summon Water to my circle." Oddly enough, the candle flickered and the fire was blue and liquid looking. Next she moved east where there was a green candle. "Earth is where we live, it gives us strength, and one day we will all return to her bosom. I summon Earth to our circle." The sounds of birds chirping could be heard, and everyone was engulfed in the scents of freshly cut grass and the sweet smells of wild flowers. She moved to the center of the circle where a purple candle was placed, and summoned the last element. "Spirit is the last element I call. Spirit is what we are before we are born, and what we become when we die. I summon Spirit to my circle."
When she was finished, Evael could feel his spirit lifting, and felt as if he could fly. He quieted his thoughts as she finished her speach. "The five elements bless us with their presence, and it is through the Goddess that they manifest themselves so clearly." She picked up a goblet filled with a thick red liquid that looked very much like blood. She spilled it around her, and spoke again. "I offer this blood as tribute to our great Mother, and ask her that she bless us as her children. This ceremony is ended, blessed be!" she yelled and each of the candles roared with their elements. She let each element go in reverse order, and soon after the music stopped, and its hypnotic sound no longer filled every fiber of his being. Turning towards Syfka, he grinned like a fool, his eyes sparkling with delight. "Told you she was good," he said smugly.

Syfka was listening to Evael as he went on excitedly, the young assassin occasionally answering back with an "uh huh" or a "yeah" while keeping track of where they were going. Eventually they reached thier final destination and Syfka looked around as best he could (which wasn't all that well, seeing as Evael still hadn't let go of his hand). There were quite a few Drow already, even though it seemed obvious that they hadn't missed anything. Evael pulled him to a stage where a bunch of what looked like priestesses were talking. Syfka's companion waved to one, and she waved back. So that must by Evael's friend A'isha. The young assassin immediately gave her the once-over. She wasn't bad looking in any circle, not bad looking at all. Her violet eyes locked onto his crimson ones as the priestess studied him. A small smirk in his direction and Syfka tilted his head in curiosity. What was that all about?
A glance over in Evael's general direction revealed that he didn't seem to have liked the exchange. As to why, he'd have to ask later, seeing as more Drow were moving in and a quick scan of the crowd revealed some faces that he'd rather not have seen. Having just met Evael, he certainly hadn't told the other of his occupation and for now he intended to keep it that way. Assassinations weren't something you sat there and openly bragged about unless you were cocky, stupid, and/or suicidal. Syfka was none of these things, so despite Evael's grip on his hand, he carefully made himself less noticeable.
Suddenly the lights dimmed and Evael's friend moved to address everyone. "Here it goes", Evael told him and in that convenient moment his companion finally noticed that he was still holding Syfka's hand and dropped it with a blush. A'isha's voice rang out loud and strong over the crowd and the accompanying music was near hypnotic. Syfka watched with interest as the ceremony was performed, seemingly transfixed on the scene before him. Feeling oddly light-hearted as the whole thing ended and the music stopped Syfka felt Evael's eyes on him and turned his head a little to face him.
"Told you she was good"
"Yeah yeah", Syfka snorted and punched his companion lightly in the arm. "She's...different looking", he added lamely. But it was true. A'isha was truly the strangest looking Drow he had ever laid eyes on, in an exotic kind of way. And he had to admit that she was very pretty, though he wasn't sure if it was the smartest thing to go after a priestess. Normal females of the Drow persuasion were most likely tyrannical enough and he'd had his share of close run-ins. But that didn't mean he couldn't chat her up for a bit. But that was enough knocking about in his own head. As people began to file out, Syfka looked around. "We going to meet her?" he asked Evael

When the other male punched him lightly on the arm Evael had to quickly hide a wince of pain. Having just met this gorgeous new guy, he didn't want to come off as more of a wuss then he had already shown himself to be. "Sure, we can meet her, but like I said, be careful of your thoughts around her. She can't exactly hear them, but she can pick up on emotions very easily, and it's stronger when she touches you."
He waited for the rest of the crowd to file out before approaching the back of the dais where the group of Priestessed were conversing amongst themselves. He cleared his throat loudly to catch their attention, careful not to look any of them in the eye. When he spotted A'isha he winked at her playfully, giggling to himself when she winked back.
It wasn't long before she excused herself from the group and ran over to him quietly, pulling him into a large hug. When they seperated a few short moments later, he took time looking her up and down. She was thinner then usual, and was decorated with new tattoos across her stomach and from what it looked on her breasts seeing that they continued her her shoulders. "Wow, that was amazing A'isha! I've been to plenty of ceremonies before now, but none like this! Your magic was amazing, and that music!"
"Why thank you," the female replied, her blush obvious on her lilac skin. Unlike most Drow who had nearly black or dark grey skin, her was the lightest shade of purple, something very uncommon in the Underdark. As she was still touching Evael, she could feel his excitement feed her own, and she couldn't help but feel incredibly giddy like he always ways. Before she let him continue, however, she peaked around him at the handsome male, feeling a tinge of possessiveness coming from Evael when he could see that she was looking. "So, are you going to introduce me to your new friend Evael?" she asked curiously.
"Oh, of course! Sorry," he said a little embarrassed, making sure to pull away from her so that she couldn't read him so easily. "A'isha, this is Syfka, I actually met him on the way here. Syfka, this is A'isha, High Priestess to Lloth." He watched as A'isha smiled, holding her hand out warmly to the other male. Before they touched Evael shot Syfka a warning glance, reminding him to watch his emotions around her.
