Set in the outskirts of Soul Society, this area, under Squad 7 jurisdiction, is modeled of off Bryce Canyon in Utah, USA, the canyon is a natural maze of highs and lows with twists and turns. The unique orange and cream colored rocks are contrasted by the coniferous forests at the base of the canyon. The temperature here is, on average, 80 Degrees (F) in the sun and 40 Degrees (F) in the constantly shaded areas.


Notes about area:

It is MASSIVE. At least 10 fights could happen here with a very low chance of them coming into contact.

There is a word for the odd way that the stone eroded. The stone "Pillar-Like" formations are called "Hoodoos".

Clare was a little surprised that she'd be having her first spar within the squad so soon, but at the same time was glad and excited. She'd be able to test her abilities on someone who wouldn't likely try to hold back just because she was a female. The match would be at the canyon; a name that was simple enough but did little to describe the sheer size of the place. Clare wasn't quite sure where she was supposed to meet her opponent Hyronai Kaiune, and she didn't want to wind up getting lost in such a natural maze.

Clare stopped at the entrance to one canyon valley, and closed her eyes for a moment to try to sense if he had already arrived. She felt his energy faintly, as though it was a good distance off, and didn't sense anyone else. In order to find him, she started walking in the general direction that she felt his reiatsu. As she got closer, under the light breeze she heard the sound of falling rocks, and once she could see him, she thought with a slight twinge of anger, Geez... did he really have to try to climb the cliff face? Men...

She sighed and said rubbing her arms a little, "At least it will be warmer up at the top... the temperature here in the shade is kind of harsh." Clare started climbing the cliff to get up to the area where she guessed that he wanted to have this match. The climb was fairly awkward since she still had her zanpakuto attached at her hip, but at least she had it with her not that she'd be using it for this match. He was already waiting for her when she reached the top. This ought to be fun.

"Agreed." That was all she said after listening to his short terms; she didn't want to give away any kind of information about herself through her speech. All he will learn is through my fists, she thought simply as she unfastened the zanpakto from her hip and placed it down behind her. Clare stood up and looked at Hyronai, took three paces forward from her blade, slowly slid her right foot forward until it was just past shoulder width. Once positioned she raised her arms up, held close much like a boxer's starting stance, and centered her weight.

"Come, show me what you've got," she said simply, continuing to analyze her opponent for any specific techniques and styles. Talk about being warm up here... its got to be at least 80 degrees! the idle thought flashed through her head without breaking the concentration that she had for the fight.

He's pretty quick, she thought as she reacted with a nimble backflip to avoid the full effect of the sweep. She felt his leg graze hers, knowing that would have probably been enough to take her completely off balance. Her hands hit the ground, followed shortly there after by her feet to complete the flip and from her cat-like crouch position, leapt at Hyronai with her left fist ready to strike him hard to the face. Now lets see how fast he can react.

Might as well give him that false sense of security, she decided quickly as to how she'd receive the next attack. Clare flexed her abs and took the brunt of the blow effectively winding her momentarily; she landed on her hands and knees next to Hyronai coughing and trying to breathe deeply for a moment before making a painful roll away from him and attempting to stand up slowly. That wasn't much of a strike. From that position it would be hard to put a lot of strength behind his punches... He has some strength but I can't judge just how much... yet... she analyzed quietly, holding her stomach with her right hand as she was getting up.

Standing on top of a large rock overlooking the fight, Sho watches as the two new members of the 7th Squad fight. Shaking his head back and forth he says to himself, "Where is Captain Bullene? He use to oversee newbee fights so they wouldn't get out of hand. Something is not right here ..."

Sho jumps down from the top of the boulder and says, "Enough ... both of you. Who is overseeing this fight? Where is Master Bullene? It is urgent that I find him!"

Sho looks at Hyronai and says, "Hyronai, just because I'm no longer in this squad does not mean that you can speak to me anyway you would like. I am in a seated position and you will respect my title or I will show you the meaning of respect .... the painful way! Now, I know Captain Bullene would want to oversee a fight between two new members as he has always done. Did you take it upon yourself to set up this fight without his knowledge?"

((FYI, it is incredibly rude to just butt in on a perfectly harmless match like that especially in such an out of the way location, that the captain made SPECIFICALLY for sparring between squad members that is so MASSIVE that ten fights could go on here and NOT run into each other - so why would you come here looking for anyone?... Not to mention the captain gave the go ahead, and it was mentioned in multiple locations through the rp and on the challenge thread. Besides, if we are just doing hand to hand and light kido usage, why would the captain who is busy enough need to directly oversee it? Oh yeah, thank you for messing up the flow of battle as well, it is duly appreciated *sarcasm*))

No longer in this squad... no need for me to wonder about him any more then, Clare summed up her thoughts of Sho, not overly pleased about the interruption. She was just starting to get the info she wanted about Hyronai, and now the flow was broken; she did notice, however, that he was being obviously upset by the shinigami standing not too far away from them. That piece of information was very interesting. The unexpected could cause him to lose focus, even if only momentarily; now, the question was would she be able to use that knowledge to her advantage.

In order to put the focus back between them, Clare straightened out her stance, and went back to her original starting position with her right foot forward; afterwards, she said straightforward, essentially ignoring the interruption, "Good, you aren't like many men who automatically assume women are weaker. That show was a test, and you passed; now I can get serious. Get ready and come at me again." Now let's see what you've really got.
