The Tonik Den Located in the foothills of the Ridgeback Mountains, the lair complex of Nicky's flight opens onto a small lake, in which dwells the water kyn Magoi. The other Japanese kyn dwell in little cavelets off of the main system of common chambers. Artemis and Deimos, the Lunar kyn, live primarily in the woods, only occasionally returning to their dens in the lair. Kori's den is barricaded by a magicked door, to prevent the escape of little ones.

Lorne swept slowly over the foothills, his body blocking out the sun and casting everything in shadow as he flew. His monstrous wings caught the thermals beautifully, but as he got lower and lower he found himself having a hard time keeping himself aloft. He wavered, unsure of himself, then looked to the lake. His eyes, with which he could look through water to see fish, peered about for Magoi and, satisfied that the koi Kyn was nowhere too near, he turned and skimmed down. He lost his lift ten yards above the surface of the water and dropped, sinking under and creating a splash and wave that moved up the shore and got as far as InuYasha's cave, which sloped down lightly and therefore became about half-filled with water.
This was inconvenient for InuYasha, who was sleeping at the time and stumbled out of his cave, spluttering and soaked. He glared around, then spotted Lorne walking up out of the lake. "You... you oversized scaly t**t!" Inu snarled. "You just flooded my cave! What the hell did you think you were doing, making a water landing this close!?"
"I didn't have a choice, Inu... it was an accident, I lost my lift--"
"You know, Lorne, you're just too big. Plain and simple. Go off somewhere on your own where you can't accidentally crush anybody, jerk." Inu snorted and turned, marching back into his cave to figure out some way to bail it out.
Lorne stared at the entrance to the cave a moment, flame licking out the sides of his mouth, then his eyes softened and he seemed to deflate, his head drooping, and he trudged out of the water, sighing and curling up off in an inobtrusive spot.

Ganon struggled to hold onto Tare, who was having a ball squirming out of his grip and crawling all over. "Gah! Damn it, he's too quick!" Ganon lunged, grabbing up the small kyn before he fell into the lake. "Stop tha--oof! Hey! Ow!" He got a little wagging tail in the face. "St-stop that! Nicky, do something!"

Nicky snickered at Ganon's plight...as did, it seemed, the little female curled up in her lap. "It's not my fault that you always seem to pick the wriggly babies... Isn't that right Midora?" She leaned down, touching her nose to the baby's.

Ganon grumbled as Tare fluttered his tiny wings and leapt suddenly from Ganon's grasp, gliding unsurely straight into the rock face of the cliff. The little kyn proceeded to howl and Ganon facepalmed. Falke stepped forward and gently nudged Tare, who sniffled and held her muzzle gently. She smiled and wagged her tail, lifting her head so that he slid onto her back. Tare grabbed onto a spike, and Falke trotted back to Ganon, who thankfully took the small kyn and held him tightly. "Thank you, Falke." The Lunar nodded and lay down, setting her head in his lap and receiving scritches behind the ears.
Ganon chuckled. "I get the weird kyn, don't I? Hadus the drill sergeant, Lorne the giant, Tare the gargoyle, Yule the puppy, Beltane the water-phobic, Lammas the bookworm, and Falke the mute." He continued scritching Falke, who gave a silent whine of contentment and closed her eyes.

Midora shifted to one side in Nicky's lap to make room for the little male known as Odhran, who started nudging his mistress's paw insistently until she began petting him. "Yes, Odhran, see? I'm paying attention to you." Nicky just chuckled and shook her head. "It's amazing how much he looks like Lorne did when he was little a hatchling."
Odhran promptly turned his attentions away from Nicky, shifting them to Midora. He began nuzzling the female until she simply rolled her eyes and allowed him to curl up against her for warmth. Rhea, Odhran's surrogate mother, hissed softly to her adopted son. "Stop that, Odhran." The European female pushed herself up onto all fours from her spot in the sun and trotted over, dipping her head into Nicky's lap and lifting Odhran by the scruff of his neck.

Ganon chuckled. "And you, of course, have the French poodle." He jerked his head at Eiffel, who was sunbathing nearby. He scritched Tare's head gently, smiling down at him. Occasionally, he winced while moving his wing. It was bandaged heavily to help it heal after Jaswinder tore it apart with that spell, and it still hurt rather badly.

"Be careful with your wing, sweetheart." She leaned over some and gave his shoulder a light nuzzle. Midora was, by this point, trying to crawl out of Nicky's lap and over to Ganon, to curl up with her brother.

Tare was worn out after all the wriggling, and happily moved over. He snuggled against his sister and closed his eyes, falling quickly asleep. Ganon smiled and leaned over to kiss his mate, his tail curling around her. At that moment, Lorne stepped out of the caves with a wide yawn. "Mmmf. Morning." Tare woke immediately and started to tiredly wag his tail.

Midora let out a loud whine, calling for her father as she tried to climb over her brother to get to him. Nicky, snuggled up to her mate, just watched and chuckled before offering Lorne a greeting. "Morning, Lorne."

Lorne froze, his eyes locked on his daughter. Until she had climbed up his leg and onto his back, gripped his mane and pulled herself onto his head, he dared not move or even breathe. He finally relaxed once she was tightly curled in the thick hair. He lay down (making sure no one, particularly little ones, was under him), and smiled. "How are you both?"
Ganon smiled and continued scritching Tare, who tiredly reached for his father's head. Ganon smiled and picked up the little kyn, setting him on Lorne's head beside his sister. "We're well. And how is Sakura?"
Lorne chuckled. "She's sleeping soundly. Thanks for taking care of the kids while we were asleep."

Nicky shrugged and leaned over to give Lorne's snout a light stroke. "We enjoy it. Plus, we have to bond with the somehow. Don't you remember us taking care of you when you were little?"
Lorne felt his cheeks start to blush. "Er... Sorry about all the biting..."

Ganon grinned widely. "You got so jealous whenever Nicky tried to get close." Lorne made little grumbling noises as Ganon continued, "... On the other hand, you were never so eager to explore your surroundings that you jumped out of my arms and tried to glide, then realized you didn't know how to turn and just hit a wall." Ganon looked fondly at Tare, who rubbed his snout gently and rolled over.

Ganon shifted a bit and winced again. He'd pulled his right leg, which was bandaged and wrapped and tightly bound, across some loose rocks. He muttered, "Damn, Jas did a number on me there..." At least the damage wasn't permanent, and he'd be back up to snuff by the next fight. His chest was stitched tightly. Tare blinked up at the stitches suddenly and grabbed at them. Ganon yelped in pain and tried to move with Tare until Nicky could grab the little kyn and extricate his claws from poor Ganon's healing wound.
