heart Ok, so people are ALWAYS saying that the pit doesn't matter... I hate them. We are DEFINATELY important. So yeah, let's talk about it. Who loves doing big impacts? I DO!!!

I hate it when people are always like "ohhh you can't complain, you don't do anythiiiing you don't march blah blah blah" Well. Anyways. Ahem.
I looooove the impacts. They're the most fun of all. I only got to do one in this year's show though. How depressing. Then I had to go back to my marimba... but that's cool too. XP

I understand completely. I believe that the rest of the band is just jealous of the fact we get to stand still in the blazing sun (especially during band camp). xD The pit at my school doesn't get to do impacts. In fact, we don't even get hard parts for that matter...

What ever! Pit rocks! I was in pit my Freshmen year, and it was AWESOME! all the benefits of band, without the need to remember drill! and at my school, no one looked down on pit cuz we always had our music down perfect and memorized within a few weeks. we rocked! but now im on the line and i have to march. its fun, but sometimes i wish i was in pit again cuz im a lazy booger and i love to play without marching. its still stressful tho, cuz you have to get all your equipment on and off field really fast and we had alot, and only like four people in pit. fun stuff tho. I heart Pit! I heart Battery! I heart Band!! blaugh heart blaugh

Being in the pit is awesome and hard as well. Well, hard when it comes to comp. I'm in the auxiliary so we have to have a lot of help and set up SUPER fast. sweatdrop Part of my job is to load up our little gold cart (pulling this big old thing we load stuff on.) then make sure nothing falls. Sure, it's easy. But you have to get everyone ON there, then if something falls it's YOUR fault. Fricking people. <.<; xd
Pits awesome. :]

Pit is amazing. I am a battery member [yay second bass] but I do agree those who say pit is pointless need to go kick a Pepsi can.
Pit = Tempo Tempo = good performance Good performance = WIN STUFF.
Though the pit may not ALWAYS be perfect, it sure is amazing. And FUN. [:
I was in Pit once for like... maybe three weeks. Then I got boosted to play the marching cymbals, played those for a while. Now I'm BASS. : D

Trust me when I tell you being in a small band sux. We have a pit that usually only consists of me, but when the others have their grades up or aren't sick we have 2-3 people. And we have cymbals, timpanis, bells, chimes, and any and all of those little aux. instruments there is on the planet, and 2 seasons ago we were positioned in the middle of the field now that was a difficult to get everything on and off the field not to mention the 90 props we had (exaggeration, but there was a lot.)
The only problem I have with pit is that it gets hot outside just sitting around doing absolutely nothing and I get sunburns everytime we have a long practices.
I agree with y'all though some people just don't understand the hardships and FUN we have in pit.
PIT RULES!!! They are just jealous!!!

It's like I always say: "Pit's so cool, they can be in marching band and don't even march!"
...not that that statement itself is dorky or anything. xd
I'm pit section leader for my band. Although, my section doesn't like me. Go figure, a girl trying to keep seven guys in control while they have access to loud, hitty things. Ugh. Maybe next year'll go better.
@Jessey: We had a pit a looong time ago that was a one man section. It was intense. And he was great. biggrin Go single-person sections who succeed! 8D

I was in pit last year (or as we call it front ensemble) and honestly I didn't like it, but pit is definately important. Don't listen to the other people, they're just assholes, you're just as big a part of the marching band as they are. Keep your head up doll

some of my instructors are totally biased. The pit gets yelled at all the time for insulting the other sections but we get bullied all the time and no one says a darn thing to them! without the pit the underlying melody would be gone. I love pit and im so happy i discovered it!

I love pit and im so happy i discovered it! I understand completely. But, fortunately for the pit at my school, my band instructor yells at the band when they yell at us. ^^; I even tell the marchers to back off, sense I'm one of the captains of the pit. Here's a good quote for anyone who has to deal with other sections insulting the pit: "The pit may be unimportant to you, but we don't have it easy either. We drag our instruments around and have to stand in the blazing sun waiting to play, while you get to at least move. Plus, at least your section as more than one person playing a part. If one of us is gone, we have no way to replace that part."
