Wh--wh--what now? If I can help...

But...what do you mean by "understand"? Are you reading the RAW and can't make sense of the Japanese, or do you mean the ending confused you?

If it's the latter, I could probably do something. I own the 10th volume, and it was easy to follow through every duck and turn.

Alright. I'll grab my 10th volume and lovingly re-read it.

Sorry for the tl;dr post. I rambled a bit. If you're wondering about Blanca, go to the last two paragraphs.
If you have no idea what happened when Cooro and the crew were in Lilt with all those crows, then go to the 3rd paragraph.

First, I'll go through the basics. When Cooro was very little, most likely 5-or-so, Fly asked Cooro if he would give Fly his wings when he got a little older. Cooro agreed. That was his promise. OK, to the present. Cooro was about to have his operation to go through with that promise when he asked Fly if he was a man-made +Anima. Fly lied to Cooro and said Yes, he and the researchers made him and he grew up in their lab. Cooro then took the medicine that would put him under for the operation.

Elsewhere, the researcher whom Fly apprenticed under told Nana, Senri, and Husky how Cooro got his +Anima. In the town of Lilt, a mother's corpse lay on an altar of sorts to be eaten by crows and carried to Heaven. Most likely to follow his mother's spirit, that baby called to an anima, and a crow anima answered. Cooro was born from his dead mother's corpse as it was being eaten by crows. He was literally born from her womb with wings. (I wonder who named him. Most likely someone at the church.) The researcher saw all this.

Back to the present. Cooro is standing at the very place in Lilt where he was born. He's gazing longingly at the sky, wishing to go 'there'. (I thought it was either just into the sky with the crows, or to where his mother is. Likely the latter. That would be the more touching choice, as well.) A crow anima which was not Cooro's answered that longing and went into Cooro. He began to fly upwards when Husky grabbed his arm. All three of them showed Cooro they still wanted him to be with them. Nana and Husky voiced this very loudly. Cooro turned with tears in his eyes and tackled his friends as the crow anima left him, the wings disappearing.

Presently, in Astar, as this was all happening, Blanca was out in the open for the first time. She saw the sky and desired to fly. Up she went, and because Fly had Cooro's anima implanted into him, he followed her. She was smiling, and he was happy. They were flying high. Then, Fly's wings disappeared -- Cooro's anima rejected him, and Cooro was calling his anima back. Blanca held him as they fell (likely too frail and small to carry him in flight) and Blanca dissipated.

That's prob'ly what you guys're confused about. Blanca was content. With Fly about to (likely) die, and happy now that she was able to fly and fly with him, she no longer needed her anima. But she was practically made of anima. When she was found, she was incomplete. Without those anima, she couldn't live. There's a reason why she was in a tube with a hose in her neck. Then her spirit went wherever spirits do. Did you see the white shadow flying off in that smaller panel?

So Cooro and friends lived with Mr. Harden, the former swordsmith, and the former deer +anima. They will likely live their childhood there. But who knows?

Again, sorry for the length. Anything else?

Royul Crow-n I'm pretty sure that in the end the author said "Cooro and the rest still travel on, I can't imagine them staying at Haden's house forever!"

I know; childhood isn't forever. I mean if they ever travel and have adventures again, they may or may not still be children.

Awaaaaa, teenage Cooro... I didn't like Nana's daydream, but teen Cooro'd be pretty adorable.
