 Maximus was focused intently. In front of him lay six maps, two books and a chew toy. He was studying the maps carefully. England, the oceans, Rome. He studied the last map the longest. Rome... his home.
He was readying himself for a journey to his home. Actually, planning a trip for two by the sounds of it. So he had to plan extra carefully.

 Lorien eventually came in and sat down looking at the maps. She looked at Maximus then back at the map. She was excited to go on this trip, but she kept her composure under control. "So how's it going so far?"

Maximus kept his eyes on the map, sparing himself only a small glance at Lorien as she entered. This was very important work. "I believe it is coming along. I have learned these maps well, and though our journey will be long, we will eventually reach Rome." He said with a determined but small nod. "How are you?"

Lorien smiled for a second. "I see. Well you seem to be doing well." She looked at the map trying to see what directions he was planning on going. "Well I'm alright. Nothing much except gathering supplies and training. That's all I ever seem to do."

Maximus nodded. "You have to do all you can. This may be difficult to accomplish. We need to be as prepared as we can get. Especially, with all due respect, since you don't seem used to travelling far distances." He looked up at Lorien, tucking his tail comfortably around himself. "What is the extent of your travel experience anyway?"

Lorien blinked. "Well my travel is mainly around this continent." She stopped for a second. "Now if it's across seas then I'm not too good at it, but I can read maps pretty well. Sailor's back in the old time used the sun as a compass." She paused for a second. "The sun rises in the east and sets in the west." Lorien then looked at the map. "So I'm guessing we are going to have to go overseas?"

Maximus nodded. "Some experience is better than no experience." He looked at the map with her and nodded. "Yes. We will have to cross an entire ocean. But I am confident it will be worth it. I'm planning on getting a large boat for it." He quirked an eye at Lorien and flicked his tail, smiling almost bashfully. "I mean, like those one always sees in the television commercials. Where everyone is having fun and they say time travels fast. I thought you might enjoy that best..."

Lorien looked at the map again then looked up. "Ok! I'm sure it will be a wonderful trip then." She showed a small smile. "I know that one of my sisters lives in the ocean." Lorien then stretched out a bit. "She controls the element of water. I could tell her to keep the waters calm for us while we're traveling."

Maximus perked his ears, listening intently. "Really? Controls the water?" He pondered this silently before looking back up. "Do you think the lady would help us? Living in the oceans and controlling the waters could come to very good use as we travel across."

Lorien nodded her head. "Certainly." She got up. "She is normally more agreeable then her sister who lives on land." Lorien paused for a bit. "So...anything else you need?"

Tilting his head, Maximus sat up tall with his tail up along his back and giving Lorien a serious look. "Just to make sure you're ready for this. We'll be travelling through unknown places, hard days and long nights. Every day will bring new trials to our paws and minds." He lowered his nose a little, giving her a direct, yet somehow gentle, look. "Do you truly feel that you are willing to go all the way? I will be by your side the entire way, but most of it is up to yourself."

Lorien nodded her head. "Of course I plan to stay with you. I really don't have a family to return to." She paused for a second a bit sad, but she kept a light smile on. "Anyways I will gather some more things for the journey. Is there anything in particular you want?"

Maximus' face didn't change as he absorbed what Lorien said. No family.... like him. "Just keep in mind that we will not be staying in Rome. We will return, and thus you do have something to return for."
He looked down at the maps. "A bag or two to carry items in. A few toys. Silent ones. And anything else you can think of that won't inhibit our ability to move swiftly."

Lorien nodded her head wondering what Maximus was thinking. "I see. That's fine too." She picked up her bag. "Well all that sounds good. I might get some tasty treats for on the way. Any certain type of food you would prefer?"
(I might end up putting stories down for my characters like you, Blue, and Starreh do. I actually might have some pretty good ones.)

Maximus tilted his head. "I prefer pure made foods. Natural things. If you find any of that, it'll be good. I'll be bringing some too." He said with a nod. "We should leave soon. Get a good start." He turned back to the maps, making his last minute triple checks.
