Children can borrow books for free. Dalal wrinkled her nose as she thought of her teachers words. It was the first time that she actually visited a library and saw that many books. So many shelves, so many possibilities and so many words she wasn't able to read.
At first she had planned to turn around and leave again thinking that a visit had been a stupid idea, but the nice lady from the counter had gave her directions to the area for learners. And that was Dalal's problem, she was still learning but desired to read all the stories she had been told about.
She sighed and pulled out a book with a small girl and a wolf on its cover. "L - Li - Lit - Litl..."

"This is the children's section." Risa explained to Tami as they walked into the only corner of the library with big tree decorations and toys and other bright colorful items. She sat Tami on the ground.
"Now I need to go get big books on high shelves and I don't want you to get hurt so just stay here and play with the toys and books and I'll be right back." Risa squatted to Tamis level and neatened the childs hair ties, "And what do we do if a stranger adult approaches us?"
"Wun?" Tami tried.
"No sweetheart, we make as much noise as possible so other adults notice. Cus strangers wont hurt you while other people are around." Risa bopped Tami's nose and stood up. She waved as she left, leaving Tami to the section of books and toys.
Tami walked around until she heard a small girl reading aloud. She walked over the girl and recognized the big wolf and the girl with the red cloths on the cover. Her mom read this one to her, it was about strangers too.
She sat down in front of the girl and waited to hear more.

"Leeetl...red...ri-ridin...hood." Phew, she had made it. "Little red riding hood." The mantis girl repeated and wondered what the wolf had to do with the title as she suddenly spotted somebody close to her. Feeling embarassed she tried to stuff the book back into its line, but failed and only made it fall onto the carpet.
"What - what are you doing here?" Dalal snapped. The girl looked smaller so probably she wasn't able to read anyway. She didn't know that she had done it wrong, right?

Tami lowered her head slightly and looked around herself as if to attempt to find an escape. She had been noticed. She quickly stood up and went behind the nearest book shelf.
However she was too fast for her toddler feet that she ended up tripping over her laces into the book shelf. It rocked a little, but stabilized.
All for one book that is, which fell out and onto Tami's head.
"Ow....."

Dalal bit her lip as she saw the book hit the girl. She definitely hadn't intended to scare her that much! Still, the situation was embarassing and it took her a few seconds to ask for Tami's condition.
"Um...hey, sorry...are you alright?" She bent down to look at the mouse girl. "I just didn't know you were watching me. At least you're not a boy, you know." Dalal grinned. Damn, she wasn't very good at comforting.
She glanced at the book and picked it up. "This one looks interesting though."

The pages of the book flipped open as Tami rubbed her head, "'M okay." She mumbled, sitting up so that she could look at the book.
The page on it had a lamp, an odd lamp. It was swirly and bronze in color. Tami knew this lamp. " 'at's A'din's." She pointed to the page. As she did the world seems to sway a little. The girl blinked a few times to orient herself again.
"It gran' wishes." Tami explained to the other girl, "A mean sorcererer has to fin a boy 'at looks like A'din to get to the lamp, but A'din tricks the sorcerer to keep the lamp. Den he marries the P'incess."
The world became fuzzy again as an idea gently entered Tami's head, " Wonder if dere is a lamp 'ere?" she pondered aloud before she realized what she said.

Dalal was relieved as the girl started to talk. At least she hadn't been knocked out by the book or something.
Just as the mantis girl had come to the conclusion that books were probably a bad thing in general, Tami started to talk about the lamp picture. Dalal listened with interested and tried to understand her explanations.
"Uh huh..." She commented and kneeled down to take a closer look. "So you say that this lamp is able to grant wishes?"
To Dalal it sounded like an adventure. Ranza had told her adventures and the people on TV had them too. Bollywood adventures. She looked around to make sure that nobody was watching them.
"This book has probably come to us to deliver a message." Dalal whispered awestruck. "We are supposed to find that lamp!"

Tami considered what the girl said. Her ability to rationalize was not fully developed and for some reason Tami didn't feel afraid. "If we need ta fin' it den we need ta keeps it from the ebil souce'er. Dat's what A'din had ta do." Tami thought for a moment, "Wha tif the source'er is lookin' nows? Gots to hurry.... buh where would a lamp be?" She asked the other girl.

"Evil sorcerer?" Something in Dalal's mind told her that this was a crazy story and that it couldn't be true, but then she looked around and those books were so numerous and everything smelt dusty and...it just looked like pure mystery, so why shouldn't there by sorcerers around here reading magic spells?
"Alright, we need to pair up. You know the story much better than me, but I'm bigger." And better, Dalal thought. "Secret stuff is always hidden somewhere, so it can't be in an obvious place. We need to look for a place that is..." She pondered. "Dark and dusty, yes."
The mantis looked at the mouse girl and then scratched her head. "What's your name anyway? We can't go looking for the lamp without knowing each others names."

Why did she look at her as if she had said something awkward. Dalal shrugged. "Alright, Tami. I'm Dalal. So, you're our expert...what do you think? Where do we find something dark and dusty?"
She moved along the lines of book shelves. Ok, it was dusty almost everywhere.

"da- da-" Tami tried to form the name, "Dara?" She smiled apologetically. "behin things or under things it get dark?" She tried to think of what happened in the story, but all that she could remember is that only Aladdin could have made it.
"Der was a huuuuuuggggeee tiga I tink?" she spread out her mouth, showing her small buck teeth as she pointed into her tonsols, "An' A'din wen' in."
